The headline FPL team news from Thursday’s press conferences

There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

      The front 3 will be fluid so Rashford Martial & RW will change position throughout the match (at least it's the idea)
      But i think Tony Martial is the best finisher in United team so he's worth a shout.
      I'm going after him in gw3. Have fraser so hopefully easy swap

    What's the case for choosing Dendoncker over Hayden as a 5th mid fodder? I see that many have him despite the RMT tool favoring Hayden. Am I missing something?

      Both are punts, Donkey had a nail position is all, but he is not guaranteed nailed and will drop to 4.4 quick if he is not playing

    2 Brighton attackers is probably punty to point of stupidity, but both did well pre-season, fixtures are with them and there's a lack of viable 5.5s:

    Is it worth getting BSilva over the likes of Siggy/Rich/Barkley? I have Sterling.

      Siggy looks promising. Penalty taker, likely to have more minutes than Rich/Kean.
      The only thing I am doubt with Bilva is he's not that greedy to score or assist.

    Kane vs Auba

    Spurs without Alli+Son makes me doubt with Kane. With Laca yellow flagged, Auba has bigger chance to score. Moreover, Arsenal got more serious with transfer market this season and I always start gw1 with one newcomer, is it time to give Pepe a chance?

    might is be that KDB is bit too much of a risk given recent fitness issues/impacting rotation threat given City are clearly good enough to win the league without?

    Vardy at that price point seems so appealing and there's fewer good forwards I want than mid priced mids

      It looks good. I have similar team Though I have Sigurdsson instead of Perez and I think that's the reason I can only have one city player in my team atm. So Pope instead of Ederson and change Perez to Sigurdsson and then worry that you have only one city player....
