Kane supported by Moura and Lamela against Villa

Harry Kane (£11.0m) will be supported by Lucas Moura (£7.5m) and Erik Lamela (£6.0m) for Spurs’ Gameweek 1 clash with Aston Villa.

With Son Heung-min (£9.5m) suspended and Dele Alli (£8.5m) ruled out with a hamstring injury, there was an opportunity for cheaper midfield players to come in for Spurs.

Moura and Lamela have taken those opportunities and those who included them in their first squad of the season will be delighted.

Moura is currently in 11.2% of squads as the Brazilian was considered the most popular cheaper alternative to the expensive Kane.

Lamela is the real differential, snapped up by Scout legend Mark Sutherns for Gameweek 1, and owned by just 0.7% of Fantasy managers.

Christian Eriksen (£9.0m) is among the substitutes and it will be interesting to see which of the attacking players he replaces if he does come on.

Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) gets a start at right-back with Juan Foyth (£5.0m) suspended, although Serge Aurier (£5.0m) has recovered from his knock to feature on the bench.

Meanwhile, Dean Smith surprised Fantasy managers with some elements of his team selection.

Despite Matt Targett (£4.5m) and Frederic Guilbert (£4.5m) playing extensively at left and right full-back respectively in pre-season, neither were in the starting line-up.

The former was named on the bench while Guilbert was not in the matchday squad at all.

Furthermore, Jota (£6.0m) also impressed during the summer but is named among the substitutes while Anwar El Ghazi (£5.5m) and Trezeguet (£5.5m) start either side of Wesley (£6.0m)

Spurs XI: Lloris; Rose, Sánchez, Alderweireld, Walker-Peters; Ndombele, Sissoko, Winks; Lamela, Lucas; Kane.

Aston Villa XI: Heaton; N Taylor, Mings, Engels, El Mohamady; Grealish, McGinn, Hourihane; El Ghazi, Wesley, Trezeguet.

To all those saying you can't have Kane - Sterling - Salah and have a good team.. this is my current team:

    Ryan (Button)
    Arnold VVD Rico Taylor (Diop)
    Moura Sterling Salah Perez (Dendo)
    Kane King (Greenwood)

I realise I made a mistake with taylor but easily could have been any other decent 4.5 mil defender

Kane can easily become Auba.. Moura can easily become Martial or Barkley or whatever

Slight under-coverage in the defence but you can't call the team crap.. not at all

Oh yeah and King can easily become Jota... total flexibility.. Dendo comes in when the worst case scenario happens which isn't the end of the world as I would need one transfer to fix the possible injury/suspension

Fair. It’s interesting though when 2 out of 3 blank though and the mid table players don’t get returns. But yes when it goes right- 50 points from just those 3 premiums, wow

No TC. Went with 4 premiums: Salah, Sterling, Kane, KDB. Paid off this week at least.

After just 2 GW's every team in the Championship has conceded at least 1 goal. What a crazy division that is down there.

I put a post up earlier of some bad players I had, what’s my best option here? I’ve already took out Gündogan for McGinn, no brainier there

    Ryan (Pope)
    AWB VVD KWP (Montoya) (Rico)
    Sterling Salah Pérez Mginn (Trossard)
    Kane King Origi

Few dead wood there, is Trossard a must go just now?

    Thanks in advance

Hi all. Not sure the most appropriate place to put this Guilbert update, so thought this made the most sense.

If, like me, you were scratching your head because of Guilbert's absence from the Villa matchday squad despite no injury, Dean Smith explained his reasoning to WM Sport after the match.

The reason he was left out of the starting XI is Smith preferred known quantities that did well defensively at the end of last season, which meant El Mo came in at right back. As for Guilbert's absence from the bench, Smith explained that he wanted "two defenders, two midfielders, two forwards on the bench".

"Because I've got Ezri as a centre back and I know he can play RB if needed as well, that was behind the decision," Smith added.

It concerns me slightly because Guilbert was a nice 4.5m man who seemed assured of minutes in pre-season but is obviously a rotation risk. Perhaps he'll be used more in home games/favourable fixtures – which is the only time he'll be in my starting XI, I suppose, so maybe it's not a major issue. However, I am cursing myself for falling for a promoted side AND new player to the league...

But in case it's not obvious, there will be opportunities for him. Smith said: "All of them are very unfortunate they haven't got into the first team but there's another 37 games to go and plenty of time for them to show."
