Barkley and Mount both start as Pulisic drops to the bench

The final fixture of Gameweek 1 takes place at 16:30 BST as Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford.

There weren’t too many shocks upon the release of the teamsheets but perhaps the headline news was that both Mason Mount (£6.0m) and Ross Barkley (£6.0m) – rather than one or the other – start together in Frank Lampard’s first Premier League starting XI as Chelsea manager.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is the man to make way, with the USA international dropping to the bench.

Pedro (£7.0m) completes the trio of attacking midfielders lining up behind lone striker Tammy Abraham (£7.0m).

N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) is only fit enough for a place on the bench, while Willian (£7.0m) and Antonio Rudiger (£6.0m) miss out.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both £5.5m) are handed their competitive United debuts but Daniel James (£6.0m) is only a substitute.

Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) instead gets the nod and will line up in ‘the hole’, with Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) on the right flank and Marcus Rashford (£8.5m) stationed on the opposite wing.

An ‘out of position’ Anthony Martial (£7.5m) is reportedly set to lead the line.

Budget FPL forward Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) is on the bench, meanwhile.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Barkley, Pedro, Abraham.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial.

He’s having to do most of the ball work himself in midfield. Pereira is simply watching and admiring him rather than playing with him and making himself an option.

Pereira isn't making him try to spin around every defender once he gets the ball.

Pereira is making him have to try and beat 2 men every time he has the ball though, because he isn’t making himself available. People always very quick to criticise Pogba. Baffling tbh.

Spurs are very good no doubt. I think their shortcomings lie within their mentality and pressure to win big games.

One game that sticks out was Wolves at home last season. It was their chance to wobble City and Pool. Spurs took the lead and ended up losing 3-1.

We hear a lot about the teams who have aspirations of breaking into the Top 6.

Interesting, none of those who finished from 7th place right down to 13th last season managed a single goal between them.

Blanks for Wolves, Everton, Leicester, West Ham, Watford, Palace and Newcastle.

Palace will be OK if they keep Zaha.

Toon have got bad early fixtures as well as Ashley taking the p*ss. Things could get toxic quickly at St James Park if they start badly.

Glad to see Jose in the studio

An actual person who knows what he's talking about from a tactics and managers perspective

Would you, temporarily, switch Kane to Aubameyang, for next week?

I can't see Kane doing much against Man City away.

And yet I managed to figure out that burning 2+ transfers on hokey cokey in the most crucially reactive time of the season is not a great idea.

If they both get a 0.1 price rise, you're not going to be able to switch back without taking a hit.

Pretty watchable so far, I must say. A bit concerned with some of the open spaces United are allowing, but the skill is making up for it, even if sometimes they do dawdle on the ball.

Meanwhile, 84 points feel like a bit of a let-down, especially in view of how disastrous GW2 can be for this team of mine...
