Adrian comes through injury scare for Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian (£4.5m) has overcome his ankle issue to start at Southampton this afternoon.

The former West Ham shot-stopper was dealing with an injury sustained in the Super Cup celebrations midweek but will be involved at St. Mary’s.

Despite Jurgen Klopp’s men going all the way to extra time against Chelsea, he has named a very settled side for Gameweek 2.

The front three of Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) and Sadio Mané (£11.5m) are all in the starting line-up, with the Egyptian the most popular captain option for the weekend, according to our latest poll.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m) retains his place at right-back, with Joe Gomez (£5.5m) left on the bench.

Joel Matip (£5.5m) is chosen to play alongside the ever-present Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) and, of course, Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) remains unrivalled at left-back.

Liverpool face a Southampton side playing three-man defence of Maya Yoshida (£4.5m), Jan Bednarek (£4.5m) and Jannik Vestergaard (£5.0m).

Yan Valery (£5.0m) and Ryan Bertrand (£5.0m) are the wing-backs while Nathan Redmond (£6.5m) starts up front alongside Che Adams (£6.0m), with Danny Ings (£5.5m) on the bench.

Elsewhere, we may have already lost one of our £4.0m defenders as Diego Rico (£4.0m) drops to the Bournemouth bench today.

Charlie Daniels (£4.5m) comes in for him as the Cherries revert to a 4-4-2 formation, with Ryan Fraser (£7.5m) and Harry Wilson (£6.0m) on the flanks of midfield.

Not surprisingly, Callum Wilson (£8.0m) and Josh King (£6.5m) start upfront.

However, the strike pairing may have a tough time up against Aston Villa debutant Douglas Luiz (£4.5m) this afternoon.

The defensive midfielder was signed from Manchester City this summer to provide some grit to the Villans’ midfield.

Luiz is the only change from the side that lost at Spurs last week, Frederic Guilbert (£4.5m) and Matt Targett (£4.5m) still kept out of the starting XI by Ahmed El Mohamady (£4.5m) and Neil Taylor (£4.5m).

Those who kept the faith in Leandro Trossard (£6.0m) were rewarded as he came in for Jurgen Locadia (£5.5m) to make his Brighton debut.

The Belgian looks to be in a front-three with Glenn Murray (£6.0m) and Pascal Groß (£6.5m).

Meanwhile, West Ham are indeed without either Felipe Anderson (£7.0m) and Sébastien Haller (£7.5m). Chicharito (£6.0m) and Robert Snodgrass (£5.5m) come in for the pair.

Everton name just one change to the side that drew with Crystal Palace in Gameweek 1, Jean-Philippe Gbamin (£5.0m) coming in for the suspended Morgan Schneiderlin (£4.5m).

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) shifts back to a centre-forward’s role for Watford, after playing on the left of midfield last weekend, Andre Gray (£6.0m) dropping to the bench.

Finally, there are few surprises for Norwich and Newcastle as they go head-to-head at Carrow Road.

Aston Villa XI: Heaton; Taylor, Mings, Engels, El Mohamady; Grealish, D Luiz, McGinn; El Ghazi, Wesley, Trezeguet.

Bournemouth XI: Ramsdale; Daniels, Aké, S Cook, A Smith; Fraser, Lerma, Billing, H Wilson; King, C Wilson.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Duffy, Dunk, Burn; March, D Stephens, Pröpper, Montoya; Trossard, Murray, Groß.

West Ham XI: Fabianski; Masuaku, Diop, Ogbonna, Fredericks; Wilshere, Rice; Fornals, Lanzini, Snodgrass, Chicharito.

Everton XI: Pickford; Digne, Mina, Keane, Coleman; Gbamin, A Gomes; Bernard, Sigurdsson, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin.

Watford XI: Foster; Holebas, Cathcart, Dawson, Femenia; Pereyra, Capoue, Doucouré, Hughes; Deeney, Deulofeu.

Norwich City XI: Krul; Lewis, Godfrey, Hanley, Aarons; Trybull, Leitner; Cantwell, Stiepermann, Buendía; Pukki.

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka; Ritchie, Dummett, Lascelles, Schär, Krafth; Shelvey, Hayden, Ki; Joelinton, Almirón.

Southampton XI: Gunn; Bertrand, Yoshida, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Valery; Højbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Romeu; Redmond, Adams.

Liverpool XI: Adrian; Robertson, van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Wijnaldum; Mané, Firmino, Salah.

I have 0.5 itb, so I can downgrade VVD and upgrade Greenwood to Pukki.

Would you (a) do it and (b) which 4.5 to go for? Pieters? Montoya? Neither?

Double Pool defence and double BOU attack. What should I focus on shipping out? One from each?

Any reason not to do this for free?

    Pereyra + King
    To
    Ceballos + Pukki

Just got home from the Saints game. Robbo was better than Trent in terms of eye test. Both could’ve hauled though and look dangerous. My advice would be to hold your nerve with them even though Adrian is shocking (worse live). Mane looked far more effective than Salah in this game.

Hold double Pool defence you reckon? May send VVD on his merry way...

Thanks - what did you think to VVD? Defo considering losing one of him or TAA.

Think Salah will come good despite Mane looking better today.. no need to stress over them for now.

Tempted to wildcard...but felt like most had a bad week so far.

    Really want:

    Kane/Son
Mane instead of Salah (Mane is on mad form)
    Pukki
    Rashford/Martial
    Emerson

    Want to keep:

    Digne
    Ederson
    Sterling
    Lundstram
    One of VVD or TAA

    How about you?

Getting Pukki atm would mean chasing last two matches points. I would say Cantwell is a better prospect fpl wise

Is getting Barnes in point chasing?

Thinking of doing Barkley/Perez + Greenwood > Cantwell + Barnes.

    Already have Pukki 🙂
