Lundstram starts as Zaha returns to the Palace line-up

Premier League football returns to Bramall Lane on Sunday as Sheffield United take on Crystal Palace. Kick-off is at 14:00 BST.

Both clubs drew in Gameweek 1, with the Blades snatching a late equaliser against Bournemouth and Roy Hodgson’s side being held by ten-man Everton at Selhurst Park.

Chris Wilder has named an unchanged starting XI from the team that drew 1-1 at the Vitality Stadium, so last week’s goalscorer Billy Sharp (£6.0m) is only among the substitutes.

That also means budget FPL defender John Lundstram (£4.0m) again starts ‘out of position’ in central midfield.

The Blades will line up in a 3-5-2 shape, with David McGoldrick and FPL midfielder Callum Robinson (both £5.5m) leading the line for the hosts.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) makes his first start of 2019/20 for the Eagles, joining Christian Benteke (£6.0m) up front.

Jordan Ayew (£5.0m) is the man to make way.

That is the only alteration that Roy Hodgson has made from Gameweek 1, although Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.5m) has recovered from injury to take his place among the substitutes.

Budget FPL defender Martin Kelly (£4.0m) gets his second start of the campaign at centre-half.

Palace were much better on the road than at Selhurst Park last season and indeed had the sixth-best away record in the top flight.

Only three Premier League clubs scored more goals than the Eagles on their travels (32) in 2018/19.

Fifteen of Sheffield United’s 21 clean sheets last season came in a remarkable second half of the campaign in which they conceded only 14 goals in 23 matches.

The Blades recorded a shut-out in 12 of their 23 home fixtures.

Sheffield United XI (3-5-2): Henderson, Baldock, O’Connell, Egan, Basham, Fleck, Lundstram, Norwood, Stevens, Robinson, McGoldrick.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita, Ward, Kelly, Dann, Van Aanholt, Milivojevic, McArthur, Townsend, Meyer, Benteke, Zaha.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 2

Arguably it is yes and I've criticised others for knee-jerking. Although Pukki isn't in my new team. I had Gomez in my team as I assumed he was first choice after playing last week. Being dropped yesterday was a surprise and means he has to go. I'm also feeling uncomfortable about not having either Salah or Mane in my team. Not only are they both premiums, as a Liverpool fan, the absence of both of those in my team makes for uncomfortable viewing which I don't want. Mane looked sharp when he came on against Norwich, scored 2 against Chelsea and now a haul yesterday so seems he has started where he left off. So he is on my team which has meant quite significant re-structure due to his price meaning I don't have much option but to use the wildcard. Not ideal using it this early but rather that than a 20pt hit.

I was thinking the same. However with Lundstram scoring and hopefully Jota scoring/assisting a few I may hold out. Double Liv defence is the problem for me.

At 4.3m that's a 0.1 gain in value for a player who will be on the bench most weeks.

                Value is irrelevant.

At this stage buying him at a 0.1 increase effectively knocks you down a whole .5 bracket in purchasing power for another player.

It is a definite boon to own him already and not be faced by the conundrum.

Its no disadvantage to have him but:

                  - Will you be selling him?
                  - Will many need to buy him?
                  - The. 5 bracket it only relevant in GW1. Prices have already begun changing, people have money ITB.

Of course it's a bonus to have him, but for it to cause "a stinker" of a decision for managers is laughable.

                  1. Pacer.
                    • 9 Years
                    4 years, 7 months ago

That's just not true. The vast majority of players remain at their initial value now and nobody is going to be making any money just yet.

Like it or not, 0.1 increases ARE important at this stage.

If it's not a headache for you then great, you don't have a headache.

Your first sub will presumably be a defensive player. Anyone owning Lundstram with have an attacking player, collecting defensive points also. And we saw how heavily used the benches were last year.

See you in a few weeks to see how this one turns out

Quite a few times if he keeps his place in the team. He'll come off the bench for rotations, I'll use him when I've got an injury and don't want to use a FT, I'll use him in favourable fixtures.

It's early days but I'm super glad he's in my squad

I didn't even bother discussing your crappy comment as I don't own Moura.

But I did fancy a Sheff utd cleanie ahead of a Spurs (non-starting as it turned out) midfielder scoring at Etihad.

Certainly not. The overlapping CBs is no longer a thing with the 5-3-2 system instead of the 5-2-1-2. The two side CMs (Fleck and Lundstram) are the ones doing the overlapping now.

The flip side to a Lund haul is that those of us who own him _and_ Rico will likely see a drop in value for the latter, making it harder to swap him out for someone else on WC unless you go early.

Would you pull the trigger on this with 2 FT?

Salah, Robertson, Robinson > Mané, Lundstram, De Bruyne (-4)

You're just chasing points getting Lundstram in.
