Barkley and Abraham benched as injured Chilwell misses out

Chelsea take on Leicester City in the second and final Premier League fixture to take place on Sunday.

Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 16:30 BST.

There has only been one goal scored in the last three league meetings between these two clubs: two stalemates sandwiching the Foxes’ 1-0 win in west London in December 2018.

The Chelsea starting XI shows only one change from the side that took on Liverpool in midweek, with Mason Mount (£6.0m) replacing Mateo Kovacic (£5.5m) in midfield.

That means there is again no place for Ross Barkley (£6.0m) or Tammy Abraham (£7.0m), who are among the substitutes.

Pedro (£7.0m) and Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) will flank Olivier Giroud (£7.0m) in the Blues’ attack, while Willian (£7.0m) makes the bench.

Ben Chilwell (£5.5m) won’t feature for the visitors this afternoon, with his place at left-back being taken by Christian Fuchs (£4.5m).

Chilwell misses out with a minor hip injury.

That is Brendan Rodgers’ only change to the side that drew 0-0 with Wolves in Gameweek 1, so Ayoze Perez (£6.5m) and James Maddison (£7.0m) will again support Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) in attack.

The Foxes are without a Premier League goal in three matches stretching back to April of last season, although have admittedly faced tricky opposition in the form of Wolves, Manchester City and Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea in that time.

Rodgers’ side managed only three shots from inside the box against a stubborn Wolves side last weekend.

They may get more joy out of a Chelsea backline that has shipped six goals in their two competitive matches in 2019/20, however.

Lampard’s troops also conceded on eight occasions in their final three pre-season friendlies.

The Blues look more promising going forward, however, having racked up 38 shots against Manchester United and Liverpool over the past week.

Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Pedro, Mount, Pulisic, Giroud.

Leicester City XI (4-3-3): Schmeichel, Ricardo, Evans, Soyuncu, Fuchs, Choudhury, Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison, Perez, Vardy.

Downgrade Pérez or one of TAA/VvD to afford Fraser > KdB?

    Team (after Wilson > Pukki):
    Heaton
    TAA - VvD - Digne - Zinchenko
    Fraser - Salah - Pérez - Sterling
    Pukki - Jota
    (Button - Lundstram - Dendoncker - Greenwood)

lets say you did salah to mane and you save some cash. You then spend that 1mil else where, salah then proceeds to wreck Mane, and you cant bring Salah back in again without major surgery.
Mane over-performed last season, if he matches salah again i will be surprised

nothing is good enough on here.

I WC this week after 97 pts and sold Salah for Mane. Also had Sterling, Kane and Auba. I was told I would have (c) headaches.Kelly and Lundstrum messed with my team balance I was told.

          So what?

Yeah some of the cliches just get repeated over and over, dont take a hit ever, dont play wildcard early, just show patience with players, stick to the plan you got players in for a reason etc etc, all of which have their merits, but not without flexibility to deviate when needed....

When form changes, or you recognise an error, or see an opportunity, no reason not to make early changes...

        AWB - Zinchenko - Pieters - Lundstram - Kelly

yea good point, 11.5mil for Mane makes my eyes pop tbh. Thats gotta be the most over-priced player in pl (imo). i have watched Mane for a logn time and he can be brilliant but he is just not on the same level as Salah imo. Salah probably brings the ebst out of him tbh.
Many will disagree with me but Salah is world class player, Mane is not

1 FT. 1m in bank. Pondering 4 Transfer Options.
    a) McGinn -> Mount. Both AVL and Chelsea have good fixtures ahead. But Mount looks more exciting.
    b) M Kean -> Pukki. Took a punt and didn't pay off. Pukki seems no brainer at this moment though Norwich have some tough games ahead.
    c) Murray -> Pukki.
    d) Salah -> Mane. Kind of feeling Mane will provide more value for money. May be eventually I will switch to Mane.

@Diesel001, have you been convinced by our midfield diamond/shite winger formation then? Or was the blinded fan right? Guarantee you as soon as one of our CMs comes off and Maddison is no longer at LW, we start to play better.

I think you have been stunned by Chelsea's intensity tbh. I think Perez is an issue though - would prefer to see Albrighton there.

Honestly at least Perez holds the attacking shape up, which allows Ricardo to help him out on that side. Maddison as a LW offers absolutely nothing. If Albrighton had to come on, I'd rather see him on the LW than RW. Although, I'd prefer Barnes on over him.

I prefer Leicester in these games against big teams when they play a longer ball and pick up the pieces off Vardy. But I think over time Rodgers will get you beating the weaker teams with his attacking philosophy.

This is what I would go with:

        Schmeichel
        Pereira Evans Soyuncu Chilwell*
        Choudhury Tielemens Ndidi
        Albrighton Vardy Maddison

        * Fuchs today

    Wan BissakA OR Mina?

    Pick two:

    A) Pukki
    B) Barnes
    C) Jota
    D) Trossard
    E) Mount

yep, Mount probably in the same bracket as Trossard. A risk to minutes but very dangerous

Couple of quick questions during HT

    1) VVD + Kane or
    2) C.Wilson + Son...both cost 17.5m

    A) Salah + Rashford + Pukki or
    B) TAA + Kane + KDB....
