Barkley and Abraham benched as injured Chilwell misses out

Chelsea take on Leicester City in the second and final Premier League fixture to take place on Sunday.

Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 16:30 BST.

There has only been one goal scored in the last three league meetings between these two clubs: two stalemates sandwiching the Foxes’ 1-0 win in west London in December 2018.

The Chelsea starting XI shows only one change from the side that took on Liverpool in midweek, with Mason Mount (£6.0m) replacing Mateo Kovacic (£5.5m) in midfield.

That means there is again no place for Ross Barkley (£6.0m) or Tammy Abraham (£7.0m), who are among the substitutes.

Pedro (£7.0m) and Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) will flank Olivier Giroud (£7.0m) in the Blues’ attack, while Willian (£7.0m) makes the bench.

Ben Chilwell (£5.5m) won’t feature for the visitors this afternoon, with his place at left-back being taken by Christian Fuchs (£4.5m).

Chilwell misses out with a minor hip injury.

That is Brendan Rodgers’ only change to the side that drew 0-0 with Wolves in Gameweek 1, so Ayoze Perez (£6.5m) and James Maddison (£7.0m) will again support Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) in attack.

The Foxes are without a Premier League goal in three matches stretching back to April of last season, although have admittedly faced tricky opposition in the form of Wolves, Manchester City and Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea in that time.

Rodgers’ side managed only three shots from inside the box against a stubborn Wolves side last weekend.

They may get more joy out of a Chelsea backline that has shipped six goals in their two competitive matches in 2019/20, however.

Lampard’s troops also conceded on eight occasions in their final three pre-season friendlies.

The Blues look more promising going forward, however, having racked up 38 shots against Manchester United and Liverpool over the past week.

Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Pedro, Mount, Pulisic, Giroud.

Leicester City XI (4-3-3): Schmeichel, Ricardo, Evans, Soyuncu, Fuchs, Choudhury, Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison, Perez, Vardy.

    Currently on a WC.

Which two would you choose out of Rico, Kelly, Hanley? Thinking Hanley has looked shaky, but is he nailed since he's the captain or could Klose take his spot once fit?

Pope or Ryan? Any other 4.5 goalie?

Keep Dendoncker or switch to Cantwell?

Wildcard done, had to pull the trigger with Rico, Ings, Robinson, Perez, Zouma.

    Wildcard team:

    Ryan, Adrian
    VVD, Mina, Laporte, Söyüncü, Lundstram
    Mane, Sterling, KDB, Martial, Ceballos
    Pukki, Barnes, Martinelli
    0,2 itb

The plan is 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 with rotation between Ceballos and Barnes.
Really happy with this team. Strong defense and a midfield that can score many points. Attack we will see if they can keep this up.

Only concern is that Salah and Kane can punish me. But i prefer Mane so i can have Laporte who is nailed in the City defense with the upcoming fixtures. Don't wanna feel Peps rotation with the other defenders in those games.

Can you see any improvements or am i GTG?

How's this draft chaps? Trying to cover most/all areas. May end up swapping Martial for Digne/Ceballos/Barnes etc. and improving bench..

    Ryan
    VVD, AWB, Zinchenko, Lundstram
    Mane, Sterling, KDB, Son, Martial
    Pukki

    (Button, Kelly, Greenwood, Wickham)

    Cheers.

Looks good but i would prefer a better bench because only one of them is playing and Kelly is not nailed when the injured players comes back. And you can't be sure with the 3 City players because of Peps rotation. Then you need a better bench imo.
      Midfield is flaming hot tho.

Cheers. Will see how Martial gets on tomorrow. May end up with Barnes instead of Martial/Son and then at least I get Dendoncker on the bench.

Yes same here, i actually would like Rashford before Martial but budget keeps me away. If you put in Dendocker maybe you have money over to do KellySöyüncü. 0,5 more for a nailed defender in a team like Leicester improves that team a lot imo.

Bit of help please, just looking at the ICT index but not 100% sure what I’m looking at. I get that it’s made up of Influence, Creativity and Threat, but what scale are those rated on individually? Say someone has 80.0 influence, is that out of 100.0? And same question for creativity and Threat. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I get that bit but what is the scale? Like if Stirling was over 100.0 then what’s the maximum it can be out of? I assume the higher the the ICT the better is the simple way to look at it.

Frank will fail as Chelsea manager, step too far for him I’m afraid, some bad decisions made, 2 bad decisions as follows.

    A. Why did he bring on Abraham? The lad seems to be out of his depth,no?

    B. You need a goal & you bring on Kovacic, Barkley was the better solution.

Frank will be back at derby this time next year.
