Scout Notes

De Bruyne firmly on FPL radar after double-digit haul

Raheem Sterling (£12.1m) made it four goals in two Premier League matches as Manchester City were held by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.

It was the performance of Kevin De Bruyne (£9.6m) that really caught the eye, though, and we lead on the Belgian’s impressive display against the Lilywhites in our Scout Notes article below.

We also round up the other Fantasy talking points at the Etihad and provide some Members’ analysis at the bottom of this piece.

Manchester City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

  • Goals: Raheem Sterling (£12.1m), Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) | Erik Lamela (£6.0m), Lucas Moura (£7.5m)
  • Assists: Kevin De Bruyne (£9.6m) x2 | Lamela, Tanguy Ndombele (£6.1m)
  • Bonus Points: De Bruyne – 3, Lamela – 2, Ndombele – 1

After just two matches of the new season, De Bruyne already has as many Fantasy Premier League assists to his name as he did in an injury-ravaged 2018/19.

It is perhaps premature to say the Belgian is back to his scintillating best given that we are not yet out of August but few would argue that De Bruyne was the most influential player on show at the Etihad on Saturday, having looked in ominously good form in pre-season and in Gameweek 1.

The player himself said of his Gameweek 2 display:

I feel good and I’m becoming better. It’s still the beginning of the season so sometimes it’s heavy but I feel fine so everything will be OK this season.

Many Fantasy managers will still have reservations based on last season, given De Bruyne’s injury record: the former Chelsea and Wolfsburg midfielder had five separate spells on the sidelines with fitness issues of varying severity.

De Bruyne’s comments above even hint that he is still some way from feeling in top condition physically.

FPL bosses with longer memories will recall that the Belgium international made 36 and 37 Premier League appearances in 2016/17 and 2017/18, however, with all bar four of those coming from the start.

A fit and firing De Bruyne is a Fantasy force to be reckoned with, as Gameweek 2 underscored.

The Belgian playmaker was the supplier of Sterling and Sergio Aguero‘s (£12.0m) goals with two superb crosses from the right and would have claimed a hat-trick of assists had Ilkay Gundogan (£5.5m) not planted a side-footed effort narrowly wide on the stroke of half-time.

De Bruyne created three times as many opportunities as anyone else on show in Manchester and indeed registered more key passes than any other FPL asset in Gameweek 2 so far.

Assists are more likely than goals (that has been the case in each of his five previous seasons as a Premier League player) but De Bruyne is fond of a shot and more than capable of finding the back of the net himself.

Against Spurs, the Belgian whistled an effort narrowly wide of Hugo Lloris‘ (£5.5m) goal just after half-time, having earlier sliced an effort uncharacteristically high and wide when well positioned in the Spurs box.

One of the possible downsides to De Bruyne as a Fantasy asset (certainly compared to the likes of Sterling) is his more deep-lying position in central midfield.

It was notable on Saturday, however, just how advanced he was, often underlapping Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) on the right flank.

The superb Portugal international certainly wasn’t peripheral on Saturday – only Sterling had more shots and penalty box touches at Eastlands – but his limitations as a Fantasy asset were perhaps illustrated by the fact that he ‘assisted the assister’ for both of City’s goals.

Bernardo lobbed an effort against Lloris’s bar in the second half, unsurprisingly from a De Bruyne corner.

The Belgian’s continued availability and creativity could also be crucial to Sterling and Aguero this season.

The Argentinean striker was otherwise fairly quiet on his first start of 2019/20 and was indebted to De Bruyne’s teasing low ball from the right to double his goals tally for the new season.

Aguero was hooked for Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) midway through the second half, prompting a heated exchange between player and manager.

Pep Guardiola downplayed talk of any row after the game, saying:

He believes that I was upset with him for the goal we conceded but that was a corner, it was a one vs one movement.

He thought I was upset with him, I am animated but I was a player, I know what it’s like. We talked after and during, I love him a lot as a player.

Sterling gave Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) a torrid afternoon down the left flank, especially in the first half, and scored a rare headed goal when nipping in front of his marker after 19 minutes.

In truth, we didn’t learn much new about the England winger as he carried on where he left off in 2018/19, registering more penalty box touches than any other Premier League player in Gameweek 2.

Another season of 30+ attacking returns likely beckons if he stays fit, particularly if De Bruyne can avoid injury.

City were utterly dominant in this game, having a late winner chalked off after VAR intervention and allowing Spurs just three shots on goal – two of which found the back of the net – and five penalty box touches.

The fact that they didn’t register a clean sheet would have been a great source of frustration to Fantasy managers and indeed Guardiola, who said after full-time:

We played incredible. One of the best games we’ve played in our time together. We played good, but unfortunately we could not win.

The way we arrive, create chances and put Tottenham deeper when they wanted to press. Unfortunately, when they cross the line they score and then a set-piece. Nothing else.

We play Tottenham, one of the best teams in Europe. Today was fantastic in everything we have done, our pressing, closing spaces, controlling counter-attacks and creating chances.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m) was part of the City backline that was breached but John Stones (£5.5m) missed out with a thigh problem.

A club statement said:

John Stones has suffered a rectus femoris strain and will miss today’s game at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The defender will be assessed and a prognosis is likely next week.

Owners of Spurs’ assets can probably just put this Gameweek 2 performance to one side and look forward to easier tests ahead, as Saturday’s display was almost non-existent from an attacking perspective.

Harry Kane (£11.0m) and Christian Eriksen (£8.9m) had little chance to impress, with Kane starved of service up top and Eriksen asked to play on the left of midfield in a 4-4-1-1.

The Dane spent much of his afternoon chasing shadows and perhaps showed his defensive naivety in that position given the time De Bruyne had to cross the ball from City’s right flank.

Erik Lamela (£6.0m) was the one bright spark as he curled in a strange equaliser from distance in the first half (Ederson‘s (£6.1m) positioning definitely up for debate) before assisting substitute Lucas Moura (£7.5m) for the visitors’ second leveller from a corner.

Even Lamela, providing support for Kane, was mostly tasked with pressing Rodri (£5.5m) in the centre of the hosts’ midfield and Mauricio Pochettino clearly set his stall out to sit deep.

The Spurs boss admitted his side were second-best, saying:

I think they were better. I think they dominated the game. It was clear the game. Of course, with the different circumstances of both teams, I am happy with the result. It was a very positive result for us here, one point. I’m happy because of the point but like I said after the game against Aston Villa we need to improve a lot.

An away match at City is unlike any other, of course, and we can expect Spurs to show a similar level of attacking ambition against Newcastle next Sunday as they exhibited in Gameweek 1 when racking up 31 shots against Aston Villa.

Who joins Kane in the attacking positions is another question and Pochettino’s wealth of options is one of the downsides of owning a Spurs midfielder at present.

Lucas and Lamela presented convincing cases at the Etihad but Son Heung-min (£9.5m) now returns from suspension and Giovani Lo Celso (£7.5m) registered his first Premier League minutes as a substitute at the weekend.

Eriksen could yet stay in north London, too, while Dele Alli (£8.4m) is another name to throw into the mix when he returns from a hamstring injury.

Further back, Tanguy Ndombele (£6.1m) registered his second attacking return of the season with the assist for Lamela’s goal, although that was his only key pass and he registered just two final-third touches as Spurs struggled for meaningful possession.

Jan Vertonghen (£5.4m) again failed to start but there was another run-out at right-back for Walker-Peters.

Serge Aurier (£5.0m) wasn’t among the substitutes on Saturday and, with Juan Foyth (£5.0m) sidelined with an ankle injury, Walker-Peters’ owners will be hoping that the shirt is his to lose heading into Gameweek 3.

Reflecting on Walker-Peters’ display, Pochettino said:

I think he still needs to improve. He’s still so young. It’s not easy. When you’re a back-up player, your excitement and motivation is massive when you have the possibility to play. It’s an amazing opportunity no? You are focused 200 per cent to show you can play, but when you start to feel the responsibility that you are first choice we’ll see how he’s going to behave.

Today I think was a massive test to play against one of the best offensive players like Sterling. I think one thing good, but other needs to improve on. He’s still so young but the experience will be massive for him.

    2FT, players I'm looking at:

Laporte, Ceballos, Mount, Trossard, Martial, Son, Maupay, Pukki, Vardy, Kane

    Team is:

    Heaton
    TAA | VVD | Zinchenko | Coleman
    Salah | Sterling | Fraser | Perez
    Wilson | Jota

    Woodman | Dendonker | Lundstram | Greenwood

1.0m in the bank but Fraser dropped 0.1, thoughts on transfers? Not against a -4 / -8 if the moves look worth it.

You're looking at bringing Vardy in? I haven't seen them play yet but 1 shot in 180 minutes is dreadful for 9 mil.

Purely because of next 2 fixtures, they will click eventually.

He's on my radar but in reality probably won't bring him in.

Wilson to Pukki, Fraser to Martial potentially this week. Depending on how tonight goes.

I’d be tempted just to do Fraser to Martial if he looks half good tonight.

Next week it could all be about doubling up on United.

Work out when you will captain Kane and if you have other decent options that GW. If you can captain someone else those weeks Kane is strong then go KDB.

E.g. Kane (NEW) vs Sterling (bou) GW 3 or Kane (SOT) vs Salah (shu) GW 7

Thanks all - this is the trouble. KDB seems incredible value, but Kane is great for captaincy.

Basically one can't have all of Sterling, Salah, KDB and Kane easily. That's the trouble. Have to lose one.

While there are merits to holding transfers and staying calm, there can also be a case made for an early GW3 WC.

Which are you choosing and why?

Keep in mind that, since we have different teams, no decision is necessarily wrong; and also that we won't know for a few weeks whether our decisions have really 'worked'.

What is pushing you towards the WC decision you're making? Who are the key players involved?

    1. TheDragon
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

Not wildcarding - still way too much uncertainty about what is the right team structure let alone which players are ‘needed’ - the player pool of potential options is still very wide as we wait for more data.

Wildcarding this early I think is high risk with potential for very high reward (but I’m boring so I won’t WC yet)

Get KDB in before FFS publish article praises him. That article is too late depending he already get a price rise.

I foolishly thought a few of my players would hit the ground running but it hasn’t happened and now I’m getting left behind. On one hand two weeks of data is very little to base our team decisions on. However, if the points gap gets too big then an early WC is worth considering. I’m on the fence but will likely hit the trigger over next day or two. Everyone should play their own game and not get flak for suggesting an early WC, imo.

For me, luckily it's easy. I got off to a great start in GW1 so made no changes. Doing pretty well GW2 so no real concerns. Have the luxury of using 2FTs to catch a couple of rising stars.

In my opinion, it's when you mess up and have some under-performing players that you need to panic a bit. What I find quite extraordinary is people who made perfectly fine starts but want to WC to jump on a few players who had one good week with no guarantee that it's sustainable.

I usually Wildcard after GW 3 if I feel I am missing the big hitters that look to be firing early on in the season. If I am happy with the spine of my team, making a few transfers to shuffle around some of the enablers is no issue.

It's just harder to change up the team to accomodate the big hitters. It also depends on the strategy you've set out and how much effort you put into selecting players that have a good run of 6ish games.

I always look at this and kind of reset after 5-6 weeks and look at the fixture ticker again.

There are some players that are shining now and showing form, however the sample size is to small and some of them might be temporary, next week some of those will get replaced by someone else who scores a brace and thwt wc might not look that good after all. Unless your team is an absolute mess I think holding on with the wc until you need it more urgently or when we get a larger sample size of players/teams that are performing. An example is people getting rid of Pool defenders, honestly think they are still value and will be hard to ignore, especially TAA. If you get rid it will be hard to get them in...

Best to use your first WC between GW4-GW8 IMO. It is when information about players is still valuable enough to make lots of moves and take advantage of price rises.

As you go past GW8 then the pool of potential picks decreases significantly (you know 70%+ of the players are not valuable in FPL by then), but also the pool of FPL managers actively managing their team decreases significantly which makes price rises less likely.

Holding for now. Nothing that a couple of hits won’t solve. I may lose some TV but think there will be better opportunities to use the WC.

Not wildcarding as I think my issues are not too big - can always solve them with 2 FTs + a hit if any.

I'd want more time to assess the budget forward options + the Chelsea picks

      Not wildcarding, feels too early.

Sterling KDB Pukki look like ‘must haves’ at the moment, but it’s not enough to WC I don’t think.

Another few clean sheets crossed out for Liverpool could see it though...

i am a bit behind points-wise but i am fairly happy with my team and i will try to get upward by doing good and timely managed transfers before i wc. WC now if you are a bit behind will need some big risks anyway to catch up and i feel i have enough players that can get me up the ranking as it is. or down if it continues.. And a lot of teams and players still difficult to judge properly, teams and players from Chelsea, Southampton, Watford, West ham etc, so i´ll wait a while i think. might change if i still get beaten next week i guess-)

Yes, we all have different teams so there is right or wrong decision.
I see replies to this HT already saying "not enough data" .. this could be true, Liverpool could get 6 CS in a row. But the opposite could also be true, KDB could get double digits 6 GWs in a row.
One reply says people are "stupid" for planning IB WC but I stopped reading that one.
The real answer is: your squad is unique and only you can decide if a WC is a good idea. Go with your gut and have fun with it.
      Personally, I decided a -4 will suffice.
I now have Walker, Sterling, Mane, KDB, Kane and Firmino, with assorted rubbish in the other slots.
I will WC when some big hitters that I don't have are smashing it.
      Good luck everyone.

Certainly considering it this week - tonight will play a big role in the decision.
Doing fine but some underperforming and non-starting players (Deeny, Robinson, Guilbert) and a lot of money tied up in Double pool defence makes the moves I want a bit harder.
Key players will be Spurs attacker, KDB, potential man utd attack and shifting funds in defence.
Want to make the changes before they become out of reach.

Triple Man City - Sterling, KdB & Walker/La Porte.
Get rid of Wilson & Fraser.
      Ride on Pukki/Barnes/United train.

There’s a number of cheap players emerging as real possibilities - Pukki, Barnes, McGinn, Lundstram and Pope to name a few across the positions. If you didn’t start with them, you can build an effective team around having them plus the key big hitters from Liverpool or City. Worth considering at this stage.

In previous years i've been quite cautious with WC usually holding out till near Christmas so i can use the second one for double game weeks. It's usually meant i've been chasing in the second half of the season, yet never managed to really crack top 100k, let alone better so this year trying to be more aggressive.

Early punts on Leno, Moura, Fraser and King, Adams, Perez and double liverpool defence have been a bit meh and while i'm hovering around 220k i'll drop a lot tonight and GW 3's team was looking pretty poor even with 4 transfers and a -8.

I have Sterling and Salah, but wanted to get KDB and Son or Kane in while putting in early season form punts. Still fiddling to try and get Rashford or a united midfielder in but pretty confident i'll be 30+ points better off this GW and pretty stable side up to GW 10.

I have an OK team but the question for me is do I want to use WC aggressively and get some Spurs,UTD and City players, rather than defensively when they become template

I thought about moving Salah on in GW6 but doing it now seems strange - same with Liverpool defenders, and seemed KDB played more of a 'CAM' role against Spurs which he didn't against West Ham. Son hasn't played yet, the best defence/s isn't obvious, Martial could be great value, players like Wilson/Moura just returned 2 weeks in a row - some lineups aren't even fully known yet ... but if your team is bad I guess it's an easy choice

Always wildcard between weeks 3 and 5 and its worked well for me in the past three years with three inside top 10k finishes.

This week was marginal for me until i saw KDB on Saturday and how far forward he is playing so i've hit the button to get in KDB, Martial (playing centre fwd for Man U at 7.6m midfield), Lundstrum (no explan needed) and to change my strikers from Adams & Wilson to Pukki & Jota.

As you say not right for everyone but i've always been a fairly aggressive player and want to get on the front foot quickly this year.

No one can say we "don't have enough information" in terms of wanting Sterling, KDB and pukki. Similarly, in seeing Perez and Frazer as extremely lackluster.

With the prices of the first two, this alone can warrant a WC - as it has for me- if you don't have them.

There are still tricky calls, such as on Liverpool defence, mane/Salah/son choice etc... but there will always be such unknowns.

Having to have sterling is no longer an unknown...if it ever was 🙁

Tempted but its too early. Some of the player data and performances are skewed by the quality of the opposition. We need to wait to see how players perform against weaker or tougher opponents.

Well, here we are. I'm going to admit I have wildcarded, due to a number of push and pull factors. I'm going to list them here as it may help out you guys, please also feel free to pull my thinking apart where appropriate.

Firstly, (and this is a person specific point) it turns out going to remote Scotland with no phone signal or internet for 5 days in the run up to the season start, and then finalising your squad in Charnock Richard service station off the M6 is not the ideal preparation for an FPL season. Finding out Maguire was a United player at 5pm on the Friday for example was not the sort of shock news I needed when processing time was at a premium! This is the main reason I don't feel too bad about wildcarding so early, the preparation time had not gone into my initial squad. Anyway..

      Push Factors

      Current squad:

      Heaton, Button
      Robertson, VVD, Laporte, Zouma, Lundstrum
      Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Perez, Dendonker
      Wilson, King, Greenwood

Heaton - He is a good keeper, but the defence in front of him is awful. Or at least not as good as Burnley's. I had doubts over Pope's fitness and their number of goalkeepers at Burnley at season start, but this has been disproven, Pope has been his usual excellent self. Therefore Pope looks good for the season now, barring injury.

Liverpool double up - This is the aspect that has most surprised me. I was aware of some overperformace last season from Liverpool, so expected some regression to the mean, but no clean sheet against either Norwich or Southampton is very surprising. Liverpool seem to be giving up far more chances than they ever did last season, which is a major concern. Their xG against is frankly alarming. Coupled with this is the fact that they are playing with a reserve keeper. I believe Allison to be one of the best keepers in the world and prevents several goals a season more than an average keeper "should" let in. So without him, coupled with giving up more shots anyway, is leading to a reduced chance of clean sheets. Furthermore, the medium term fixtures don't look that promising anyway, so I don't think this is a bad time to reduce down from 2 defenders to 1.

Zouma - I don't need to say much here. Unfathomably awful, and surely at risk of being dropped imminently anyway by Lampard.

Salah - Has done ok, but outside of GW5 would you captain him between now and about week 14? I don't think I will, so he is dispensable

Sigurdsson - Everton are weird. They lose a Zouma who was performing well for them last season, Gueye, one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe, play with 10 men, have gomes injured for half a game, and have scheiderlin suspended. Result? 2 clean sheets. they add 60m of attacking talent to their squad. Result? 1 goal in 180 minutes. and nothing from their Icelandic talisman. I've seen enough.

      Perez - completely peripheral.

Wilson & King - Have done ok, but these were 2 of the best fixtures possible. I think Howe may be trying to instill some defensive ability, but it is costing them offensively. Either that or they miss Brooks. Or playing with a Billing/Lerma midfield is utterly disgusting and completely bereft of ball progression and creative quality. I don't even think their defending has improved.

      Pull factors

      Pope - already mentioned

Digne - a mistake to go without him. the reasons were there as I've touched on, but he's disproving them and continues to have good fixtures, assuming not injured.

AWB - This is a bit of a wait and see based on tonights game. However, he seems to be continuing his ability he had at Palace of being a BPS magnet. It really caught my eye he picked up 2 bp in a 4-0 win in which he had no attacking returns! Nice fixtures to come too.

KDB - 2 factors here, firstly KDB himself, who looks fully fit and back to his brilliant best. 9 ppg from not brilliant fixtures, with better fixtures to come looks too good to ignore. Secondly, Manchester City look even better than last year. Their xG in both games so far is over 3 goals. One of these was against the CL finalists! I feel I need a double up on their attack with the fixtures to come.

Martial - Possibly another mistake. Had no idea he was no. 9 material. The sale of Lukaku completely passed me by and I didn't recognise that this would open up a path to the first 11 as clearly as it has. I was still looking at last season where he was a fringe player who may even have been on his way out. Another one to assess tonight.

Todd Cantwell - Not a name I expected to be on this list even 4 days ago! My attention to him was first piqued when it was revealed that Hernandez, his main rival for the spot, is out injured for 3 months, bringing in a 4.5m starter into the first team in an attacking midfield slot. Then he went and got 2 assists against Newcastle. I think he is first 11 material in my team and can be benched when appropiate.

Pukki - He feels like a modern day Luca Toni, who is enjoying a late career bloom into a 20 goal a season striker. All goals have been well taken thus far. the fixtures aren't great but you need to get on these potential season keepers early I think. I do wonder how much of it was down to Newcastle being awful though which brings me to...…

Kane - The spurs fixtures are strong now. I can't even begin to guess the midfield at this stage so I'm going to go with the guaranteed starter at home to Newcastle. Also a captain option in my squad.

Lundstrum has shown himself to be a viable 4.0m rotator which opens up more formation options and flexability I think.

There's still a couple of slots i'm unsure of. I'd quite like a 4.5m defender who can rotate with Cantwell, Dendonker, and Lundstrum. Possibly Dunk or Montoya? I also am unsure on Striker 2, no one has yet made a case other than Ashley Barnes, but Burnley's fixtures are even worse than Pukki's. I think this lends itself well to a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation.

      In conclusion, something like:

      Pope, Button

      VVD, Laporte, Digne/AWB, 4.5m, Lundstrum
      Sterling, KDB, Martial, Cantwell, Dendonker
      Kane, ?, Pukki

Anyone got anything to add on how they see the shape of the season shaping up?

Interesting, my squad was somewhat similar to yours, I went into week 2 with

        Pope, Button
        Robertson, VVD, Digne, Zinchenko, Lundstrum
        Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Perez, Dendonker
        Wilson, King, Greenwood

        I do note that
        - I have Pope, so no need to shift
        - My defence has Digne and Zinchenko

I have not wildcarded, I ditched Robertson and Siggy for Dunk and KDB and have 1 mill left in the bank....

I may get take a -4 (Rashford for Wilson) or even maybe a -8 (Wilson to Pukki, Perez to Martial)….. but for my side I think wildcard was not necessary, looking at yours, I can see why you chose to wildcard. If you had started with my back 5, would you have still wildcarded?

RE Kane - despite returning in week 1, he has not looked particularly good so far this season. But I would admit, there are hardly any strikers that I want and a myriad of midfielders.

That said - Re your wildcard - I do like your choices.

I am shocked how many veteran players are using early WC.

In previous years yes, it was a strategy because transfer window was closed on 31 august and there were still new transfers to come in so we didn't know exactly which player will play regularly when september, (i.e. first international break) starts.

Now this is not the case and who knows if there won't be couple injuries happens in december when teams play 8 games in a month. There is gonna be rotation and you will need all your 15 players play.

Besides there is a factor that Liverpool will be off sometimes in december for club world cup.

I'm happy with my 140 points in two GW with still Jimenez plays tonight and 2 FT is enough for me to make necessary moves.

I went for a mini wildcard of 3 transfers using my 2 free and took a hit.

Out - Haller, Richarlison, Robertson (still have VVD)

      In - Son, AWB, Pukki

Have money in the bank to upgrade Perez next week.

I often wildcard early, but not this year. It's easy to think that with a wildcard you could get the perfect team, but within a couple of weeks the 'perfect' team will look quite different. I'll save my wildcard for when injuries hit or for the Christmas period when games come thick and fast and rotation kicks in.

      Wilcarded.

Getting in Kane before GW3 has always been my plan, so there was that.

But I also didnt want a Pool def double up anymore, not without Alisson on the pitch; I really wanted KDB, and confident Mané will score similar points as Salah over the course of the season. Impressed with Ceballos (not because of his well documented ‘lucky’ assists, but because I actually watched the whole game) and confident he could prove a season keeper.

Was happy to get rid of Perez Fraser Wilson Jota.

Activated last night. Moderately happy with my start (150k), but too many fires to put out (Guilbert, Taylor, Rico, Fraser) and potential injury/rotation risks (Moura, Digne, Perez) coupled with players dropping mean I'd rather attack my transfer issues aggressively than spend the next several weeks taking hits to put out fires.

People wildcarding this early don't have enough information. They've poorly planned the season start, are impatient and don't have faith in their players, or they've been very unlucky. Surely there aren't enough fires to put out in their team that a -4 can't fix. I'm looking at 1st international break, not for price rises but the fixture swings

I wouldn’t take out Salah in your position (I’m in a similar boat and have kept Salah and sacrificed Trossard and TAA to get KDB in)

Yeh interesting take on it, really like Trossard though! But KDB seems essential

zinchenko in is no great, I expect him to drop to the bench in a couple of weeks time. KDB is better than Kane if you are going to move - Pepe and Wilson are the weak links this week

Really benched Zinchenko ? He has great fixture i think

It’s hard to see how Lundstram get dropped but I think Kelly only has 1 more game max in him

Best forward for 7 going into the next 4 games. I'm thinking of WC after that.
Pukki- even though he has bad fixtures?
Abraham - seems he has the spot, he has to score during the next 3. Good fixt.
    King- terrible fixt.
    Barnes?
    Maupay?

Depends on position. For strikers/midfielders: shots in the box, big chances, pen box touches.

I have a general rule that if there are at least 5 players in my team that need to go then an early wc is fair game, but im on the fence & would appreciate some feedback.

    Pope Heaton
    Awb TAA Lundstrum Dunk BALBUENA
    Salah Sterling FRASER PEREZ Martial
    Wilson ABRAHAM Greenwood

    Got 2 fts & considering Fraser & Abraham -> Mount & Haller.

    Thoughts?

Fraser & Abraham have to go - there must be something better than mount and haller though

I like the Mount pick. Chelsea have to get wins on the board, he is a favorite of Lampard and they have good fixtures coming up.

No idea why people are scrambling to get rid of Bournemouth assets though...

It’s still early in the season and so people are still looking only at the next gameweek and they have city.

The start of the season is very frantic but should settle down a bit more soon

Jota is gonna be in my team for the foreseeable.. One of the few 6.5 players in the game I can trust. That being said I also have Kane and pukki so I'm in no hurry to get anyone else. I'd still prefer Jota over pukki tbh though I'd prefer both.

I have dropped -4 PTS to get in a few players and save my WC.

    Robertson > Wan Bissaka
    Siggy > KDB

    Pope,
    V Dijk, Zinchenko, Wan Bissaka
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, Martial, Cantwell
    Pukki, King

    (Heaton, Digne, Rico, Greenwood)

People were calling me mad before Gameweek 1 sticking in Norwich players, we played so well last seasonm that i knew we'd make an impact on the Premier League this time around!
