FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 3

It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

I'd be 0.2 short...Perez and Wesley are the main ones I'm unhappy with. Liverpool can't seem to keep a clean sheet these days (VVD) and not sure how much longer Zinch will be starting.

    Salah Sterling Martial Siggy Perez
    Pukki King

Best way to get KDB in? Currently thinking Siggy+Perez->KDB+Mount/Lanzini/Ceballos,

B Wilson to Pukki, Moura to KDB and TAA to AWB -4

C Jota to Kane, Wilson to Pukki, Moura to Ceballos and TAA to AWB -8

For those weighing up whether to play WC or take a few hits now, don't forget that if you are WCing now you are probably not WCing again for about 30 GWs, so you are likely to be taking a lot of hits as the season progresses.

Yup, maybe I'm getting all sensible in my old age but there seems to be some shocking wildcard teams posted on here today! Pure kneejerk unnecessary ones, the vast majority!
I love the thought of an aggressive wildcard but the clarity isn't there yet imo!

Early WC is a totally valid option though - build team value early and capitalise on high volumes of players. Also helps to clean up any f*#% ups when picking teams based on pre- season. Just saying for balance.

      1. Now I'm Panicking
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

Of course - if your team needs it then play it - I'm just pointing out something to consider if torn between playing it and taking a couple of hits 🙂

Depends on what state your squad is in, whether a wildcard would improve your squad more if played now or if saved till nearer Christmas, and how many hits you would need to take or how many points you would miss if you don't play your wildcard.

Either play the wildcard now and take the hits later or take the hits now and play the wildcard later.

What if you are only on 120 points now? What if you can increase TV whilst catching some bandwagons now? What if you are using tour wildcard to try and get ahead now, rather than using it later to catch up?

      1. Now I'm Panicking
        • 9 Years

I would love to be on 120 points now! My initial team wasn't just for the first 2 GWs though, and I knew my team would struggle on paper GW2 - hoping that playing the long game will work out....

Marco Silva says Moise Kean cannot suddenly be expected to become a starter for Everton after spending most of last season on the bench at Juventus.
The 19-year-old summer signing has made two appearances as a substitute so far and Silva is not minded to change his approach with the £25m recruit.
Kean was in Juve's squad for Serie A games 32 times last season but only started five matches and got just eight games from the bench.

Silva says the teenager needs to be given a gradual introduction to life in the Premier League and to be given more feedback than other players as he continues to learn the craft of being a frontman.
“The Premier League is Premier League even if they have quality when they come here,” Silva said.
“J-P (Gbamin) is 23-year-old and he had to adapt fast to the pace, the intensity, he has to think faster in the Premier League to perform better every single match.

“About Moise Kean, it is completely different. You are talking about a really young player and we have to give, everytime, feedback to him, information to him because he has to learn as fast as he can but you are talking about a young football player.

“Look at last season, he only played five matches from the start and so normally his game is to come in and not start football matches so we have to give time to him to learn as fast as he can because he can help the team in specific moments of the game but it is up to us to work with him.”

KDB is a nice to have but you have to downgrade your defence and replace Martial who is playing up front.

1-1 i think, don't fancy us to get a win there tbh but think it will be low scoring.

Would baines start if digne is injured? If digne is out for some time baines could be a bargain.

He likely won't be out long though. Baines may not be match fit yet.

baines is injured rn, he wasn't on the bench vs Watford and Silva hasn't yet said when Baines will be fit

also Digne walked onto the pitch fine after the game and picked up Bernard celebrating, really don't think it will be that serious.

    Thoughts on this effort

    Pope 4
    TAA Digne AwB* KwP Lund
    Sterling KdB Mane Martial Ceballos
    Kean Pukki 4.5

    * placeholder for Cancelo.

AWB a placeholder for Cancelo? You'll be waiting a while for that.

    How's this draft chaps?

    Pope
    Zinchenko, AWB, Lundstram, Dunk
    Mane, Sterling, KDB, Martial
    Kane, Pukki

    (Button, Dendoncker, Soyuncu, Greenwood)

Lundstram/Dunk/Dendoncker/Soyuncu rotation looks decent for the next 4 weeks.

    Cheers

I think the Alison injury is a big deal, so I wouldnt worry too much about pool defence right now. only critique I would say is, could you fit Digne in? I think hes amazing

Cheers. Could do AWB or Zinchenko to Digne but then downgrading Soyuncu means Kelly on the bench?

    Pope
    AWB / VVD / Montoya
    Salah / Sterling / Martial / Perez
    King / Kane(c) / Wesley

    Button / Dendonk / Mings / Lundstram

    G2G this week...?

Plan is to save FT next week and use 2 FTs and possibly a mini wildcard to sort out Perez, King and Wesley, if they’re still not pulling their weight...

    Pope - Button
    Robertson - VVD - Digne - Zinchenko - Lundstram
    Sterling - KDB - Salah - Perez - Dendocker
    King - Jota - Greenwood

Best option below? 2FT, 0ITB Thanks

    A) Roll FT
    B) Robbo & Perez > AWB/Maguire & Martial (free)
    C) Robbo & King > AWB/Maguire & Pukki (free)

    Ryan
    TAA VVD Digne Zinchenko
    Salah Sterling Fraser Perez
    Wilson Jota

    Button Dendoncker Greenwood Rico

    2 FT + 0.5itb, Fraser + Wilson -> Martial + Kean (?)
or go ballsier and do TAA + Fraser + Wilson -> Lundstram + Martial + Kane for a -4?

Would love to hear your thoughts
