How to handle FPL bandwagons in early Gameweeks

The latest episode of the Scoutcast is about to start on our YouTube channel.

You can watch the show from 8pm to 9pm BST.

This week, Joe is joined by Az and David to discuss the key Fantasy Premier League talking points ahead of Gameweek 3.

The next round of action is an important one for Fantasy managers as many will be wielding their two free transfers.

Already bandwagons have begun to form, so our Scoutcasters will be discussing how best to approach these.

Naturally, Teemu Pukki (£6.7m) is a prime example after he scored a hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

However, we will also be examining Liverpool assets after a lacklustre start to the season at both ends of the pitch.

    Jimenez > pukki
    Robinson > kdb
    TAA > soyuncu

    Salah > mane
    VVD > zinchenko

  10. TheDragon

    Last time....

    1FT
    Ryan (Button)
    Vvd, ROBERTSON, Digne, Soyuncu (Lundstram)
    Sterling, Salah, Kdb, PEREZ, (ROBINSON)
    KING, Jota (Greenwood)

Really not sure what to do. Players in CAPS are potential issues (along with having no united or spurs players)

    A) Save FT
    B) Robbo -> AWB (frees up funds for other transfers next week)
    C) Robbo & Perez -> AWB & Martial -4 (likely to give me 0.4 better team value)
    D) Robbo & Perez & King -> AWB & Martial & Pukki -8 (likely to give me 0.6 better team value)

I will do C unless anyone can convince me getting rid of Robbo is madness?

I think Poch realised how bad his team is without Eriksen after around 60 mins of GW1.

        1. Alan Watts
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 7 months ago

Why bench him in first place? Looks like move to Real could happen, so chance of another Eriksen benching against poorer opposition...he started vs City obv needed full strength side...

It was a clear power play from Poch & Levy, same with Verthonghan, they have a few players entering their final year and they probably want them to commit rather than walk for free.

I don't see anyone paying for them now when they can get them for free next Summer, Spurs have no choice other than using them or their team is massively weaker.

            1. Alan Watts
              • 5 Years
              4 years, 7 months ago

hmm dunno about that...sounds like Eriksen wants away, they wouldn't want an injury to blow the deal, or as you say he could leave for free in Summer, hasn't he refused to sign new contract?

He wants away but no one seems to want to pay Levy prices when they know they can have him for free next Summer.

So its cut your nose of to spite your face time, they tried that in GW1.

United had something like 2 shots on target yesterday, isn't everyone getting carried away with the thought of Martial rather than Martial?

Martial himself only had one shot. Not saying he's a bad option, he's most definitely a good one, but De Bruyne who looks unstoppable at the moment is more of a priority in my opinion.

Martial has had no bonus points either. He goes missing and pops up for a goal. Ole is missing the trick playing Rashford to lead their line.

KDB for me. Haven’t watched either yet but looking at stats and from
what I’ve read, now’s the time for city assets. Amazing fixtures and you know they’ll score lots. United sound like they’ve started good but I don’t trust them yet, how many times over the last couple of years have they looked great for a bit and then looked poor... and it doesn’t sound like they’ve looked that exciting going forward yet this season. Both good picks though. I’d have both if I could. KDB a priority imo though, city could score 5 in all of their next few and KDB stats wise looks huge

Considering getting Maguire in over AWB. Similar baseline bonus potential on the face of things and I think he will get more through goals and the odd assist (heading it back into the danger zone) than AWB across the season. Fair punt or early madness?

No, I get your logic. Just if AWB starts clicking down the right and bagging assists and bonus for his brutish tackling you might be glum. A Man U defender will do you well though.

True, and he probably will get more assists than Maguire will do goals. Double the points for each goal vs each assist though. I’ll go with my heart on this occasion. Who knows - maybe later on in the season I will end up with both. Now I really am thinking with my heart

Robbo to AWB and then Perez to Martial should be fine? Take the -4 and shift Jimenez if not?

    In gw3, should I start:
    Lundstram vs Leicester (Home),
    Dendoncker vs Burnley (Home),
    Wilson Vs Man City (Home).
Currently on Lundstram but it hurts seeing Wilson on the bench.
    Advice?

I can’t understand how Liverpool have a DS that high, yet the margin in the bookies odds is much much smaller with Spurs, City and United all lower priced favourites. Makes no sense

Is losing Robertson to AWB/Shaw at this stage madness or is it worth it to do Robinson to Martial?

    I caved and WC.

    RMT

    Adrian, Pope
    Robbo, Zinch, Montoya, Kiko, Lunds
    Salah, Sterling, KdB, Martial, Ceballos

    Pukki, Jimenez or Kean, Greenwood

I’d downgrade Ceballos to a 4.5 and upgrade Kiko.

Ceballos has the potential to be the creative hub of one of the most attacking sides. Could be the bargain of the season.

Kiko and Montoya rotation looks good until GW20. Watford will get their act together I figure.

That's my thinking But I see the logic.
