How to handle FPL bandwagons in early Gameweeks

The latest episode of the Scoutcast is about to start on our YouTube channel.

You can watch the show from 8pm to 9pm BST.

This week, Joe is joined by Az and David to discuss the key Fantasy Premier League talking points ahead of Gameweek 3.

The next round of action is an important one for Fantasy managers as many will be wielding their two free transfers.

Already bandwagons have begun to form, so our Scoutcasters will be discussing how best to approach these.

Naturally, Teemu Pukki (£6.7m) is a prime example after he scored a hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

However, we will also be examining Liverpool assets after a lacklustre start to the season at both ends of the pitch.

    A) Lanzini
    B) Mount
    C) Trossard
    D) just hold and wait

good question - i just moved Mili to Lanzini and now looking whether to move Perez too
depends if you're doing it purely to avoid price drop or because you don't think he will score well over coming weeks?

Just think the whole Leicester attack system is all wrong. Maddison and Perez on the wing, you hey didn’t do much better, Tielemans on the middle only knows shot and didn’t give Vardy much support. I think they need start one of Barnes and Albrighton to get more space on the wing. So Perez could be the one to sacrifice.

Perez has had two tough games, will have two easier games coming up. I'd hold and review for two weeks.

If you had to trade I would choose The Great Lanzini of the three

Great Question- totally unknown answer but...

      A) lanzini has good fixtures but players for a bad team
      B) mount great schedule and talent but his forwards are bad
      C) Trossard good player but it’s Brighton, anything can happen
      D) Ceballos good player with awesome forwards but plays for a clown tinkering coach
      E) cantwell plays behind the Pukkimonster but it’s bandwagon thinking, maybe
      F) Leicester Barnes - he thrived in the role that Perez can’t handle- Leicester coach must recall how they used to score goals
      G) hold Perez for Southampton- he has to produce or he gets benched

Thank you muchly for the replies on previous page guys regarding team options.
However, just for the hell of it, i have made a 4-5-1 with Kane or Auba, just for curiosity, decent?

    Pope
    AWB - 4.5m - 6.0m - Dunk
Mane -Sterling - KDB - Martial - Mount
    Kane

Solid WC team. Looking at fixture ticker, you need a Man City defender and possibly a Chelsea or West Ham defender. I'd go Zinchenko and Christensen.

Cheers Jeanz, reckon it's worth swallowing my pride and including Kane? (Even though i'm very hesitant about him)
          Christensen is a great shout.

I have Kane and it's mainly around flexibility to be honest. If you don't have a premium striker it's hard to bring one in without having to dismantle your team. Kane has a pretty good run to Christmas.

I envy the amount of posts you got. I'm struggling and have asked several times but replies have been poor haha. Guess that's what 8 years graft on here achieves.

Jesus that is v segzi. Stick with the 5.5m over Mount in ceballos or Mcginn but defence would be solid and don't need to say anything about the rest.

I'd be tempted by Lowton and then maybe Pope to Adrian. 6.0m obvs Digne if fit but if not then not too sure. Maybe walker but cancelo a problem

    5. Francescoli

You could do Mount down to Dendoncker. Greenwood to Pukki. And bring in Zinchenko and Pieters. Then I'd do Pope to Ryan so you're not doubled on Burnley defenders.

Oooo yes i like this! Or just go above dendoncker like Sparkes says and do Ceballos as the 5th mid.

Palace and Brighton dovetail quite neatly. I still see Palace defence as being a decent medium term call and you won't want to be switching 4.5s.

Ward? As many cs as any other completely nailed 4.5 imo especially when first choice Cbs are back

I was at the game on Sunday and read the Palace forum after. Van aanholt got bullied, they have no rb now AWB has gone. Ward and Kelly are shocking, cahill won't change anything.

Dont like it, too much invested in midfield imo. There will be value in the 7.0 and under forwards yet I feel. Also hate the idea of playing 2 x 4.5 defs but GL mate.

      1. Salah’s Sonnet

Cheers Jia, well i've come around to the though of downgrading Mount if i were to go with this team, which should certainly bolster the defence. As for forwards i'm happy to be proved right in that Bracket, but currently i feel the mids a lot more with a premium forward if i'm to go this route.

      2. Salah’s Sonnet
        • 12 Years

if you were to go with this side but downgrade mount to a 4.5, who would be your defence of choice in THAT team? 🙂

        1. jia you
          • 7 Years

Im very happy to hold my current defence: Robbo, Digne, AWB. Mina could be a viable one to save a mill though. Chelsea defence still a wait and see for me, Ederson is the only city defence I like long term tbh but going without is a little risky...going without both LIV and City defence is still a no for me at this early stage.

            • 12 Years
            4 years, 8 months ago

yeah totally respect that, and i agree about the defence, it's slowly morphing though, so from above by Jeanz's mention, a team of thos could be afforded 🙂

            Ryan Button
            AWB Dunk Zinchenko Pieters Lundstram
            Sterling Mane KDB Martial Dendoncker
            Kane Pukki Wickham

              • 7 Years
              4 years, 8 months ago

Much better plus you have Pukki now over a second 4.5 forward which could be huge imo...still think three of Kane, Sterling, Mane, KDB is enough but GL with her 🙂

Yeah I like the look of this team. You could do Dendoncker to Cantwell and the more I think about it, you should have Pope instead of Ryan. Burnley have a much better fixture run than Brighton so I'd prefer a double up on Burnley than a double up on Ryan.

Both boring and perfectly suitable options imo. Lowton could be a good shout.

Between gw3 and gw13, Burnley only have two difficult fixtures (Liverpool in gw4 and Chelsea in gw10).

cool, certainly bowls well for them only having those two tricky fixtures.
The ONLY shame about this team is no pool defence, unless i went Adrian in goal, and no everton defence, other than that i love it! 🙂

Maybe. I wanted Pukki and Cantwell before the season started but figured I would let Norwich settle in, I think the Liverpool opener put me off.

I don't particularly like Martial as a player, but he looks incredible value now he has number 9 nailed, Man U defence looks much improved and i fear a complete lack of united players will hurt my rank every week.

Then again, Jota, Perez and King could come through for me.
