How good are Pukki’s upcoming fixtures after hat-trick heroics?

Teemu Pukki (£6.8m) has already taken FPL by storm, scoring four goals in his first two Premier League matches.

Fantasy managers are flocking to sign the Norwich forward, with a third price rise of the season occurring overnight.

The hat-trick scored against Newcastle in Gameweek 2 sent the demand for Pukki into overdrive, but his new owners were clearly also impressed with his ability to score even at Anfield in Gameweek 1.

However, there are still some who are a little concerned about Norwich’s upcoming fixtures.

So we’ve analysed the numbers recorded so far this season to test whether or not Pukki is a sensible signing for Gameweek 3.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

Have Pukki’s underlying statistics been good?

Lessons learned from Gameweek 2

Think I’m going with Kane for the armband. 2 reasons:

    1. Newcastle have conceded more shots in the box that Bou

    2. Genuinely think Bournemouth are the better outfit this year

Bournemouth can surprise. Newcastle at home could easily be the (c) choice week in week out.

Look at xGa and Bournemouth is worse.

Bournemouth have played villa and sheffield.

Newcastle have played arsenal and norwich (slightly harder)

Stats are all well and good I'd say we also need to look at the results and what's going on a the clubs too. Harry Wilson very very good player in (better than Brooks for sure) and Wilson and King both fit, for example. Vs. club in turmoil, losing players, supporters protests, temporary disaster style manager... Newcastle or Bournemouth, over the season, for attacking results? I know where I'd put my money.

Yeah bournemouth might score, but they are going to concede a hat full .

Look how much better City were than Spurs last week - id much rather have one of those players as my captain.

Kane was poor vs Villa imo - got 1 lucky goal and 1 decent one. If he hadnt scored those - i dont think people would be looking at him at all

Dunno. City away to BOU or Spuds at home to Newcastle. I'd say it could easily finish with a cricket score at WHL. I've not got Kane so the decision is made for me - but I'd pick him if I had him.

I think both could do well, but Sterling's stats are better than Kane's over the last two, he's playing in a stronger team... extra point for a goal, clean sheets etc, and their win at Bournemouth last season is still fresh in the mind. 82% possession, Bournemouth didn't have a shot! It only ended up 1-0 but a more clinical City would have scored more.

    Any update on Digne?

I can do Wilson > Rashford and play Digne - Robbo - TAA

I can do Wilson & Digne > Kane & Kelly and play Lundstrum - Robbo - TAA

Thoughts on this WC team? Trying to fit in Mane but basically impossible unless I ditch Martial.

    Pope
    Digne AWB Zinchenko
    Sterling KdB Martial Mount Cantwell
    Kane Pukki

    Ryan Lundstram Montoya Wickham

I fitted Mané into that line up by doing Digne, Mount, Montoya, Wickham, Ryan -> Soy, Mané, Dunk, Greenwood, Pope.

Not sure whether you're asking for options to fit Mane in or not, but Cantwell to Son, Mount to Mane and Kane to Greenwood would do the trick. I think going without pool attack altogether is a risk too far when on a WC.

In 8 years, this is my first thread post (what does that even mean?)

I have a burning question guys.

    A
    3-5-2
    Pope. Button
    Digne. AWB. Montoya. (Lund. Kelly)
    Mane. Sterling. KBD. Martial. Son
    Pukki. Jota. (Greenwood)
    0 itb
    or

    B
    4-4-2
    Pope. Button
    Digne. AWB. Montoya. Lund. (Kelly)
    Mane. Sterling. KBD. Martial. (Dendocker).
    Pukki. Kane. (Greenwood)
    .4 itb

Kane seems a no brainer, but starting Lund every game makes me twitch. The Son differential may work out ... or not

    Help me out please?

    1. Tsparkes10
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

I'm having the same problem. Son would be my choice if he was guarenteed to start but I'm not sure he is. For some reason Ive never liked Kane on here. I'd be tempted to go A in your sake as you have fine cover if Kane does fire. And can simply downgrade Son if not firing and upgrade Jota to a premium attacker

    2. KingOllie
      • 8 Years

    3. pingissimus

Not sure about either set up in truth both look unbalanced going forward. 16 weeks till next major reset.

A feels slightly better but going that way I'd lose Jota and go 4-5-1. That would leave you just a double transfer away from a balanced set up moving a mid into the forward line.

Much better imo than what you're looking at. As it stands you'd need a transfer to get a decent defender and another to get a non 6.5 attacker.

You worry about Lund - that's a no no as far as Im concerned as a starter each week. I think Brighton defence too may turn out to be a week 2 call. They were horrid last time out and Potter doesn't really have credentials for producing css.

It's funny how straightforward the confidence in Pukki has grown over the past couple of days. Imagine if he blanks in the next three, which can happen. People are signing him like it's Messi, and are completely forgetting other good options like Jota, Abraham, Kean, Haller, Jimenez...
Especially Abraham, who will play Norwich and Shefield in his next two games. Couldn't be better fixtures for him to open his scoring account.

      1. Tshelby
        • 9 Years

At 21 years of age, and as Chelesa academy product, in a year of no transfers for them, yes I think he'll be the first choice.
I just say, if you got him before anyone else, you can be in advantage. And it seems like the best time for gamble with him is now with these upcoming fixtures.

Much rather Pukki than Abraham. Pukki gets one chance then he'll score, Abraham might get 3 and then still not score. Pukki is a finisher and honestly believe he's fixture proof, but I'm waiting atm

        1. DIMITRIS
          • 5 Years

We shall see. I like Pukki TBH, but if I'd had to make a transfer, I'd take a gamble with Abraham.

      3. Ambrosiana Inter
        • 6 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

Yeah Abraham, yeah will play 60 mins and then taken off,Kean hasn’t yet started,Haller is an injury doubt, the on,y good ones are Jota and Jimmy who travel to Turin on Thursday...
I haven’t got Pukki but the hype is real

        1. DIMITRIS
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 7 months ago

Maybe he'll get more, and if Pukki with 29 goals in Championship can reproduce the same in PL why can't Abraham who scored 25 last year do the same, and he's playing in much better side.
I'm just saying that this much confidence in Pukki can backfire, plus he's fixtures are really bad.

One caveat. If you look deeper, he got a little bit lucky. But - he is a good corner taker, so ...

The problem is, through balls are more effective, and efficient than crosses, unless your name is David Beckham.

WCing because one player is a doubt. Sounds a good move to me.

U ll be fine, main reason to wildcard also is catch price rises, too many have gone by already this week.hold

See many wildcarding out Salah, I didn’t expect to see many wildcards at all last week let alone getting rid of salah... game moving fast

Came down to Salah and some dross up top or KDB and Firmino on my W/C.
        Opted for the latter.
Obviously not happy about getting rid of Salah, but he’s easy enough to get back in should I wish...

        A) Digne VVD Cantwell
        B) Coleman Walker Ceballos

Looking long term on a WC. Have Pukki and TAA but no M City defence. Will look to bring in Cancelos once he a starter as will operate like Mendy on opposite flank.
