Key Liverpool defenders start as Lacazette benched for Arsenal

All eyes will be on Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Sadio Mané (£11.5m) as Liverpool take on Arsenal this evening.

The Egyptian has been largely ditched by those playing their Wildcards for Gameweek 3, Mané seeming to be the most popular replacement for him.

With the Gunners defence somewhat questionable away from home since Unai Emery took over, both players are likely to have plenty of chances.

The success of those who Wildcarded Salah out could very well come down to fine margins at Anfield this evening.

Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) may also be on the fringes of the Fantasy radar with more shots in the box than any Liverpool attacking player so far this season and an impressive record against Arsenal.

Despite some poor performances at the back for Jurgen Klopp’s men so far this season, all the key defenders have kept their places.

Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m) are deployed at full-back while Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) is paired with Joel Matip (£5.4m).

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Emery looks to have matched Liverpool’s 4-3-3 with an identical formation of his own.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) leads the line for the Gunners while Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) drops to the bench.

On the flanks of the front-three are Dani Ceballos (£5.6m), who performed well against Burnley, and Nicolas Pépé (£9.4m) who comes in for his first start in an Arsenal shirt.

Sead Kolasinac (£5.4m) still awaits his first start of the season, named on the bench as Nacho Monreal (£5.0m) is selected at left-back.

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Adrian; Robertson, van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho; Mané, Firmino, Salah.

Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Leno; Monreal, D Luiz, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles; Xhaka, Guendouzi, Willock; Pépé, Aubameyang, Ceballos.

I thought he played pretty well. United's defensive issues all happened in the space between AWB and Lindelhof

This...Zaha was able to drag AWB out of position and other plays exploited Lindelof in space. Maguire had nothing do with any of it.

The likes of Ayew, Schlupp, PVA came into the channel to exploit Lindelof

Just a small comment on Ryan, I think Brighton’s new possession based style has drastically reduced the opponent’s long shots. He may get a clean sheet every now and then, but he’s no longer that 4.5 goalie with save points

Yep exactly my thoughts. It also seems to suit him better as he likes to step out and sweep up as well as play out from the back.

Arsenal B team doesn't look too bad

    A.
    Leno
    Bellerin Sokratis Luiz Tierney
    Torreira Ceballos Guendouzi
    Pepe Lacazette Aubameyang

    B.
    Martinez
    Maitland-Niles Holding Mavropanos Monreal
    Chambers Willock
    Mkhitaryan Ozil Nelson
    Martinelli

    Notable absentees: Xhaka, Kolasinac, Saka
Available next season: Saliba, Smith Rowe, Nketiah
    Unavailable next season: Ceballos? Monreal?

On the up? Only just about staying in touch? Or slipping down the slippery slope?

Mate I would much prefer him not to be in the A or B team. But look, he has been brought straight back into the team at Anfield with the likes of Torreira and Lacazette on the bench. Emery clearly likes playing him.

Martinez: Looks like genuine competition for Leno
Maitland-Niles: Holding his own, playing regularly in first team
Holding: Was in great form in first XI before injury
Mavropanos: Hard to judge but promising
Monreal: PL quality. Will still be useful this year despite age
Chambers: Player of the season for Fulham
Willock: One of the top performers in pre-season and since
Mkhitaryan: QUility player, but not working out for him at the moment. Still been better for Arsenal than Sanchez for United
        Ozil: World class
        Nelson: 75% Jadon Sancho
Martinelli: Wonderkid. Could be a special guy for Arsenal

        Can't say I agree 😀
But even so, these are the benchables anyway 😉
