Captain Poll

Manchester City assets set to compete for Gameweek 4 captaincy

Manchester City assets are expected to compete amongst each other for the Gameweek 4 captaincy in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola’s men host Brighton on Saturday afternoon, one of the most appealing fixtures for premium Fantasy assets.

The Seagulls have looked a little fragile at the back in their last two outings, against West Ham and Southampton, and conceded four times the last time they faced Manchester City, admittedly under a different manager.

However, the reigning champions are in scintillating attacking form, with Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) proving a reliable source of points in the first three Gameweeks.

In that time, he is joint-top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, his five strikes level with Norwich forward Teemu Pukki (£6.9m).

However, those in possession of Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) will almost certainly be considerin the forward after he finished as the top-scoring player from Manchester City’s recent win over Bournemouth.

The Argentinian played 90 minutes for the first time this season at the Vitality Stadium, which coincided with Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) being ruled out with a hamstring problem.

That should keep the Brazilian out until after the international break, so Aguero’s route into the team against Brighton is unrivalled, and his chances of minute-management by Guardiola will be reduced too.

Also looking like a viable candidate is Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), who recorded his fourth assist of the campaign against Bournemouth.

While he is not quite as explosive as his colleagues further forward, the Belgian midfielder has a history of being a reliable source of points when he is a regular in the team.

Many of the other premium options face tougher tasks in Gameweek 4, although that’s not to suggest there won’t be attacking returns on offer.

Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend, to face a Clarets defence that has got back to its best under Sean Dyche this season.

However, the Reds have scored an average of three goals per game in 2019/20, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) involved in four of them so far.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mané (£11.5m) was the key man against Southampton, while Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) has been a constant threat for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Spurs go head-to-head in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Following a blank against Newcastle, interest in Harry Kane (£11.1m) may be low, but he does have a good record against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has attacking returns in each Gameweek so far this season.

Alternatively, Pukki might garner some support for Gameweek 4 after an excellent start to the season.

With five goals in three matches, a match-up with the West Ham defence could reap rewards for the Norwich man.

You can vote in our latest poll below, or in the sidebar of our website.

Also, Joe and David will be discussing the Gameweek 4 captaincy in a live video on our YouTube channel at 12:30pm on Tuesday lunch-time.

    Kane owners are so lucky, easy switch to Kun (c) this week. Basically they’re being rewarded for picking an expensive CDM on wildcard

            Yeah but they’re essentially being rewarded for their kneejerk choices on WC. They were calling Kane a season keeper last week and all of a sudden they want rid after one GW

              It isn't really lucky. The game has transfers every week so they are more than entitled to change from Kane to Kun. You just sound bitter.

      Kane sellers could well be punished against that Arsenal defence. Kun is a one-week transfer before the rotation kicks back in. I thought about it and rejected it. Got Pukki instead for King - well before I wanted him - but the price rises are too much to take!

        Don’t know about rotation. Last season he was also the first choice striker. He just didn’t play the first game because of the copa America

          So much hinges on Eriksen staying and enjoying his football - or not. Without him, Spuds lack creativity and Kane, starved of service, comes too deep looking for the ball. At this point, we can't know if Spuds are going to sharpen up, to Kane's benefit, or not. There's a major zone of uncertainty at the moment although I wouldn't put it down to the "luck" you are implying.

            I understand the Eriksen factor and Spurs not looking right. But Arsenal’s defence still looks leaky as and Kane does love a derby.

      I’m keeping Kane. Aguero could be golden over the next three weeks for sure but I have Sterling and KDB in my team so I’m happy enough. Kane needs Eriksen. I hope he stays.

              Gabriel Jesus has suffered a hamstring injury in training and will miss today's game at Bournemouth.

              The Brazil striker, who has looked sharp since returning from his summer break, will be back to full fitness after the international break.

              Everyone at City wishes Gabriel a speedy recovery.

        That's the thing - I too see goals galore. And if Norwich score, Pukki is most likely to be involved. Other option for me is Sterling but think there are too many good players in City and Sterling's point could get split. On the positive though, he gets an additional point for a goal plus another for a cleanie. Tough choice this week!

    Should we Triple Captain Sterling against Brighton (H) GW5 or Watford (H) in GW6?

    In both case: City at home

    Brighton case: Unpromising defence, Sterling in top form
    Watford case: Watford at bottom of the table, great h2h record for ManCity. However GW6 is right after the mid-week 1st round of UCL matches and Sterling's form at that point is unknown.

      What to do this week guys?
      Jota is a major concern obviously.

      1) Jota-> Haller
      2) Jota-> Abraham
      3) Jota-> Barnes
      4) Perez-> Mount
      5) Perez robbo-> kdb 4.5def for -4

      Heaton (pope)
      Robbo vvd kwp digne (lundstram)
      Salah sterling martial perez (dendo)
      Pukky jota (greenwood)

      Does it make sense taking a -4 to take out Kane and bring in Aguero ?

          @miguel I don’t think I’ll captain him, rather go for sterling

        Will Kun score 4 or more points more than Harry? Probably.

      Hi guys.

      Your opinions would be much appreciated.

      I came into this season wanting to play more patiently.
      Last week I did 3 transfers for a -4.
      I feel like I could do another -4 this week and have my team set up the way I want it ( Jota & Moura >>> Pukki & mount. )
      This will leave me with £2 in the bank and a solid team going forward.

      Is it too aggressive taking 2 hits in a row or is it worth going for some early aggression and keeping my wildcard intact? Could also just do Jota to Pukki and leave the 2nd transfer.

      Thanks

      How’s my wildcard looking

      Ryan
      TAA Laporte Digne Lund Kelly
      Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell
      Haller Pukki Greenwood

      Did a
      Ederson > Ryan
      Robertson > Kelly
      Maddison > KDB
      Perez > Mount
      Dendocka > Cantwell
      Adams > Haller

        Only player I would want in on WC would be Smashleigh Barnes

            Fair enough :p
            Looks pretty solid otherwise. Haller could be a good punt

        Good switches. Losing Robbo is acceptable because you have the other Pool Fb.

      Morning all,

      Is it worth doing the following for a -12 hit? Really don't want to use my WC this early.

      Already used my FT to do King to Pukki.

      Siggy,Perez,Kane to Sterling,Lanzini,Barnes. (Lanzini could be Mount if he's declared fit)

      Thanks.

          -12 seems a bit much to bring in Barnes vs Liverpool

            I see what you're saying, I'm hoping he would justify it against Liverpool defence, then he's got that great run of fixtures.

            I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

            Thanks for the reply 🙂

        Zinch VVD Robbo Coleman
        Cantwell KDB Sterling Salah
        Haller Pukki

        Next week I’ll look at some sexy rotation for Cantwell

            Haller for the next 2 (NOR, Villa), then replace him with Barnes (NOR, villa ..)
