Captain Poll

Manchester City assets set to compete for Gameweek 4 captaincy

Manchester City assets are expected to compete amongst each other for the Gameweek 4 captaincy in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola’s men host Brighton on Saturday afternoon, one of the most appealing fixtures for premium Fantasy assets.

The Seagulls have looked a little fragile at the back in their last two outings, against West Ham and Southampton, and conceded four times the last time they faced Manchester City, admittedly under a different manager.

However, the reigning champions are in scintillating attacking form, with Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) proving a reliable source of points in the first three Gameweeks.

In that time, he is joint-top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, his five strikes level with Norwich forward Teemu Pukki (£6.9m).

However, those in possession of Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) will almost certainly be considerin the forward after he finished as the top-scoring player from Manchester City’s recent win over Bournemouth.

The Argentinian played 90 minutes for the first time this season at the Vitality Stadium, which coincided with Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) being ruled out with a hamstring problem.

That should keep the Brazilian out until after the international break, so Aguero’s route into the team against Brighton is unrivalled, and his chances of minute-management by Guardiola will be reduced too.

Also looking like a viable candidate is Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), who recorded his fourth assist of the campaign against Bournemouth.

While he is not quite as explosive as his colleagues further forward, the Belgian midfielder has a history of being a reliable source of points when he is a regular in the team.

Many of the other premium options face tougher tasks in Gameweek 4, although that’s not to suggest there won’t be attacking returns on offer.

Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend, to face a Clarets defence that has got back to its best under Sean Dyche this season.

However, the Reds have scored an average of three goals per game in 2019/20, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) involved in four of them so far.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mané (£11.5m) was the key man against Southampton, while Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) has been a constant threat for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Spurs go head-to-head in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Following a blank against Newcastle, interest in Harry Kane (£11.1m) may be low, but he does have a good record against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has attacking returns in each Gameweek so far this season.

Alternatively, Pukki might garner some support for Gameweek 4 after an excellent start to the season.

With five goals in three matches, a match-up with the West Ham defence could reap rewards for the Norwich man.

You can vote in our latest poll below, or in the sidebar of our website.

Also, Joe and David will be discussing the Gameweek 4 captaincy in a live video on our YouTube channel at 12:30pm on Tuesday lunch-time.

which defence/attack combo from these? think I've got away with my cheap defence so far and it's time for a change, but C is still tempting me...

    A) VVD Kelly *HANLEY* (Lundstram Montoya)
    *KANE* Wilson Pukki

    B) VVD Kelly *TAA* (Lundstram Montoya)
    *HALLER* Wilson Pukki

    C) *MATIP* Kelly Hanley (Lundstram Montoya)

Arsenal have a joke defence and won't park the bus. Should be a good fixture for him. I'd stick and regroup over the Int Break.

you're probably right to be honest, I mainly want rid because premium strikers are a bit turd generally (as in, midfielder versions are better) but then I'm still being lured in by Aguero haha - I think B makes the most sense but we'll see, I just think my turd defence can last two more weeks as it is - Lund (SOU) & Montoya (BUR) next week

And zinc could be a rotation risk in a couple GWs time

When city pool start getting CS’s regularly, and I think it’s only a matter of time, then you’ll want that cash at the back

It’s early days so we haven’t seen the big scores but CS + assist + bonus points is rank changing

    2. Andy_Social
      • 11 Years

Yes, I've been saying that Liverpool's leaky defence won't last long, and once you've got rid of premium defensive assets, it will be very hard to get them back in.

    3. Spab

It's because there have only been 5 clean sheets in 2 game weeks. It will turn before long and then my triple Liverpool defence will catapult me to mediocrity.

Sitting pretty at 3k OR and having used WC to mainly play catch up in seasons past, using it now is a bit awkward..

    Current Team:
    Pope
    Digne TAA Stones Lundy Hanley
    Sterling Salah KDB Martial Ceballos
    Pukki King Greenwood
    0.4 ITB 1FT

    WC team:
    Pope
    TAA Soyuncu Guilbert Lundy Digne
    Sterling Salah KDB Mount Cantwell
    Pukki Barnes Haller

Plan was to WC after GW4 but any price rises would price me out, which looks almost definite. Unless I do Haller to Kean meaning WC for GW5 and something to do amidst IB boredom.. thoughts?

Think you can beat the scout picks? Prove it!

Gameweek 4 is on it's way but we need a Community Champion to represent us against the Scouts!

Last week FPL Mike The Knight commendably beat the scout picks 46-44 but not quite by a large enough margin to put himself in first place. Well done to him for winning!

The Community Champion picks a team to go up against the Scout Picks, within a budget of 83m and in a playable FPL formation. Whichever Gameweek champion beats the Scout’s team by the largest margin will win a £100 Amazon Voucher!

If you're interested in applying, email Geoff (geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk) with your FFS username and FPL Team ID.

The Champion will be picked Thursday midday, so make sure to enter by then! The Champion then has until 11am Friday morning to send in their team.

      Good luck!

Struggling with this on a WC,

      A. Aguero, Douglas Luiz, Emerson/5.5 def
      B. Haller, KDB, Soyuncu

Cantwell comes on instead of Luiz in option A.
