The best West Ham players for their appealing fixtures

West Ham players are now on the Fantasy Premier League radar after their 3-1 win over Watford.

The Hammers have also have a favourable streak of fixtures coming up to further interest in their assets.

Norwich come to the London Stadium in Gameweek 4 having conceded eight goals in their first three matches of the season.

After that, West Ham travel to newly-promoted Aston Villa, who have just one clean sheet in 2019/20 thus far, which came against a goal-shy Everton side last Friday.

Manchester United and Crystal Palace are the next two sides to travel to East London (in Gameweeks 6 and 8 respectively), before Manuel Pellegrini’s men travel to Bournemouth and Everton.

However, Fantasy managers will still have to ensure they choose the right West Ham player to capitalise on the form and fixtures.

We have gone over the numbers from their first three matches of 2019/20 to work out who that might be.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the new campaign can access it in full.

Do you think Haller worth the extra investment over Barnes?

Nope. I think it's both in a 3-4-3 with Pukki, or Barnes and Pukki in a 3-5-2, or a premium forward with Pukki

I personally prefer 1 big hitter up front like Auba/Kane/Aguero. Having 3 cheaper strikers makes it difficult to convert to one of the 3 big guys if they start going on a mental run

I've seen this exact draft three times.

What's scary is that I have 10 of the 15 already and considering adding Mount in to make it 11/15.

Any moves worth it with 1FT and 0.1itb? I'm honed in on dropping Wood, but is that worth a transfer?

could shift Wood round to Mount for a -4. Think 3-5-2 could be better this season with Wilson Mount Trossard James and a few 6.5s showing more promise than 6.5 and under strikers so far.

Personally im looking at ditching Jimenez this GW if Wolves progress this Thursday, think the EL will affect them too much this season, so you could shift him to Haller/Barnes. Then Wood out the following week

It appears that the most important debate on tap is whether you're packing De Bruyne or a premium striker. I'd rather be flipping between Aguero/Aubameyang/Kane and captaining them every so often than sitting on an immovable 9.7 De Bruyne, but that's just me.

    1. EMBOLOFAN

This. Martial has been taking up that last slot in my team that could be KDB, and I'm not too worried. Martial out for 2+ GWs means Pepe for me, weirdly enough

    2. F4L
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

well that's were skill comes in, or some might think luck. You have to time the purple patches of premium assets to do well, and if you want to chop and change, there's the opportunity cost of being able to use FTs on your budget attackers (whom can be much more streaky). Id rather just go with sticking with KDB for the season and banking his 200 or so points

    3. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

So you'll steadily cap a premium striker over Salah and Sterling in FPL 19/20?

and my point is that he's outscored Auba and Kane for 1.5m less - who gives a shite if you captain him. Not having those two means you would captain Salah and Sterling instead, which on reflection is just better.

That's not entirely fair though if he wasn't starting.

In fact, the two of them don't even look that different!

                KdB 18/19 - 11(8) apps 2 goals 2 assists
                Cantwell 18/19 - 18(6) apps 1 goal 2 assists

Obviously KdB has pedigree and is great. But Cantwell had pretty curtailed minutes and as a 21yo, rarely lasted the 90mins.

And if we go by these first 3 games, well, it's pretty clear that Cantwell is an incredible FPL asset at sub 5.0m and is expected to do even better.

What I'm saying is, discounting Cantwell because he only had 1 goal and 2 assists last year doesn't tell the full story. I don't think he's a bad option as a 4th mid.

to my knowledge, no. he might have improved dramatically over the summer but seems more likely that hes overperforming, or a bit of both

all these folks selling martial must think he's out for more than one game? he looks like absurdly good value this season, and you'd have to be extremely confident about your side's prospects to use 2 ft's to plan to ship him out then back in again (plus there's an international break after the next gw)

afraid i'd have to disagree. look at his points per 90 last season and compare to other mids in that price range. note also that his scoring odds most weeks aren't far off of the big guns and he's playing as the main striker for a top 6 side. For a 7.5 mid...

If he was out for more than one game I reckon it would have leaked that his injury is a bit more serious. I'm keeping.

Not looked happy to me, guess he’d rather be cutting in and shooting instead of doing the donkey work up front. Not enough shots, not enough baps, possible injury and price drop to boot

    Long term:
    A) Martial + Mount
    B) Pepe + Cantwell

In a midfield with Salah, Sterrling, KdB. 3-5-2?

I respect price points a lot. It's definitely more logical to go A. But watching Pepe was pretty eye-opening for me vs Liverpool. That guy can play and he will score.

He had the 2nd highest xG of any player in that game behind only Salah.

      B) is very risky. Pepe might take a few GW's to settle in.
      A) for now is very risk averse and mainstream

He's had those weeks. That was GW 1 and 2. He just started against Liverpool over Lacazette and looked very good. Mainstream is fine but there's potential there to mine.

Agreed, passed the eye test. Should have scored but losed his composure. Still would wan't to wait until he scores his first goal though. And Europa league soon and Emery will rotate like last year.
In my opinion I don't believe many have the patience to wait for Pepe to explode (which I agree he will) but a couple of blanks will make you lose patience given his price tag.

In regards of C. Wilson what are people doing? Averaging 5 points per game without any sort of form, bit tough to take a second drop on the chin. No other pressing matters but would like to save transfer and have more options during IB.
Take another drop or any obvious replacements bar Pukki?
