Been waiting all week for ceballos to rise so I can swap him for mount on my WC. And now that he has finally risen here I am thinking I got a ceballos at a bargain 5.5 price and how I should keep him else il regret losing him in a few weeks. Lol

It’s the same for me. I needed the rise to bring Salah back in (and Auba to Barnes)...Think I would miss both players, but no Salah scares me

Wc is difficult sometimes, but one have to just stick to ones decisions. Contemplating between Sterling, Kun, Lanzini, Haller, and ended up with Kun and Lanzini. Party because i would have needed 1m from somewhere else, which realistically would have been Salah to Mané or 5.5 def to 4.5.
While i see the cons and pros for both alternatives i think leaving Kun as a 12m striker gives me a plan to go to Auba, Arsenal have tremendously good fixtures soon, and that 1m downgrade also gives me the possibility to get a mid in 7.5 bracket (Martial, Siggy etc).

    A little desperate, please excuse a re-post-

Martial made me tip to the WC, bit of a rushed attempt-

    Pope/ 4.0
    VVD/ Digne/ Lund/ Kelly/ Emerson
    Salah/ Sterling/ KDB/ Ceballos/ Cantwell
    Barnes/ Pukki/ Abrahm

    0.3 ITB

Lund and Kelly to 4.0 and 4.5?
    Emerson?
    Any other thought?

    Thanks for any input

I prefer Zinchenko to Emerson still, while he’s playing. Trust city more and Zinchenko been creating chances too.

Tough one re defenders. Lundstram kelly should be ok, but maybe Rico over kelly?

Thanks. The Emerson/ Zinch and Kelly/ Rico are exactly what Im pondering. Think im trying to be 'clever' with Emerson and see something that might not actally be there!

      Hey JN
I'd rather see Emerson become Laporte by downgrading somewhere else, probably by having Cantwell as a 4th defender and Ceballos to a 4.5, or Abraham downgrade?

When trying to afford Siggy to KDB (likely) next week, it really comes down to:

    A) Barnes 6.0max defender
    B) Haller 5.2max defender

For that reason, leaning more towards Barnes in now this week despite immediate fixture compared to Haller’s.

I’m unlikely to WC during IB so one week punt on Haller would be daft eh

Cheers. So tough to go with Barnes(LIV) over Haller(NOR), but probably makes more sense in the long run?

Just so long as Barnes keeps scoring!

Definitely A) then. There Is Literally no @5 defender i want so it'll be a 4.5 defender vs matip/zincs/emerson/awb/Mina.. No contest

That’s what I’m thinking tbh. I have TAA VVD Digne Zinchenko Rico as my backline currently, and thinking that (reluctantly) VVD downgrade is the easiest way to free up the little bit of funds needed for Siggy to KDB next week.

While some of the 4.5s look good value like Mings, much more comfortable relying on guys in the 5.5-6 bracket instead at the mo

      Haller

WH have better attacking fixtures imo in the next 4/5. He’s also more likely to have the GI I suspect being the lone striker. Think Barnes getting everything and Wood nothing may be an outlier - fell exactly the other way in preseason after all

      1. Top Lad Dakes.
        • 7 Years

Haller does really tempt, it is true.

I feel like if he keeps kicking on and Barnes regresses significantly, I’ve always got the WC in my back pocket for some point in the future if funds need reshuffled to make the upgrade then?

The thing swinging it for me is the 0.8 price difference and what I can do with that money elsewhere, as above x

Take your point but you still have 3 premiums at the back no - think Wolves have value at 5.0 there personally.

On WC, not changed team since Sunday. Was keen on getting Digne instead of Zinchenko but have a gut feeling that Zinchenko will come good.

    Pope
    Taa Zinchenko Mings
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell
    Pukki Haller
    Button Barnes Lundstram Dunk

City asset over the upcoming fixtures trumps Digne everytime imo! EVE have no holding mid and Digne will just get the ocassional attacking return (love Digne as an asset dont get me wrong).

What’re your thoughts on Wesley as a pick?

Doesn’t fill me with nearly as much confidence as Hamer/Barnes but still early doors. If he starts banging them in could be fantastic at 6.0, but do you think that’s likely?

Heard he was good last week but crap the first 2

        1. Valar(Keith)
          • 14 Years
          4 years, 7 months ago

I'm pretty confident he ll do well over 6 weeks ie till gw 9. However the main worry with him is that if you want to transfer him out you'll need to free up cash somewhere or get Ings, Adams, joelinton . If you go with haller you can get Jiminez, Abraham, kean. Huge difference in quality and why Wesley may not be worth the risk. That being said he is benchable @6 too which allows you to play cantwell and lundstram etc incase he looks a failed punt or if he has a bad fixture without you benching too much cash.

        2. Amey
          • 5 Years

          Yeah
Wesley is an intriguing case. Can be awesome value at 6m

        3. Valar(Keith)
          • 14 Years
          4 years, 7 months ago

And why I'm confident is simple. Villa look very comfortable at this level. They looked fantastic vs spurs, bossed Bournemouth after their first 15 mins of madness(penalty and deflection) and then won 2 - 0 vs Everton. Wesley held the ball up well first 2 games but was still finding his feet. He looked the player villa bought vs Everton though. Considering he is the only striker at villa apart from kodija you can expect him to start every game and he is also on penalties. I'd put villa above Brighton, Newcastle, Watford etc and to get their main striker at 6.0 seems like real value. Pretty sure he ll be 7.0 next year once villa are no longer a "championship side" playing in the epl.

Penalties at 6.0 are a huge bonus btw. Only Norwood and noble offer penos at cheaper and you wouldn't really want them. Ritchie injured too. so arguably Wesley is the best cheapest penalty option in the game.

                  4 years, 7 months ago

Haha. Do it. I'd prefer pukki and Barnes over him. But haller who is confirmed not on penalties and as unproven as Wesley in a side that should finish in a similar position as villa seems a bit too expensive compared to him.

End of season I can see Digne and haller scoring similar.. Infact Digne could in the top 3 fpl defenders this year which means he could out score haller. And Wesley definitely outscoring mings. So there 🙂

            Great input mate thanks.

Cant bring myself to go for him quite yet over Barnes/Haller, but one to watch for me for sure. Very good “enabler” as a second/third striker at that price if he’s consistent

              • 14 Years
              4 years, 7 months ago

It may go horribly wrong but I like value.. And having watched villa last season and this I'd say they are overall there's not much difference in Quality between them and the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace, Newcastle, soton, Watford, west ham. Infact I'd say villa could end up higher than all those. And the only striker they have is Wesley. Don't expect miracles but he should get 10 to 15 goals and lap up the bonus each Time he gets one due to his amazing hold up play.

He’s right on my radar but currently blocked by McGinn - too rich a double up probs. Think the point about lone striker is key - part of the reason I went early on Haller.

Yup. He is basically villas plan A and plan B uptil January. Cheap, nailed, baps, penalties, brilliant fixtures. He is my punt.. Will bench him for cantwell/Lundstram/soyuncu for tough games too. I'd never be able to do that with a higher priced striker lol

The problem with jota is the exertion to play every Thursday night in Europe qualifiers. That will abate now. May be that? I'll allow him to recuperate and play better.

I would look at getting him in once he shows some improvement in place or Barnes, wHo I am just keeping for his momentum

I watched the Lincoln game and it finally looked like he was trying to get some attacking returns atleast. One good performance and you could make up your lost 0.2 over the IB hopefully.

    Ryan (Button)
    Laporte VVD Maguire Digne
Salah Sterling (c) KDB Perez (Dendonker)
    Jota King (greenwood)

    1FT 0.4 ITB

Stubbornly holding on to Perez and Jota and King before IB to save 2FT...too stubborn? Pukki is an issue with his ownership now, but would require a hit

Best move here? Bench is pretty thin so need to make a transfer:

    A) Martial -> Bilva*
    B) Martial -> Dilva* (King -> Pukki in GW6)
    C) Martial -> Mount (Wilson -> Laca/Firm in GW5)
    D) Martial -> Cantwell (Wilson -> Kane in GW5)

    * not the best MCY options but I can see lots of goals over the next few weeks.

    Ryan
    TAA, Digne, Coleman, Zinch
    Salah, Sterling, Perez, Martial*
    Wilson, King

    Button, Deondocker, KWP, Martinelli

    A) Duffy and Trossard to cheapo and Lanzini

    Adrian - Pope
    Robertson - Zinchenko - AMN - Soyuncu - Lundstram
    Salah - Sterling - KDB - Mount - McGinn
    Pukki - Abraham - Greenwood

    @Valar

Welsey is actually an excellent shout at 6.0m. Looks like he will play 90 mins most weeks, pens and clear focal point of the attack. His attributes are well suited to the premier league - tall, strong and quick. He is also quite technical and creative. The only reason I'm probably going to pass is that Barnes and Pukki look even better value. However, all 3 could be an option aswell.

    1. Top Lad Dakes.
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

Yeah agree on all this, and was great input by Valar as well.

I’m likely going Pukki Barnes for now as well, but should one of them start to falter (or if you want to play 3 up top!) Wesley is definitely one to watch closely

        • 14 Years

Haha. That's basically my long drawn out point below. The main plus point for me is i can bench him for the likes of lundstram, Cantwell, Soyuncu for tough fixtures or if he looks off form since he doesn't take up too much cash on the bench. Infact he is probably one of the cheapest starting forwards in the game lol. The biggest con.. And this is what really could be the death of him as an option to some.. Is that you'd need to make 2 transfers to swap him out and haller can be swapped out for jimi, kean, Tammy etc for one. That's the main concern. However with Jota, King and deul falling it looks like it's not just the soton strikers and joelinton who'll be Wesley's safety net.

        1. Nabs Kebabs
          • 12 Years
          4 years, 7 months ago

Well I did simplify it as much as possible lol. Being able to bench him is definitely a great point and since we have so many quality budget options at 4.0-4.5m it definitely makes sense to play them when we can. Regarding the exit options, it is a bit of a concern but I personally don't rate the likes of Jim, Kean and Tammy as great options anyway.

Jota, Barnes and Pukki will likely be though, maybe even Maupay if nailing down a spot!

    4. Valar(Keith)
      • 14 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

Hey Nabs. Agreed. I'd pick Barnes and pukki over him anytime and even mentioned that above. As a 3rd striker though I'd prefer him over haller.. 1.4 cheaper, on penalties, as nailed on as you can get, brilliant fixtures till gw 9 and as unknown to the epl as haller and West ham and villa should finish on similar points end of season so that 1.4 difference is purely due to fpl banking on villa looking like a championship side in the epl. However, they look like a epl side in the epl and hence why we've got a bargain on our hands :).

    5. jia you
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

Im on.WC and did consider Wesley for many reason but its his price point thats my issue...cannot easily trade him for the numerous 6.5+ options, hence siding with the more expensive Haller to begin with! I also like the potential value of McGinn as my Villa attacking asset!

    6. Valar(Keith)
      • 14 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

All that said I'm fully expecting haller to out score Wesley this week. I'm not an idiot :).. Its Norwich at home vs Palace away. Infact haller is as likely to score a brace as Wesley is to blank. Medium term I can see them Scoring similar though or atleast not worth 1.4 more similar.

      1. Nabs Kebabs
        • 12 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

Yep, if going of Wesley, the main thing will be not to kneejerk him out straight away. He is a long term value pick. Haller looks an explosive short term pick with Norwich and Villa in the next 2 but long term I don't think there is as much value there.
