Greenwood only a substitute as Rashford starts up front

Southampton take on Manchester United in the Gameweek 4 curtain-raiser. Kick-off at St. Mary’s is at 12:30pm BST.

An injury to Anthony Martial (£7.7m) against Palace had dominated the build-up to this match, with speculation rife as to whether Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer could hand a start to Mason Greenwood (£4.5m).

That hasn’t transpired, with budget FPL forward Greenwood only among the substitutes.

Solskjaer has made three changes to the Manchester United side that lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace in GW3, with Ashley Young (£5.4m), Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) and Juan Mata (£6.4m) starting in the lunch-time kick-off.

Young replaces the injured Luke Shaw (£5.5m) at left-back, whilst Solskjaer has shuffled his pack in the absence of Martial: Mata and Pereira earning starts against the Saints as Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) drops to the bench.

The Norwegian boss has turned to the tried and tested Mata to add attacking impetus to United’s frontline, with the Red Devils aiming to prevent their sluggish Premier League start turning into something of a nightmare after a winless run of two games.

This is a game of extreme importance in the Solsjkaer era at United and the decision to opt for experience in the form of Mata as opposed to a youthful prospect such as Greenwood is telling of how pivotal this fixture could be for United’s momentum in the initial stages of the 2019/20 campaign.

Meanwhile, Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl has made just two changes to his starting line-up for the game against United, with Cedric (£4.9m) and Sofiane Boufal (£5.5m) earning starts at the expense of Yan Valery (£5.0m) and Nathan Redmond (£6.4m).

The Saints will be looking to build on their impressive away victory over Brighton in Gameweek 3.

Southampton XI: Gunn, Cedric, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Danso, Højbjerg, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Adams, Ings.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Andreas, Mata, James, Rashford.

Pukki is owned by nearly everyone so you need to captain him to get any edge.

In the first three matches, West Ham have conceded the second-highest number of shots, the most in the box, the third-most shots on target and the most big chances conceded.

Meanwhile Brighton are second best in the league for shots in the penalty area, sixth best for shots on target conceded and second best for big chances conceded.

      C'mon Pukki party!

I see the doubt in Leno but Auba and eriksen are great options for the Long term. Pepe could find his way in if I look at Rashford over Auba to balance the defence more, on which case i’ll Have Pepe over Erik but I would happily have Pepe in there if I wasn’t so happy with this team as it is

I have to post my thinking behind taking a hit on bringing Aguero in, and using my TC on him this week, just so I can come back and view it after it backfires without hindsight clouding my judgement and allowing me to make excuses for myself:

Jesus (seems to be) out injured, should mean that he gets 90 minutes.
    Good at home
    On penalties.
Not that highly captained, or even owned.
International break afterwards, so no reason to rest him, and gives him a decent chance to start v Norwich.
One weeks preparation for this game, which will probably never happen again this season for the top teams.
Using it in a double GW is something I don't believe too much in anymore because the best players are the ones who usually get rotated and with games that close together you usually don't get the best team performance due to less preparation time/injuries/fatigue.
Eye test + stats from last game showed him getting into more dangerous positions then Sterling (or anyone else)
Hoping that Jesus gets the midweek CL game so that Aguero in that case starts vs Brighton, Norwich and Watford.
Last season International Break meant that Sterling got rested afterwards, which also gives Aguero a good chance of a start, perhaps together with Jesus.

Main reason not too use it:
It FEELS like Sterling will outscore Aguero this week, (And Aguero score bigger v Norwich) but I'm going to try to not let my emotions decide, rather the logic (posted above).
    Jesus isn't COMPLETELY ruled out.
Brighton aren't the worst team, or defense, in the league.
    Sterlings ownership + captaincy %.
Save it or later, never know what options could arise.

Alright, there we have it. F it, it's done all that is left is to cross my fingers and hope for the best or look an idiot when Sterling gets 20 points.

    Pray for me
