Greenwood only a substitute as Rashford starts up front

Southampton take on Manchester United in the Gameweek 4 curtain-raiser. Kick-off at St. Mary’s is at 12:30pm BST.

An injury to Anthony Martial (£7.7m) against Palace had dominated the build-up to this match, with speculation rife as to whether Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer could hand a start to Mason Greenwood (£4.5m).

That hasn’t transpired, with budget FPL forward Greenwood only among the substitutes.

Solskjaer has made three changes to the Manchester United side that lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace in GW3, with Ashley Young (£5.4m), Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) and Juan Mata (£6.4m) starting in the lunch-time kick-off.

Young replaces the injured Luke Shaw (£5.5m) at left-back, whilst Solskjaer has shuffled his pack in the absence of Martial: Mata and Pereira earning starts against the Saints as Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) drops to the bench.

The Norwegian boss has turned to the tried and tested Mata to add attacking impetus to United’s frontline, with the Red Devils aiming to prevent their sluggish Premier League start turning into something of a nightmare after a winless run of two games.

This is a game of extreme importance in the Solsjkaer era at United and the decision to opt for experience in the form of Mata as opposed to a youthful prospect such as Greenwood is telling of how pivotal this fixture could be for United’s momentum in the initial stages of the 2019/20 campaign.

Meanwhile, Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl has made just two changes to his starting line-up for the game against United, with Cedric (£4.9m) and Sofiane Boufal (£5.5m) earning starts at the expense of Yan Valery (£5.0m) and Nathan Redmond (£6.4m).

The Saints will be looking to build on their impressive away victory over Brighton in Gameweek 3.

Southampton XI: Gunn, Cedric, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Danso, Højbjerg, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Adams, Ings.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Andreas, Mata, James, Rashford.

West Ham vs Norwich will decide so many things for me:

    1. Manager of the month in about 5 cash leagues... Or not
    2. First differential captain (P)ukki, with -4 to get Haller and Cantwell
    3. 10K OR about to go big or bust. Could define my season

If anybody here knows Hardcore Levelling Warrior comic on Webtoon, I just played my Lucky Coin 😀

Yup. Very early. Almost felt stupid to take the risk... But oh well

Good luck to you as well

Yes hoping for lots of goals in this game, having Pukki, Cantwell and Haller. God speed brother.

Thanks! I'm expecting Sterling to do well as well. Having him without the captaincy on him just feels like a couch is needed

        EO at 165.22%, ffs

Hope (P)ukki doesn't get injured or any such freak incident

Far, far, far too early to be season defining, you've had a great start, I'd curb down on all the hits maybe, -16 already is a bit much.

Taken my last squad-building hit until a wildcard. Any hits from now on would be due to multiple injuries and/or suspensions that can't be covered by my bench or FTs

Needed to escape the preseason template early enough and decided to do so without a wildcard

If you can't beat the likes of Southampton, then forget about top 4.

I hate the Ole bashing as a fan but have to say he came up short today! At least James looked sharp and AWB his beastly self but Rashford and Pogba...good lord, both were shocking! Could do with Keane and Scholes back in that midfield...one of the weakest in the league we have!
    Rant over...
    ...over to you Pu(k)ki 🙂

United need to let pogba play more forward . He looks more interested in going forward and influencing the game.

I must make the worse transfers ever.

    Vardy >> Rashford
(Both crap but vardy will probably score now)

    Moura >> Ndombele
    (Gets Injured)

Majority would have been before deadline surely, or is this figure determined from deadline for FPL GW?

From deadline I think, thousands will have transferred James in before the game was even over too.

I did try to warn Greenwood owners that he'd get 15 to 20 mins max and I was proved right unfortunately! Rashford's ass should have been hauled off on the 60 min mark.!

Most Greenwood owners didn't expect loads of minutes. Just a more exciting and inviting pick than an injured Dendoncker or Lundstram.

I thought he had a chance to start RW, thought Mata would be too slow to start away from home, Lingard rubbish, Perreira average.
