Fixtures

The first Blank Gameweek of 2019/20 is confirmed

Confirmation of the first Blank Gameweek of the season came on Wednesday morning.

West Ham United v Liverpool in Gameweek 18 has been postponed due to the Reds’ participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

A new date for the fixture is yet to be announced but, given that Gameweek 18 takes place on the weekend of Saturday 21 December/Sunday 22 December, the match can’t be moved into the following midweek.

Liverpool will play two fixtures in the Club World Cup, with a semi-final scheduled for Tuesday 17 December/Wednesday 18 December and final or third-place play-off taking place on Saturday 21 December.

Fantasy Premier League managers can use their first Wildcard up to the Gameweek 20 deadline on Saturday 28 December, so those who have managed to retain their chip by the time we approach Christmas may consider using it around this Blank Gameweek – although the announcement of the mini-Double Gameweek for Liverpool and West Ham, whenever that may come, could change all that.

The Reds won’t have a free midweek until 2020 if they progress to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup but, should Jurgen Klopp’s side and the Hammers both be eliminated from that competition early, there is a slim possibility that the postponed Premier League fixture could be rearranged for a midweek when that competition is taking place.

It does seem, at this point, that the likeliest scenario is a reschedule for the New Year.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 4

Lol, you are going to wait until gw18 and then play it to get rid of Liverpool players who will be back the following week? Good luck with that

Yup. Cantwell, Lundstram and one other hopefully still nailed and earning a start then with easy fixtures.

I played my WC after GW 2. I jumped from 500,000 to 200,000 in GW 3 plus in Gw 4 I scored 72 pts and jumped to 123,000 overall. If I hadn't have used my WC I've caculated I'd be around the 800,000 mark now instead of 123,000. So good luck catching me when you use your WC. It's not about saving your WC it's about using it at the tight time to accumulate the maximum points.

Better 4.5s available imo. 3 wing backs for example in Montoya, Baldock and Willems and a bloody CM/CAM in Lundstram at 4.2

Tomkins and sakho isn’t competition i’d Want to have. Tomkins has been exceptional for a long time I thought Cahill was signed as back up at the time. I want a hot topic on 4.5s done in the break I tried to set it up but was at an awkward time.

I don't like having a 4.0 from a team I may at one point want 3 'playing' players. The chances of the 4.0 from another team playing when your 4.5 is out are very low indeed. Good spot though.

Aye. We've got plenty of time to prep for it anyway, plus Liverpool have Leicester (a) on Boxing Day - so it's not like triple Liverpool will be mandatory then (as it's not now). Benching one or two players should be do-able for one week at least.

I don't think I'd be too keen on losing money on TAA and Salah if they continue rising - rather just throw them on the bench for a week.

          1. SADIO SANÉ
            • 8 Years
            4 years, 6 months ago

Depends on your team at the time but with an immediate wildcard losing out on 0.2 isn't a big deal - but yeah many will be benching for a week

  7. BigDaveSaves
    • 9 Years
    4 years, 6 months ago

This makes me content with only have two Pool players for the foreseeable - looks like a playing bench will be vital.

I'm still without KDB and have Aguero and Sterling instead - those who are fitting all three in must get so excited for the matches ha!

    Richarlison anyone?

Everton's most likely asset and well priced. Siggy and Moise Kean aren't up to much atm. He could've had a hat trick and of EVE are to take advantage of these fixtures, he's going to have to be at the head of things

    Good afternoon all.
I’ve wildcarded early to avoid price rises(?) and relieve the boredom of the international break!
Any advice on the below WIP? Mings could be anyone else, but figured Villa have 4 nice fixtures in the next 5. James and Abraham I’m not 100% sold on and the bench worries me a little… Thanks in advance!

    Pope
    TAA - Mings - Digne
    Salah - Son - KDB - Pepe - James
    Abraham - Pukki

    Button - Lundstram - Greenwood - Kelly

Kane is averaging almost 6 points per game this year in a misfiring Spurs team.
Son is now back, Eriksen more settled and Spurs have good fixtures to come.
I wouldn’t rush to bring him in but if like me you own him I see no reason to sell, especially given his track record and his high ceiling.

From what I can see then you'd need both the Hammers and Pool to lose in the third round for any chance of an early DGW, even worse for Pool is if they get through to the quarters then that game will likely need to also be rearranged.

      • 6 Years

Just remembered theirs a winter break scheduled this year in GW 26 so that would be an obvious spot to place an early DGW.

I doubt they'd do that. If you put games in the break... well, it stops being a break.

By playing 2 budget forwards and having Cantwell as a playing mid.

      My front 7 is:

      Salah, Sterling, KdB, Pepe, Cantwell
      Pukki, Wesley

Cheap strikers and downgrade one expensive defender.

    4. Ask Yourself

You can do it it just means 4.5 over Ota and 6.5 striker over haller

  18. Arteta

    4 years, 6 months ago

    Heaton - Woodman
    Robertson - van Dijk - Zinchenko - Wan-Bissaka - Lundstram
    Salah - Sterling - Pepe - Cantwell - Dendoncker
    Vardy - Wesley - Greenwood

So I have one free fransfer and 0.4 in the bank.
Would you use wildcard if this was your team?
I know I've already missed some price rises, just wanna know what you think. Cheers!

On a WC, thoughts on this lot:

    Pope
    TAA | Digne | Lundstrum
    Salah | Sterling | KDB | Ceballos
    Abraham | Haller | Pukki

    Woodman | Guilbert | Dendonker | Kelly

Lundstrum / Guilbert / Dendonker rotating last spot.

If a 4.0 defender drops to 3.9 may replace Kelly with them for some savings.

Interested in hearing alternatives to Guilbert.

Looks fine. I like it. Dendo > Guendouzi maybe. Assuming Guilbert is because you need 0.1m to get a 4.5m otherwise Soyuncu/Lowton is better.

With having Ceballos not too keen on a double up with Guendouzi.

I've got 0.1m in the bank so can get any 4.5m defender, Leicesters fixtures and already having Pope from Burnley putting me off Soyuncu/Lowton.

      Oooof

It’s very thin around the edges. If Ceballos becomes nailed then the rotating eleventh spot could work. Wouldn’t want any injuries!

Yeah Ceballos could be the key, he looked great when he came on in the NLD. Think he'll be starting most games going forward.

Arsenals upcoming run is why I'm punting on him.

          Dubious about that one.

Poor fixtures were predicated on Wolves in middle of EL and a rubbish Arsenal defence with signings unavailable or to be bedded in . I can see Leicester Villa and Everton causing as much trouble for them as they’ve had so far.

      Everton GW14-18 (30 Nov - 21 Dec)

Horrible 5 matches: they play a quartet of former Premier League Champions and Liverpool. :-p

Sure you already know this but remember the points are still really close together. I dropped from 82k > 476k and there's hardly anything in it. I think I worked out I'm something like 16 points away from top 100k again.

Couple of solid weeks and you're right back in the mix.

Love AWB but United way too shaky. Could get Lundstram and use money to upgrade King next week or a -4.

Wondering if King will perform at home against Everton next GW?

        Or

Whether Lund will hold clean at home against Southampton.

Help me guys, I'm planing a -4 hit, so which option is better :

    Wan-Bisaka and Pulisic OUT for:

    A) TAA + Ceballos
    B) VVD + Lanzini
I already have Robbo, Haller and Pepe, so which double-up is better, Arsenal's or West Ham's ?

  27. Atimis

Am I right to say that my only concerns now are AWB, Martial and Ceballos so if I keep FT I may sort it out next week for -4?

    Ryan
    TAA/Digne/WB
    Salah/Sterling/KDB/Martial/Ceballos
    Pukki/Barnes

    Button/Lund/Rico/Green

WC dropped for Int. break tinkering, interested to hear thoughts:

    Ryan
    Lundstram - Mings - Soyuncu
    Mane - Sterling - KDB - James
    Vardy - Firmino - Tammy

    Bench: Button, Kelly, Hanley, Dendonk
    Bank: £0.3M

Lack of premium defender(s) too much of a risk?

    Cheers.

Aggressive, but I like it. You can always downgrade a player to make way for a premium defender if they start firing.

He’s not protected, just requires more transfers out which will inevitably happen with this news
