HURRAH!! The community tournament is back where teams of FFS members pit their collective FPL teams against each other for eternal FFS glory (and free membership for next season). As announced in a hot topic on Monday, player registration is now open. Please use this form to enter yourself into this season’s Community Tournament – http://forms.gle/uV8pCU1EEEDD7u5a9 , the deadline for registering is 30th September.
Once registered, your name will appear on the Pre-Draft Players list –Â https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1opsYBJnWkaqpcikXT-o-5WgeFGf8-CIKxsIRQIiBzs0/edit?usp=sharing , for the team managers to peruse and start forming their teams.
I am very happy to announce that the first twelve Team managers have now been confirmed and they are –
- Pirlo’s Pen – has managed a Community Tournament team for the previous three seasons
- Jarvish – rumour has it a former Countdown winner, and also a former team manager in Community Tournaments
- KIRAFPL – starting this season strongly just outside top 20K atm
- Narcos – another former team manager, this is Narcos’ 10th FPL season
- Speedyboyz – Currently ranked 475…in the Christmas Island league. Another former team manager
- The Fantastic Mr Fox – beat the great Mark Sutherns in a H2H in last season’s quarter finals
- The_Socca_Philosopha – back to FPL after a sabbatical, but has been a team manager in similar tournaments in days of yore
- Lawro – all bow to the godfather of Community Tournaments, taking a back seat this season on the organising front.
- Tets Mcgee – a former team winner of this competition and currently on his 12th season
- Toblerone52 – a keen statistician, Toby is on his 9th FPL season, this is his first run as a team manager
- Gwitbrock – another first time manager I believe, and currently placed 413 places ahead of Speedyboyz in the Christmas Island league!
- Doosra – I don’t believe this man needs much introduction, Doosra is on his 12th FPL season and is heartily welcomed back to manage another team in the Community Tournament
A massive thanks to all the above for volunteering, and the same to True Deadzoner, shotgunnufc, FPL_SMR and Geevious for also throwing their hats into the ring to be team managers – you may yet be called upon to fulfill your duties.
What happens now?
Currently it looks like we will have twelve teams of fifteen FPL players come draft day. We are keeping an option open for twenty four teams, but we will need more volunteer managers to step forward and at least 240 registered players for this to happen. To be a manager, apply by sending an email to punditsplayoff@gmail.com with your FFS name, FPL ID# and FPL team name, the deadline for manager applications is Friday 13th September.
The team managers are now allowed to make 7 pre-draft signings, to get your name in early you will have to tap them up via the comments sections below. But fear not, the remaining slots in their teams will be filled via a draft system on 9th October…why so far away? Read on to see how it all works…
Financial Fair Play
As alluded to in the first article, there will be a financial fair play aspect to this season’s Community Tournament. Each player, including the team managers, will be given a value based on their ranking within the tournament. Each team will be allocated a budget, or pot, to buy these players with, that they will not be allowed to exceed.
Player values explained
Every player’s value is generated by their score ranking within the tournament itself. The players in the highest tier will be valued at £100m, the lowest tier will be valued at £1m. For the initial draft the ranking will be based on each player’s overall score between gameweeks 1-7. Once the tournament starts the rankings will be based on all the player’s scores from GW9 onwards. It is important to understand that your player value is not static and will change with your scores as the tournament progresses. Initial player values for the draft will be finalised on Wednesday 2nd October after GW7.
Recruitment
There will be two ways for managers to recruit players for their teams. We will kick off with pre-draft signings which are limited to seven per team, and then teams will be completed via a draft bidding system.
Pre-draft signings are where players join a team at the agreement of both the player and the manager. These signings will cost the team the player’s value and a £20m flat transfer fee. The window for pre-draft signings closes on Tuesday 1st October. Once you have agreed to join a team, your manager will indicate this on the Pre-Draft Players list – https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1opsYBJnWkaqpcikXT-o-5WgeFGf8-CIKxsIRQIiBzs0/edit?usp=sharing.
You will then receive an email to confirm your place, if you find yourself entered into a team without consent and you wish to be released, reply to the email and we will release you asap.
Draft signings will be made via a draft system. All registered players who are still unsigned when the draft opens will be placed on a bidding list in value order, with the highest value players first. Team managers will be given some time to prepare a list of bids for as many players as they choose. The draft will take place on Wednesday 9th October.

Hi, just realised I submitted my name rather than FFS name (smart of me...), is it possible to get this changed on the spreadsheet to my FFS name just for ease of talking about it on here? Sorry to be a pain! My team ID is 9791.
Also cheers for the work that goes into this, appreciate there must be a lot of work involved!
