Flores back in the Watford hot seat as Ceballos and Ozil return for Arsenal

The penultimate match of Gameweek 5 sees Watford take on Arsenal at Vicarage Road. Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

This is returning head coach Quique Sanchez Flores’ first Watford match in charge since departing the Hornets at the end of the 2015/16 season.

Flores has made three changes to the starting XI that drew 1-1 at Newcastle a fortnight ago, with Jose Holebas (£4.8m), Gerard Deulofeu (£6.2m) and the fit-again Etienne Capoue (£4.9m) replacing Daryl Janmaat (£4.4m), the injured Craig Cathcart (£4.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£5.8m).

The release of the teamsheet had the Hornets lining up in a 4-2-3-1, a formation Flores had favoured on and off during his managerial career.

Andre Gray (£5.9m) leads the line, with Ismaila Sarr (£6.4m) among the substitutes.

There is no place in the matchday squad for Danny Welbeck (£6.0m), however.

Unai Emery has made two changes to the side that rescued a point in the north London derby.

The injured Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m) is replaced by Mesut Ozil (£7.3m), while Dani Ceballos (£5.7m) returns to the side in place of Lucas Torreira (£4.9m).

The Gunners may well be playing in a 4-4-2 diamond, given the number of central midfielders in the starting XI.

This corresponding fixture last season saw the Gunners keep their only clean sheet of 2018/19.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) scored the only goal of that match.

The Gabon international is the sixth most-popular captaincy choice of Gameweek 5.

Aubameyang starts up front with Nicolas Pepe (£9.4m) this afternoon.

Watford XI: Foster, Femenia, Dawson, Kabasele, Holebas, Doucoure, Capoue, Hughes, Cleverley, Deulofeu, Gray.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac, Ceballos, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Ozil, Aubameyang, Pepe.

I think people writing Everton off too soon given their fixtures, personally bringing in Digne and Rich

I am, it was meant to be Pepe had he done well in this game but he was pants so instead it has to be Rich and upgrade my entire defence. Digne is a season keeper, Rich im punting on tbh. Round that 8 mil mark in midfield there just isnt anyone else im interested in. Got Tammy so dont want Mount, Dilva is an option but he didnt inspire me yesterday. Rich is more a pick because there is no one else

Would be interested to hear some feedback from the community on this one....

I was one of no doubt quite a few over the weekend that TC'd Aguero for this great fixture against what we thought was a seriously depleted Norwich side. As we know he came away with one goal and no bonus (so didn't blank at least.)

None the less i do feel somewhat disappointed (as i am sure others who played the same move do.) Yet does it really constitute a failed use of the TC chip? I've played it before in double weeks and have come away with three points. In fact every time i've used my TC chip on Aguero (three in total) he has never blanked. Obviously we'd all like a big haul when using it but the chances are that probably wont happen.

I'm telling myself at least he didn't blank, but must admit i do feel short changed - i mean who the hell saw that result coming!? (by the way i did have Pukki and played him.)

Time will tell. If all the other major triple captain's fail then yes it will be a success.

Yes it's disappointing but can't really say right now

      It's not a fail.

I've captained Kane for 3 points over a DGW and Salah for 2 points (vs Fulham) in the last 2 seasons; they're fails 😀

"the chances are that probably wont happen", yet you decrease those chances two fold, and increase your points potential twofold, in a double game week.

Yeah, it wasn't a complete disaster. Ask the Sane champions from last year. Move on now that it's done.

It will only hurt if there is a complete bandwagon later and that is successful. Like a Salah haul in the inevitable DGW this year.

I'd see that as mini success.

Ive had 1 points TCs in the last two seasons. Both in double game weeks. KDB two seasons ago and Sane last season. 6 points is ok although clearly not good if everyone else uses it on Salah who hauls.

If I had Aguero I might have TC'd him. Given Norwich's injuries, on paper there probably won't be a better single game in which to choose a TC. But in principle I am strongly in favor of waiting for double gameweek opportunities to present themselves for the reasons stated by Jonboy above. So I'd say it wasn't a fail for a single GW. But I would be kicking myself for not having stuck to my principles if I had done it.

I've always done this in the past without ever really hitting a major success (well aside from Sanchez some years ago now.) This is the first time ive ever played it in SGW since it was introduced. I think perhaps whether it was was any kind of success or a dismal faliure wont really be known until those around me in my ML's have played theirs.

No doubt next week it will be a 6-0 drubbing of Watford with Aguero getting a 20pt haul. It always seems to work that way doesn't it!? Ah, the joys of Fantasy Football....

    Pope, Button
    Robertson, VVD, Zinchenko, Digne, Lundstrum
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, McGinn, Dendoncker
    Pukki, King, Greenwood

Would quite like to get Abraham in but only 1FT and £0.2m in the bank.

Is it worth a -4 to do Robertson/VVD & King -> 6.1/5.7 + Abraham? Or should I wait until next week and use 2FT.

That means 2 strikers and currently so many good cheap strikers doing well.
So, I'd get Cantwell as 5th Midfielder & go with 3 playing strikers

      1. Ser Davos

This is the uncomfortable truth and means WC time:

        Pope | Button

        Ward/Lowton | Tomori | Guillbert | Lund | Rico

        Salah | Sterling | KDB | Son | Cantwell

        Pukki | Haller | Abraham

Pretty flexible, no cash itb BUT the is the WC justified with maintaining the core of Rico - Lund - Salah - Sterling - KDB - Pukki - Haller?

Thanks Amey. Yes, flexible enough to get Mane/Aguero/Auba if needed and it doesn't take much to upgrade the backline.

TAA is way too expensive for my tastes at 7+, both in isolation and in the current context/landscape of the game.

Just pushed the WC button after absymal start:

    Pope Button
    Aurier Lundstram Soyuncu Rico Hanley
    Son Sterling KDB Mane Cantwell
    Abraham C.Wilson Pukki

    G2g?

      That Defense is awful bro.
      Like Arsenal team 😀
      Brilliant attack & no Defense.
Bit can work handsomely as CS are a thing of the past now.
I'd personally get a 4.5m Defender for Aurier & upgrade Hanley if you are set on the attack

Yeah true, but in all honesty, how many CS's you expecting Pool to get in the next 5? Unless Alisson comes back which may still not be enough to get them enough cleanies. Digne is a positive attacking LB but Iwobi doesnt help and Everton as a whole are just not good enough. Defence has no protection. I look at other options but cant see many atm. Cheers.

I'm also thinking about Selling Digne tbh.
          But I'd definitely keep Taa.
They conceded a goal which was a pile-driver.
Also he is almost 10+ when they keep CS with constant attacking threat he offers

Yes that is true but Aurier is far from first choice at this stage. He just started one game after several months

its actually pretty similar to mine but I didnt go for the kamikaze defence route:
      Heaton
TAA - Digne - Aurier (Lunds, Rico)
Son - KDB - Mane - Rich (Cantwell)
      Wilson - Pukki - Tammy

My weakness is ofc the lack of Sterling/Kun. But I will give this team 2/3 weeks and if Sterling is killing me then I can fix it easy enuf, (have a route to it)

fair enuf, I just look at Dignes ownership for top managers and its very high. He blanks then gets a haul, just need to be patient with him imo. Feel like I kinda need him tbh, more so than a Liverpool given his price in comparison to TAA

Digne is a good option who will give you crazy ppints 1 gw and follow up with 2/3 absymal returns. Everton also not keeping cleanies, neither are they playing well. He may get u 17 points next gw but he can also easily give you negative scores. I will look elsewhere.

I think I'd have felt a lot more secure if Ceballos had stayed on a bit longer... 40 for the week after Wilson rescued my week. 8 behind in my HU match with Haller left to play for him... meaning a goal could well see him get the 9 (2+4+3) needed to pip me.

But 40 should be enough to survive the LMS league, right? Go me!

ah I tried keeper rotation last season and it went badly, so not to keen on it. My mate was doing it with Pope and Heaton and he picked the Heaton cs at least (which was annoying). But now he wildcarded and isnt doing it. I dont think they had home and away rotation anyway, think he was just doing it by better fixture, which is even worse? IDK lol maybe he doesnt understand keeper rotation
