FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 6

The Fantasy Premier League dynamic is set to change somewhat this week with the return of continental competitions.

The Champions League and Europa League group stages will be back on our screens over the next few days, and are likely to affect the top-flight’s best teams going into Gameweek 6.

That’s just one of many talking points to discuss this week though, so we’ve put together another panel of Fantasy managers to answer your questions…

Who’s on the panel this week?

Ted / Rotation’s Alter Ego – Moderator and the site’s recently appointed Assistant Community Manager. Ted finished 633rd in the world last season.

Holly Shand – Founder of Fantasy Football Community, two top 10k finishes in four seasons and regular FPL Show guest.

Who Got the Assist? – Tom and Nick run one of Twitter’s most active Fantasy accounts and run their very own blog, also producing an excellent regular podcast.

FPL Family – Lee and Sam run the popular Fantasy podcast and Twitter account. They were guests on the FPL Show last season.

A: Keep Kane (lei, SOU, bha, WAT)
B: FT Kane to Pukki (bur, cry, AVL, bou)

    leaning A

Pick one as my best post Kane option

    A) Auba + one of Cantwell/Montoya/Lundstram/Soyuncu each week

    B) Vardy + Abraham pairing consistently

My other starting striker is Pukki

It’s a hold on orthodox view. One way into both Son Abraham is the hit from Kun. Don’t like it myself.

Actually think the move from Sterling to Son is worth looking at. The big City triple up is bold and Kun KdB Mane is string Liverpool City attack in any case. I’m also thinking that Sterling is overdue a rest especially if he gets CL.

I nearly have exactly the same team as you apart from defence. I’ve got 2 FT and doing my 4.5 striker and sterling to Auba and 4.5 midfielder

Already got Mings, got Pope as GK so not sure on Burnley double up.

So Aguero captain for me GW6. Think that is what everyone will do which has Aguero

    But

Going Salah vs CHE's futile defence and him having them for lunch and them sum could see you move up the ranks.

I will make my decision at the very last moment.

That is the only problem I have with City assets at the moment.

Pep benching KDB blew up in his face but it is possible again. Do not feel bothered about no Sterling as he could very well be on the chopping block for GW6.

Aguero could see an early second half being subbed for Jesus.

        Jesus could start.

It is frustrating getting in KDB and that GW no show 1 pointer...

Depending what Pep does with Kun over the next few GW's will determine whether I stick or twist.

All the City players will get benched at some stage. But with that loss they are 5 points behind Liverpool and can not afford to slip up. Pep must focus on wins in the league, whilst a draw or even a loss in the CL group stage wont matter as long as they get through to the knockout stages.

I can't say for certain, but I would put my money on Aguero/Sterling/KDB's minutes being managed in CL whilst they will all start against Watford!

Regardless of any other issues, with 1.6m and 1FT is Jota>Abraham a no brainer this week? Already did Deadonks>Cantwell and that worked out well. Wolves look a no-go. I really though Jota might perform last weekend.

No one is guaranteed a cs thus far, chelsea tore pool apart in the super cup at times and really deserved ti win it imho so tammy can defo get something against them.
Chelsea are young and hungry to prove themselves so will push for every ball and that can unsettle pool.
Im putting chelsea for the win this wkend, pool are losing the hunger and getting the proverbial "superstar" chip on their shoulders which will cost them if they forget what got them to how they are now

    Hi lads
    Another frustrated double pool sitch
0.2itb cant do much to go up
    Current def:
    TAA ,VVD, Digne, lund, Ota

    A)keep vvd
    B)drop to aurier/AMN/Lowton or ?
    C) drop to matip?

Definitely not gonna go for robbo, love his potential but feel the funds can be used elsewhere at least until it becomes ridiculous to have double pool def

Maitland-niles, lowton and aurier have caught my eye but anyone have a different fullback option in a similar 4.5 - 5.1 price range

A real gem imo judging from ict index and eye test wouls be femenia but wiv watford def looking more likely to get 0, 1 or -1 im turning away

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I know Poch likes to rotate fullbacks but with Foyth out and KWP not impressing, is Aurier likely to hold down the RB spot for the foreseeable?

    1. Captain_Shirokov
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 6 months ago

I feel like anyone picking full backs from Spurs either doesn't remember how that went the last few seasons or is just oblivious to Poch's rotation policy.

Disagree because I'm going with Aurier and understand both of those things.

I can handle rotation at his price of 4.9m. As long as your bench is half decent it's fine.

Personally id say wait on it for at least gw6 to pass, yeah its 0.1 increase that "might" happen, dont think so since he only started 1 game this season, but it will help to see if kwp has any chance of threatening aurier or will be used more for efl+FA unless schedule/injury changes things

I'm thinking of bringing Aurier in. Lundstrum and Rico are two great bench enablers - most weeks I'll be happy for them to come in if Aurier gets rested (chances of a cameo are slim).

Foyth is expected back next gw so that's 3 players who can play RB. It's a risk but could be an option if you have the bench to cover

I've got Walker Peters by default. Originally had Laporte there, but downgraded to a 5.0 to switch King to Wilson on draft. The 5.0 was meant to become Zouma. Glad I dodged that bullet! I have Lundstram and Kelly so as above if KWP doesn't play I have a super sub. I may well get Otamendi next week in though for him as have 0.6m to play with. Although I'm not even sure that's good move now.!

Any thoughts on a triple of Lunds/Rico/Kelly and cross fingers alongside two premiums?

    Ryan
    TAA Matip Digne Zinchenko
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount
    Abraham Pukki

    Subs: Button Lundstram Greenwood Dendoncker

Obviously will wait until the weekend, but pretty happy with my team. I brought Matip KDB and Abraham in for a -8 last week. Matip and KDB obviously didn't work out this week but they look like solid picks.

However I'm thinking double Liverpool defense may be overkill but I'm not sure. I have 1 ft and 0.0 itb, so I think my options this week are:

    A) Save FT
    B) Matip -> Aurier (FT)
    C) Matip + Dendoncker -> Rico + Ceballos or Iwobi (-4)

Dont overthink it mate , quite similar to mine except i went ota and aguero instead of zinch and sterl.

Neither transfer is absolutely necessary or gonna have an instant impact of significance. Options are slowly opening up so id say stick and keep a look out at least till gw7

How’s this wc team? Clear lack of Chelsea but looks pretty strong:
    Heaton
    Digne - Aurier - Matip
    Sterling - KDB - Son - Mane - Cantwell
    Pukki - Wilson
(Button, lunds, Rico, Greenwood) so involves playing one of Cantrell, Lunda or Rico each week

    A) Digne + AWB (any other 5.5)
    B) TAA + 4.5 (which one)

If you had to pick only 3 premiums? Currently on A B C but D and E could run riot...

    A. Salah
    B. KDB
    C. Sterling
    D. Son
    E. Auba
    F. Aguero
    G. Mane

I get the fixtures, but I'm still inclined to leave out E/F purely because of the great mid-price forwards. Fully understand why they are awesome though.

Going for Barnes instead of Pukki has been a big mistake..
Do I break up my team and get a hit to do Barnes -> Pukki?

      Current team...
      Pope
      Zinc Digne TAA
      Sterling Salah Mount KDB Cantwell
      Haller Pukki
      Heaton-Lund-Rico-G'wood (0.9itb)

I won't act this week, but from GW6 which is the better option going forward.
      A. Just do Haller to Tammy and gradually build funds for getting him/3rd fwd back or upgrade from Mount to Son.
      B. Take an -8 next week (Digne/Zinc/Gwood to Soy/Aurier/Abraham)
      C. WC to something like this...

      Pope
      Soyuncu Mings TAA
      Son Sterling Salah Cantwell KDB
      Abraham Pukki
      Button-Dunk-Lund-G'wood

With how unappealing a lot of the premium defensive options look comparatively to the premium attacking options, Im convinced that now might be a time to go for a very cheap rotating defense.

For example, currently thinking: Lundstram, Rico, Aurier, Soyuncu, Zinchenko

Aurier and Zinchenko can be swapped for KWP, Otamendi if/ when they get rotated out and 0.5 will be left in the bank to upgrade Rico if necessary.

Anyone in a similar boat? Thought on this in general?

Anyone else looking at picking value from a variety of attacks with mostly sub prime premiums or mid rankers?

Thinking ahead I’m looking at this non SS front 7 as a possible from GW7. Feels like great value with all being class leaders or near to for value. Defence looks pretty ok too.

      KdB Mane Son Martial
      Tammy Vardy* Pukki

      Haller/Wilson until GW9

Obvs a fair bit depends on Martial. But Mount is an easy swap if necessary and I haven’t given up on Siggy either and Fraser remains in watchlist.

          Possibly

But Vardy is my long term pick. Just can’t see him not getting 20 plus goals this season - he gets me one more premium defender and I’m confident they’ll be value too
