The FPL line-up lessons we learned from Gameweek 5

We take our regular look back at the Premier League line-ups from the weekend just gone, analysing the systems and personnel used by the 20 top-flight clubs and seeing what lessons could be learned ahead of Gameweek 6.

The article has taken a slightly different format this week as we harness the use of the average position maps in our Members’ Area.

The figures in brackets given after each player name correspond to the numbered shirts in the position maps.

Members can read on for further analysis, while those wishing to subscribe can still do so by clicking here – memberships cost £17.50 for the remainder of 2019/20 and a video of the benefits can be accessed here.

    Pick one.

    A)Sterling+Guilbert+Lowton
*Guil+Low will be benched, Rico+Lundy will play.
    *Sterling only City asset

    B)deBruyne+Vertonghen+Otamendi
*KdB and Ota would be the only City assets I'd have

This is on a WC, a possible long term investment, though.
        Might I know your reasoning?

if only one asset from city, I wud have KDB given the price,,,,and Ota and Vertonghen more reliable than the other two

which captaincy options wud u have in absence of sterling?

Richarlison on a wildcard a bad pick?

I'm not convinced on Cantwell/Pukki double up yet.

Not a bad pick imo, but be ready for frustrating games where he does little.

With what transpired in Europe, which of these pairs looks better:

    1) Mané Aguero
    2) Sterling Aubameyang

I actually prefer 2 mid-term but for the next 2 weeks at least, has to be 1, surely?

Just seen Trippier got two assists last night for Atletico, a MotM performance, and if you look at social media, he's turning into a cult hero there. Wow. Haven't seen an Englishman do well abroad in a looong time, possibly since McManaman.

Hi style of play suits the La Liga really well. Doesn't defend well but he is so efficient in attack.

Caught out a few times vs Juve, tbf, but he's basically almost a playmaker for Atletico in attack.

His corners are bloody deadly too.

He is built for La Liga indeed. He is the opposite of Walker if you ask me. Walker good for PL.

What will it take for Greenwood to start this season? Played well in his cameos, certainly offers a lot more than Lingard.
Chong . .. idk, looks a talent but has shown himself to be naive in his passing when I've seen him. A lot of energy and desire, but needs to improve a lot.
Tuanzebe, pretty much make or break this season. Needs to show he has what it takes to be a regular, or he'll be sold next season like Paddy mcNair, Donald Love etc. Think he's very good, but does Ole trust him?

    How nailed is Aurier...?

I think I want him and will probably regret it 🙂

I’m also considering but also think I would regret it. No such thing as a nailed Spuds fullback at the best of times, never mind one who has only started one league game in a row so far and wasn’t on bench in the last game overall. Could pay off but it’s definitely a risk.

Last touch of my WC saga. Which one, please?
    a) Auguero, Mane, KDB (No Sterling) ?
    b) Auba, Salah, KDB (No Sterling) ?

A I reckon, looks like Aguero will start in league and Jesus cups, great fixtures to boot. Can always downgrade later at worst.

What’s your lineup btw? I’m also on WC and have settled on front 3 of Haller, Pukki and Tammy. But feels daft not getting Kun as mega hauls do not seem unlikely and Sterling has not looked great past 3 City games.
