Dugout Discussion

Potter tinkers again as Murray and Duffy benched for Brighton

Brighton manager Graham Potter continues to prove himself as unpredictable as far as tactics and team selections are concerned.

Once again, he has rolled out a completely different system to last time out as the Seagulls prepare for an away match at Newcastle.

Potter has lined up his troops in a 4-3-1-2 system lead by Neal Maupay (£6.0m) and budget midfielder Steven Alzate (£4.5m).

Unafraid of keeping his senior players on their toes, the manager has also put Glenn Murray (£5.8m) and Shane Duffy (£5.0m) on the bench.

That makes for a centre-back partnership of Lewis Dunk (£4.6m) and Adam Webster (£4.4m), while Dan Burn (£4.5m) retains his left-back berth of a week ago after playing in the middle for the first four matches of the season.

Meanwhile, Martín Montoya (£4.5m) has recovered from tonsilitis and reclaims his place at right-back and Aaron Mooy (£4.9m) gets his first start in midfield.

By contrast, Newcastle go with their tried and tested 5-3-2 formation, led by Joelinton (£5.9m) and Miguel Almirón (£5.9m).

However, there is unlikely to massive FPL interest in this Saturday evening game as the most popular player on show will be on the Brighton bench.

David Button (£4.0m) remains in 25% of teams and is also the most fashionable shot-stopper among managers inside the top 10,000 as well.

Dunk is the most popular playing asset, currently in 11% of teams, while no Newcastle player is owned by more than Isaac Hayden‘s (£4.5m) 6.5%.

Newcastle XI: Dúbravka; Willems, Dummett, Lascelles, Schär, Manquillo; Atsu, Shelvey, Hayden; Almirón, Joelinton.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Burn, Webster, Dunk, Montoya; Mooy, Stephens, Pröpper; Groß; Alzate, Maupay.

Daniel James has travelled with the #mufc squad to London. No sign of Mason Greenwood, though.

They are experimenting with 3 at the back.

Zouma, Christensen, Tomori, Rudiger fighting for CB spots. With 3 at the back, he's definitely in the mix. But if it's 2 at the back, and Rudiger is fit, that leaves 1 spot between Zouma, Christensen and Tomori. Don't love his odds of getting regular starts then.

Zinchenko surely one to sell, probably a downgrade to a 4.5/Ota

But what about Digne now? City next.

Following a disastrous week, I have clicked the WC button to get ahead of price changes. Please let me know thoughts on the below WC team as I am worried I am making rash decisions:

    Pope
    Otamendi | Soyuncu | Lowton
    Salah | Son | KDB | Mount
    Auba | Abraham | Pukki

    Bench: Button, Lundy, Rico, Cantwell

    Am I mad?

I don't want to sound like im sh*****tting on Sterling, but he has returned a total of 5 points against Brighton, Norwich and Watford. In these games City have scored 14 goals. Is he worth the 12m price tag and a City spot? Discuss:

Him and Zinchenko scored 32 for my main ML rival Eddie! I'm not pi****sed about it but I could use the Sterling money for Abaumayang for example. I had Kun as captain (for the three games I mentioned) and KdB so I got points but 12m can go a long way elsewhere. Not sure if he is worth keeping longer term

If Mount plays tomorrow I wont see Lundstram points 🙁
Capped Mane over Sterling\KDB looks like a bad decision too.
Brought in Barnes for a hit, what was I thinking ?

Considered a WC, but may hold now...

      Pope
      TAA / VVD / Otamendi
      Salah / Sterling / KDB / Cantwell
      Abraham / Pukki / Barnes

      Button // Kelly / Dendoncker / Montoya

      FT: Jota/Digne >> Otamendi/Abraham?

I'll probably have to do it tonight (eek), but if it went tits up I still have the WC to deal.

      Anything else wlook positive?
