Dugout Discussion

Potter tinkers again as Murray and Duffy benched for Brighton

Brighton manager Graham Potter continues to prove himself as unpredictable as far as tactics and team selections are concerned.

Once again, he has rolled out a completely different system to last time out as the Seagulls prepare for an away match at Newcastle.

Potter has lined up his troops in a 4-3-1-2 system lead by Neal Maupay (£6.0m) and budget midfielder Steven Alzate (£4.5m).

Unafraid of keeping his senior players on their toes, the manager has also put Glenn Murray (£5.8m) and Shane Duffy (£5.0m) on the bench.

That makes for a centre-back partnership of Lewis Dunk (£4.6m) and Adam Webster (£4.4m), while Dan Burn (£4.5m) retains his left-back berth of a week ago after playing in the middle for the first four matches of the season.

Meanwhile, Martín Montoya (£4.5m) has recovered from tonsilitis and reclaims his place at right-back and Aaron Mooy (£4.9m) gets his first start in midfield.

By contrast, Newcastle go with their tried and tested 5-3-2 formation, led by Joelinton (£5.9m) and Miguel Almirón (£5.9m).

However, there is unlikely to massive FPL interest in this Saturday evening game as the most popular player on show will be on the Brighton bench.

David Button (£4.0m) remains in 25% of teams and is also the most fashionable shot-stopper among managers inside the top 10,000 as well.

Dunk is the most popular playing asset, currently in 11% of teams, while no Newcastle player is owned by more than Isaac Hayden‘s (£4.5m) 6.5%.

Newcastle XI: Dúbravka; Willems, Dummett, Lascelles, Schär, Manquillo; Atsu, Shelvey, Hayden; Almirón, Joelinton.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Burn, Webster, Dunk, Montoya; Mooy, Stephens, Pröpper; Groß; Alzate, Maupay.

What a gameweek. Plenty food for thought. A lot to ponder with city. Which assets going forward.

Guess a backlash should have been expected at the very least.

Plenty more footy to play tommorrow. Who knows what players will enter the mix yet.

    Exciting that so many options.

And then there is Everton... What can antone say about that lit. Digne on the slide at the very least

Thank christ Lundstram is coming off the bench and vice captain Salah for tomorrow.

I am (and have done), I feel for this value I can invest the extra elsewhere. Even if Sterling outscores KDB at the end of the season I am sure KDB will be close if not ahead.

      Only question is fitness....

          You have pretty solid MF.

If it was up to me I would probably see how Auber does this GW (considering his last week perf) and with his fixtures either consider upgrading to him and or bringing in Son with his fixtures.

This season is crazy, so many performing players.

Very tricky one this. Sterling was due a rest. Aguero had his. Aguero is due the next rest. I tranferred him out for kun as I feared as much.

It didn't oay me as I took the captaincy from KDB and placed it on kun.

Kind of a weird gameweek. Sterling captainers who VC kDB have won out.

Hold for now... but too late for some

Gambler's fallacy. Just because an event occurs doesn't mean that it will or will not occur again as a result of the previous event.

The main problem here is which options are you leaving out of your team to get him? I'm not saying that he's not a good FPL asset, I don't really have an opinion on that, but surely he's a waste of a slot right now.

wouldnt sell, but the double up doesnt seem so convincing after that show. But they have good fixtures still, and my plan is/was to play both for 3/4 weeks so im giving it time.

Maybe. Not expecing great things from Norwich away from home. Pukki is still a gosl threat.

Wilson more rounded at home and away but a bit costier

CB then. Knew it was defense. Surprised his BAPs are so high.

Otamendi being subbed of for the youngster..
Is that a sign that Fernandinho is now first choice CB?

No it’s a sign of otamendi getting a rest as he is first choice whilst being like 5/6-0 up

      Wildcard time.

Kick out Sterling or Aguero, though? So difficult.

        Really?

Are you still sold in the idea there’s no value in premium forwards?

I need KDB somehow. And if I did go premium, I'd prefer Aubameyang.

Aguero is FPL royalty though and has scored in every game, so I know how great he is. But something has to give.

Sterling has not become bad overnight. Can also play striker when Kun is subbed. 5 pts for goal. People forget easily.

Surely Leicester are now a de facto top 6 club given their position and schedule. No European football is a huge plus too.

But looking at ticker there’s this bias to to 6 clubs thanked all fixtures red automatically. Arsenal defence? Since when?

As an overall package I’d have them as the match of any bar City and Liverpool - adjusting ticker accordingly

Madisson is the attack to have from Leicester. Can see many blanks from Vardy.

I see at least 20 goals - that’s his norm recently and this is a better Leicester side than usual.

I think they were serious top six contenders from the outset and woulnt rule out a charge for the top four from them.

West ham are the other top six charges and burnley may not be too fat away.

      Salah, KDB, Mount, Cantwell, Dendoncker
      Aguero, Aubameyang, Abraham
