Scoutcast Episode 302 – Rollercoaster

This rollercoaster of a season continues. There were some dramatic highs and lows in Gameweek 6 and plenty more predicted for the weeks ahead.

Those that captained the non-playing Raheem Sterling and vice-captained the hauling Kevin De Bruyne last weekend certainly experienced the ups and downs of Fantasy management.

This week’s crew of Joe, David and Az wonder whether such decisions are down to luck or skill as they look in detail at this season’s evolving captaincy tactics.

The tale of three Fantasy managers – FPL Chef, deputy editor Neale and Scoutcaster Andy – take centre stage in the Scoutcast’s Rough with the Smooth round-up. The highs and lows of playing the game could not be any starker for this trio, who saw their FPL teams hacked, removed, then eventually returned this week.

Elsewhere, patience is running thin with Everton’s Lucas Digne and the crew reveal their strategies for tackling Chelsea and Leicester’s forthcoming favourable fixture run.

A legend of FPL in recent years is Az’s latest differential pick. Considering his last selection was Norwich striker Teemu Pukki, he has set the bar high already.

Clean sheets over the next six Gameweeks, the West Ham defence, a few pots of jam and Az’s aunt, or is it uncle, also make an appearance.

Hello everyone. 3 special options for you all to help me decide. All I am probably equally happy with for now but what about you.

    A) Keep Haller + Dilva
    B) Dilva > Mount and be flexible to bring in either Sterling or Aguero come GW8
    C) Haller > Abraham and limit myself only to sterling for city premium choice

C I believe. Tammy's stats are better than Haller, and is on great form. B is fine if you believe Dilva will be rested, but he is a better player than Mount in a better team. Its all about his minutes.

Leaning on this most I think. Just annoying to not give myself the chance to get Aguero innit. Dilva for next two should be massive and of course Tammy is the best Chelsea option for sure

I did C and then removed Digne for a hit as well (which might give you an indication of much you should depend on my advice...).

    Ryan
    TAA - Soy - Zinch - Rico
    Salah - Sterling (C) - KdB - Mount
    Pukki - Haller

    Button - Dendoncker - Lundstram - Greenwood

0 FT, 2.6 ITB (Already did Digne -> Söyüncü before price fall)

    Which one?

    A) g2g
    B) Zinch -> Ota (-4)
    C) Zinch -> Aurier (-4)
    D) Zinch -> Tomori (-4)

P.S: C and D enable Greenwood -> Abraham move next week.

    Cheers.

Leicester of course. And Soy doesn't provide much attacking threat either. He is a decent defender, just not for FPL based n evidences shown so far

I honestly wouldn't judge them from the first 6 games. I think he is a decent pick from gw9, 4.6 and nailed in a tight defence so far. Also has an assist to his name already.

3 of their 6 games were against top 6 teams, 2 of them were against WOL and BOU, which are fairly good offense teams.

The stats for big chances conceded suggest otherwise. In terms of the eye test, they don't have to look amazing considering the mediocrity of other ~4.6 defenders.

If Soyuncu’s upcoming fixtures matches his last 6 fixtures then people wouldn’t be looking at him.

Could use some advise here, lads:

    Current team:
    Pope - Button
Ota - van Dijk - KWP - Mings - Lundstram
    Sterling - Mané - Mount - KdB - Cantwell
    Pukki - Kane - Greenwood

    0.1 ITB, 1 FT.

Sensible move being: KWP --> Soy, right?

Or should I look somewhere else? Not afraid of taking a hit, if the moves are right!

        Been pondering Tomori as well.
It would actually allow me to do KWP + Pukki --> Tomori & Abraham. For a hit though, but still a good move.

Ok, so decided to trigger my wildcard, would appreciate feedback on my wildcard team.

    Pope / 4.0
    TAA, Tomori, Soyuncu, (lundestrum, Rico)
    Sterling, KDB, Son, Mount (Cantwell)
    Auba, Abraham, Pukki

    0.0 ITB

Next week TAA to Otamendi. Risky going no Salah, so could ditch Son, TAA and Cantwell for Salah and 2 4.5s or ditch Auba but like his fixtures (and Son for next 3).

    Thoughts?

I think you trust yourself and go with that good team.

Otherwise if you doubt yourself consider other factors:

      What’s current points and rank?

What your goal for say gw12?

Are you chasing and want a gamble?
Are you wanting to keep up and play safe?
Are you ahead and want to remain that way?
How many risks would you take?

Trust your instincts and may the force and points be with you.

Had a horrific week 5 (dropped 2 million places)
Pulled it back able bit last week (rose 1 million places)

At this stage I'm not looking to be different, I play to hope to get the most points possible and wanted to set my team up to ensure I had the value picks and some big guns for Chelsea, arsenal and spurs (short term).

Basically the team I wildcarded to last week, so I like it 🙂

I went with Otamendi and Digne over TAA and Tomori though.

Apart from the Sheff Utd game, I wouldn’t be capping a Liverpool player over Auba or Son or the City boys over the next few. Risky, but a sound reason for ditching.

I WC'd last week and have the same but KDB and Mount out for Mane and Cantwell (starting) with 4.4 backup mid.
      Plus Mings over Tomori.
My only comment is triple chelsea is a bit much for my liking, even with good fixtures.

    ADVANCE NOTICE

if RAHEEM STERLING plays for England in both Prague and Sofia in October be aware he will be an unused sub in one of these:
GW9 away v Palace or more likely home v Villa or home v Southampton in gameweeks 10 or 11.

However keep him, and if you captain him, have a good vice captain and 1st sub.

Easy, now sit back and enjoy his hauls over next few weeks when he does play and focus on other areas of your team.

May I add, I own Kev and Kun and have not owned Raz in 2019. But just don’t get all the jumping off Raz.

Many jumped of a decreasing value player in Bernardo Silva and he rattled 29 points in 3 games.

Be patient, keep the faith and you will be rewarded and I will be jealous of all sterling’s points and wondering why I gave this super recommendation yet missed out.

Double headers for England in Oct 2018, March 2019 and September 2019, have all resulted in a bench spot for 90 mins and expect same in October 2019 if Southgate plays him twice.
Maybe Southgate gives him 90mins off??

Personally I think there is a higher ceiling for both Kane and Abraham this weekend, but both of their respective teams are a bit inconsistent, which makes it a tricky decision.

... meant to add I wouldn't remove Aguero tho, I just think there are better options for the captaincy this week.

Depends who rest of your defence is ......I've got TAA Ota,Aurier and Soyuncu (home to Newcastle) so he'll be second on my bench after Cantwell.

Was set on using my FT on James -> Madders and then do Haller -> Tammy next week but with injury news around Maddison would you:

    A) do Haller -> Tammy tonight before price rise
    B) hold off until Friday press conferences, possibly do the Maddison move if positive news comes out otherwise Haller -> Tammy on Friday

Wait till after this weekend. Salah has a good fixture. Sterling hasn't performed and his value has dropped so if fortunes reverse this weekend then its an easy change for you to do.
