The FPL line-up lessons we learned from Gameweek 6

We take our regular look back at the Premier League line-ups from the weekend just gone, analysing the systems and personnel used by the 20 top-flight clubs and seeing what lessons could be learned ahead of Gameweek 7.

As was the case last week, we are harnessing the use of the average position maps in our Members’ Area and highlighting some of the key stats from each game.

The figures in brackets given after each player name in the article below correspond to the numbered shirts in the position maps.

Members can read on for further analysis, while those wishing to subscribe can still do so by clicking here – memberships cost the equivalent of £2.19 a month for the remainder of 2019/20 and a video of the benefits can be accessed here.

One last times before price changes. Pull the trigger on A?

    Pope
    Tomori Soyuncu Rico
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell

Am I crazy for wanting to do these changes on a wildcard right now? Or should I just hold it for later. Current team:

    Pope/(4.5)
    Robertson/Otamendi/Mina/Soyuncu/Lundstram
    Salah/Sterling/De Bruyne/Mount/McGinn
    C.Wilson/Pukki/Greenwood

    Changes:
    Mina > Tomori
    Robertson > TAA
    Sterling > Son
    Wilson > Aubameyang

    Ryan
    TAA Otamendi Soyuncu
    Sterling Salah kdb mount cantwell
    Pukki abraham

    Button Digne Greenwood Lundstram

    -4 0.2 ITB

Took a -4 for Barnes and James to mount and Abraham. Digne out for for alonso was tempting but I think I would rather own digne instead of James and Barnes atm.

    Am I gtg?

There’s certainly merit in keeping him. One thing I’ve noticed is whoever lines up at left striker on team sheet for burnley seem to perform better than the right striker. Don’t know if this applies in game but seeing Barnes left striker more recently made me more confident to sell for tammy

        A) I think Sterling or Aguero is needed (as mentioned already) but i don't like only having TAA & Otamendi. I'd want a decent 5.5+ DEF in there too.

        1. mazkills
          • 6 Years
          4 years, 6 months ago

TAA and Ota not enough quality on a back line? Kinda crazy. There are heaps of quality, rotatable 4.5's to lock down that 3rd (and even 4th spot). Sounds like you are biased towards PVA.

        So the differentials are:

        A)
        Cantwell-James-Aguero

        B)
        Dunk-Abraham-Kane/Auba

I'm leaning towards B) right now, but to come with a more accurate answer I would need your bench aswell and if you have used your WC.

From team A) I like Cantwell. He needs to be in most of the teams in my opinion. He used to be 4.5 and was clearly the best option at his pricerange compared to defender, midfielders and attackers. That makes him very unique. Also with the pricerises that follows to it goods for your teamvalue for the second half of the season.

        I dont like James.

Aguero if he was 100% nailed he would have been a must have. For me right now its more "wait and see" player because Jesus is back. Also he is not a clear best captain option before gmw 10 and even then we might have Sterling back in form. The point is his not that valuable yet.

From team B. Dunk feels like more of a whatever pick. Not bad or not good. Pretty neutral.
Abraham is very good to have. He can easily become a seasonkeeper so in the future if you have bought him for 1m less than your opponnent you will have a big disadvantage here.
Kane/Auba got good fixtures coming up totally okey to have them and they can keep up with Aguero who cost 1.2m more when it comes to PPM.

Who do you think is the best 6.6 and under forward for the next 2-3 GWs?

I'm currently thinking Barnes or Wood based on fixtures and then having a punt on Maupay GW9-11

Or play a 352 instead and upgrade Dendocker > McGinn or Cantwell

High risk high reward for Digne so depends on the player you are.

Can see him putting on into the top bins. But can also see him getting negative score.

Candidly, no salah, no sterling and no KDB would scare the heck out of me. Personally, I think its hard to have two premium strikers with the talent available at midfield. Sure Kun and Auba are the best in class, but it’s definitely high risk possibly high reward.

Two completely opposite answers. This is a tough one indeed. Although i feel Digne has at least some chance of an attacking return

          ABC

          A) Got higher probability of getting an attacking return

B/C is close so when the edges are small I prefer to go for the player with highest teams selected by. Lundstram is way more picked so you decrease the variance by playing him if others also have to do that. This is only if you think you are better than the average player. Otherwise you should do the opposite and go for more coincidence

B for sure. I know Jota finally had a return last week, but wolves (and Jota) are way off the boil.

        Like it.
        For free or a hit?
I would probably do it for a hit.

      Heaton
      Pieters - Tomori - VVD
      Cantwell - Son - KDB - Sterling - Mane
      Pukki - Barnes

1FT & £2.4m ITB. Thoughts? Last roll of the dice for Barnes or > to Tammy? Will Mane be fit? Could downgrade either Sterling or KDB to Barnes > Auba/Kane for -4?

Can't sleep and prolly overthinking lol. Taaa.

        Make the Tammy move.
Mane should be fine assistant coach said so.
If you are thinking of removing KDB or even Sterling I think you definitely need sleep 🙂
Make the simple move and don't overthink it.

      Which option is better:

      A) Digne to Otamendi

      B) Digne to Soy (use cash saved to do VVD to TAA)

        Really hard call.
        I am not sure.
Maybe just B due to how much TAA can hurt now owners but VVD's time will come too.

Which one would you play this week out of:

      Soyuncu
      Greenwood
      Cellabos

Currently on Soy but could make a case for any of them so appreciate any thoughts.

Soyuncu because of Newcastle. If it were any other team I’d say Greenwood.

Abraham second in the Captain Poll....
I feel Kun, Sterling, KDB, Salah, Mane, Son, Kane and maybe even Vardy are all better options than Tammy!
Perhaps its just my non-owner bias 🙂

Plum home fixture, fiery form and attacking team on the back of a 7-1 victory.

          Son (c) Tammy (vc) here

A from your list. But tbh that’s a good team and I would just use one to get rid of Ryan. You’ll have 2 frees and extra funds next gw.

Team I could get to in 3-4 moves but would be priced out of some soon.
      I really like it as a 352.
What ye think? Is it very template?

      Pope

      TAA Tomori Soyuncu

      Sterling KDB Mane Son Mount

      Abraham Pukki

      McGovern Lundstram Rico Greenwood

Yes very template but it’ll do. I think Rico isn’t a guaranteed starter with the regular guy starting in the cup match. Tomori could be a good shout. Looks good.

There's really small moves like Heaton to Pope and Kelly to Rico
But the 3 main moves would be

          Haller Cantwell and Otamendi
          To Greenwood Mount and TAA?
Make them over two weeks for a hit?
