The FPL line-up lessons we learned from Gameweek 6

We take our regular look back at the Premier League line-ups from the weekend just gone, analysing the systems and personnel used by the 20 top-flight clubs and seeing what lessons could be learned ahead of Gameweek 7.

As was the case last week, we are harnessing the use of the average position maps in our Members’ Area and highlighting some of the key stats from each game.

The figures in brackets given after each player name in the article below correspond to the numbered shirts in the position maps.

Members can read on for further analysis, while those wishing to subscribe can still do so by clicking here – memberships cost the equivalent of £2.19 a month for the remainder of 2019/20 and a video of the benefits can be accessed here.

          Oh, it’s a WC??
          I’m not too sure then
          Is Mané fit?
          I wouldn’t go McGinn for 4th mid ever. He’s only a 5th mid.

          Defence needs upgrading.

Personally. I’d keep away from Son and Spurs in general

    Bottomed:

Is Alonso worth a 2 week punt?

Thinking of downgrading Digne to upgrade cantwell to Maddison after liverpool. But for now happy to have Alonso for the next two weeks

I’m thinking along similar lines too in regards to Cantwell to Maddison after he Liverpool game.
I’d be tempted to keep Digne though. He’s still on set pieces and will score
I’m still not convinced on Chelsea’s CS potential

I do agree although Everton only have 1 good home fixture in the next 5. They play brighton and burnley away which are not easy places to go.

If you have Mount then go Wilson I say. Many are going double up on Tammy and Mount. Wilson hauls and Tammy doesn't = climb the ranks.

It could backfire but you have to think out of the box.

      1. Whats the Huth
        • 8 Years

The double up is a no brainer imo. At their prices and form especially

Wilson wasn’t very lucky to score last weekend.

Chelsea as a team is far more attacking. And Abraham will get far more opportunities to Score

Long term Wilson probably. His fantasy stats last year were good. Think he'll produce similar stats this year. Short term Abrahams with chelsea's nice run of fixtures.

I understand your cantwell away reservations. It’s probably a 2 vs 1 pointer to be honest, though. I’d play Cantwell but if you have a good feeling on greenwood go for it, not much risked.

Apologies for the wrong sport but thought maybe there would be some opinions here. Which two would you want in this round of fantasy rugby world cup.

Yeah at least they all play Saturday. Yeah it's Haller or Pukki for the chop but remain open to keeping both until Pool fixtures turn a bit. Pukki nearly 50% ownership could hurt more than TAA about 25%

Not this week but yes Pukki Haller and Kelly are the only ones on the possible out list.
Son doesn't even need Spurs to be playing well and that Sou defence was very poor against BOU.
I captained Sterling the last 3 weeks but got KDB VC last week so can't complain too much if he hauls this week and I ain't got the C on. Might go VC on Sterling over Abraham.

    Come to the realisation.
The folks selling Sterling are the folks who has been unlucky to captain him over the last 4 weeks and getting low scores.
So understandably, they’re blaming their captain.
My suggestion is to hold, Sterling will probably haul this week

    GL everyone

I did a few dummy teams removing him, but couldn’t bring myself to follow through with it.

It may not be this week, it may not be next week, but in the next few gws I can see Sterling blowing up and the complaining from sellers will begin. Enough quality to just hold him and let him have a few blanks. Captaincy he may have to earn again though.

Hold and maybe Heaton/Tark to Button/Otamendi next week? Could also consider one of Montaya/Ward to Tomori?

Thanks, the Pope/Heaton combo has worked well so far so I’m reluctant to go down the one keeper route.

There is foundation to my looking at a big hitter downgrade. As an example if I go B, it allows me to upgrade Barnes to Tammy and also gives me circa 1m to upgrade Cantwell or Hayden or Ward/Montoya to Otamendi

How nailed do you think Tomori is for Chelsea defence? Could be nice value pick over Soyoncu if he can nail down the starting spot.

Looks pretty solid but don’t think even Lampard is absolutely certain of his first choice CB pairing with Rudiger and Christensen in the mix

Yes strrling has let me down but I want to get son and especially vardy in a few weeks which means inhave to be rid of either sterling or salah.

Arguably Salah has not been great but klopp rarely gives him much rest and his on Set pieces which makes me want to get rid of Sterling to enable me to get son and prepare for vardy in a couple of week.

Just a shame they went up yesterday!!!

Actually both Soyuncu and Tomori seem like good cheap gambles to me especially when you factor in fixtures
Question remains can Che get a CS even with the nice fixtures but at 4.5 it's good enough for me.

On my WC, whose the best 4.5-5.0 defender to own and start on a regular basis? Currently on Soyuncu but also cosidering the following:

    A) Soyuncu
    B) Aurier
    C) Diop

    * Pope is my goalkeeper and I don't fancy a double up

    Sitting about 150k.
Bored with the game due to C picks being lucky and 70% of the game.
I am going to do 2 things now:
Make at least 12 different teams choices when choosing players.
Going for differentials without being stupid about it.

I would not mind if we are not making calculated choices, but we are. I got punished for choosing Kun last week. I missed out on Lundstrum when others subbed a captain for him (Sterling) and the vice was KDB because they could not afford Kun. Now tell me that is fair. 30 point penalty for choosing well.
