Injured Maddison misses out as Perez starts against his old club

The only Gameweek 7 match to take place this Sunday kicks off at 16:30 BST, as Leicester City welcome Newcastle United to the King Power Stadium.

The headline team news surrounds the unavailability of James Maddison (£7.1m), who misses out with the ankle knock that he picked up against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Brendan Rodgers said ahead of kick-off:

We wanted to give him every chance but it was always going to be unlikely that he could [play]. But he’s back working now and hopefully next week he’ll be fine.

Maddison is the only player on either side who is currently owned by more than 10% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Dennis Praet (£5.3m) fills in for his sidelined teammate and makes only his second Premier League start since his summer move from Sampdoria.

Other than that enforced change, Leicester City are otherwise unchanged from the side that defeated Spurs.

That means that Ayoze Perez (£6.0m), who is yet to register an attacking return in 2019/20, gets a start against his old club.

Perez scored the only goal of the game in this corresponding fixture last season, while still on Newcastle’s books.

Steve Bruce has made three changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Brighton, one of which sees Sean Longstaff (£5.0m) replace the injured Jonjo Shelvey (£5.0m) in midfield.

Sweden international Emil Krafth (£4.5m) replaces Javier Manquillo (£4.4m) in a like-for-like swap at right-back, while Yoshinori Muto (£5.3m) gets his first start of the season at the expense of Jetro Willems (£4.5m) – which means a system change to a back four for the Magpies.

Bruce said before the game:

Jetro [Willems] picked up an injury in the week with his knee and with Matt Ritchie being out too, we haven’t got anybody natural in that left wing-back position.

Andy Carroll (£5.4m) is once again on the bench, along with Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.4m).

Isaac Hayden (£4.5m) is the most-owned Newcastle asset on show but has been benched by over 75% of his owners, which perhaps says all there is to know about the Fantasy community’s faith in the Magpies.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) has been handed the armband by 78,089 FPL managers in Gameweek 7.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel; Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Chilwell; Ndidi, Tielemans, Praet; Barnes, Perez, Vardy.

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka; Krafth, Schar, Lascelles, Dummett; Atsu, Hayden, Longstaff Almiron; Muto, Joelinton.

I don't care if it was only Newcastle, or if they had a red card, we did that all without our most creative player! What a boost. Liverpool should watch out...

I think we played you at the right time given that it's early days under Lampard. You were really good in the second half. Think Leicester more able to keep us out for 90 mins in this moment of time.

Normally, no. If the player has a red card suspension and I need a playing bench player, maybe. Only if there is double FT and happy with the XI is when I might consider just for the funds. Which could happen 1 GW after WC but otherwise not likely.

Newcastle increasingly look like a caricature of a club:
    - Much-hated Cockney Mike Ashley chairman
    - Amazingly loyal supporters
    - Hapless manager Steve Bruce looking like the other guy in an affair.

The smallest big club in the world.

Definitely saving my transfer this week. Next week is gonna be very interesting.

Salah out looks very tempting. And I'm starting to come around to taking the risk on Mahrez. The funds he saves are pretty insane.

Salah is still the third highest scorer. He has these same periods last year then goes on insane runs. Great if you can predict those obviously.

But playing 3 top 6 teams in 4 weeks in his current form is very unappealing.

Last year, if you ignore Arsenal (h), Salah blanked against all the top 6 except Chelsea where he scored once and got 8 points.

He's actually quite reliably bad against top 6 so to hold for this particular stretch of games seems like a bad idea.

      I’m thinking same.

No LEI for me yet but I want some of their players post-LIV. Also eyeing Son/Auba.

Barnes causing headaches still and Salah/Sterling kinda unconvincing but could pay to save. I do still have WC though, do you?

I have been playing for 12 years I think and this year is mind numbing. Totally average scores every week.
Ticking along nicely I just need one really good exciting week but it's just not happening. Well it's probably more frustrating than boring otherwise I would have kicked in to the kerb by now.

I have had Vardy from the start, and you have to have the mentality to ride the rough weeks with the smooth with him I think. Can you score you 2 or 3 in one game and then nothing in the next...whereas Aubameyang tends to deliver something every week.

And then if you invest the £1m saved wisely it could work out well...

I've got 2 FTs. Any guidance on priorities?

    Ederson, Button
Coleman, Otamendi, van Dijk, Lundstram, Dunk
Mane, Sterling, Yarmolenko, Douglas Luiz, Ceballos
    Vardy, Abraham, Pukki.

Thinking Dunk+Luiz . Soyuncu+McGinn. But would have to be for -4, and Leicester have Liverpool away, but only have exact money and price changes mean would have to do it early this week.

      • 5 Years

I'd wildcard for the following reasons:

VVD (especially with the fixtures), Coleman, Dunk, Ederson (blocks you from 2nd City attacker), D Luiz, Ceballos

That's 6 places to improve (-16 with hits). Maybe Button to McGovern just for the fun of it (price could rise) as well

      1. Planet Jo
        • 11 Years

        Thanks, but...

I'm keeping 2 nailed-on premium defenders and VVD seems as good as any, especially as he's cheaper than TAA or Robbo.

In my overall position, I don't want the Template.

Ederson is nailed on, and my second keeper is a reserve keeper and doesn't play. I can't trade Emerson for another Man C attacking asset without shuffling a few other positions and getting a decent keeper, and...

I've already played my wild card!

I have a similar ish team, the only player I'm worried about for next gw is aubameyang, and to get him I'd have to lose Salah or aguero (both of which have decent enough fixtyres).

I’d hope for a boring 1-1 tbh. Non FPL players like Willock and Fred

Wouldn't read too much into that Leicester performance. Created nothing first half 11 v 11.

Was wondering this as I just saw the score. Heard about the RC and knew the floodgates would open unfortunately (future vardy owner)

Vardy is such a horrible priced forward to fit in. Just seems to totally destroy team balance

Hes cheaper than Auba etc. Surely a more balanced side with him in.

Sell Salah/Sterling/Aguero + cheap striker/mid and get Son + Vardy

    Check out my Transfer luck

    GW6 sold Kane (8)+ Wesley (7) +4 = 19 -> Tammy (2) + Pukki (2) (-4) = 0

    GW7: sold McGinn (8) + Coleman (7) +4 = 19 -> Mount (6) + TAA (6) (-4) = 8

In brackets is the points they scored plus hit. Overall im 30 points down

Both times the players I sold returned

Would you do Sterling/Haller to Mahrez/Auba for -4?

    Have Kdb and Salah

So undecided as to what to do with salah and sterling.. to move them on and upgrade elsewhere or keep and be patient

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years

Every "upgrade" I've tried with the funds made my team weaker. This is unlike selling Robbo for GW2 to get Pukki

Too many good cheap options now to bother about losing S + S

Except if you're locked out of some nice price points and badly need funds, of course

      1. danlynch13
        • 8 Years

Ya I think there’s too many different options probably best to stick with the premiums you have or else you’ll miss their points

  29. Ze_Austin

    Pope Woodman
    TAA Ota Soy Lund Kelly
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell
    Wilson Tammy Pukki

Ricardo means losing TAA directly or Ota + Soy/Cantwell (err...)
    Brought Soy in this GW
Locked out of Madders and Vardy

It's amazing how my only route to Leicester (other than Soy) from GW9 would be a wildcard to sell trusted players or in-form players who also have good fixtures X_X

    Can't have 'em all...

    What do you think?

      Salah out next week.

    Pick one:

    A) Cresswell (other WH defender)
    B) Tomori
    C) Soy
    D) Other

    1. Ze_Austin

Tomori if you need a starter. Soy if you can bench for GW8 only

Avoid West Ham defence until Fab is passed fit

Okey thanks, ye just tempted for westham cuz fixtures look amazing, playing teams that are pretty poor at scoring

B or C both very good value options, I’d try get both. Tomori if I could have just one
