FanTeam Weekly Monster tickets on offer in Champions League Fantasy

The Champions League returns this evening – and so does the world’s largest Fantasy tournament covering Europe’s footballing elite.

FanTeam‘s Champions League Fantasy tournament offers a guaranteed €100,000 prize pot, with the winner taking home €20,000.

Pay-outs extend all the way through the top 600, and there are plenty of weekly prizes on offer.

Latecomers to the game are in luck too.

FanTeam is currently offering a special bundle for new users, so late registrations will receive an additional Weekly Monster ticket worth €20.

That, in effect, means you’ll get €45 worth of value for just €25.

The advantages of joining now don’t end there either. Late registration opens up new in-game strategies, as managers can now optimise their picks across Gameweeks 2-6.

If you feel like trying out Daily Fantasy, but are not in the mood for an event that covers the entire group stage – tomorrow’s fixtures will also have two unique events to add even greater value, with FanTeam offering Early and Late games across three different buy-in options (1,10, 5,50 and 22,00) and excellent prize pools of up to 7.000€. Those can be found in the FanTeam Lobby.

FanTeam‘s Champions League event is very similar to Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

There’s the same 100m transfer budget, a 15-man squad and the standard three-player maximum from each team.

And the scoring system, with a few slight tweaks, is virtually identical, making it nice and easy to pick up and play.

Key differences only add to the experience.

Each Gameweek deadline is just ten seconds before the first kick-off, so there’s plenty of time to tweak your team after the teamsheets are announced.

And although you get two free transfers every Gameweek, you can roll them over to a maximum of four – if you’ve got the nerve and the patience.

FanTeam’s €100,000 Champions League Event runs for the six rounds of the tournament’s group stages, with €500 going to each Gameweek’s best manager and €1,000 up for grabs for the highest Gameweek score of the competition.

All that for an entry fee of just €25, with a maximum of 20 teams allowed per user.

Gameweek 2’s first matches kick off at 17.55 GMT this evening.

Here are some key players worth considering.

Aguero should start tonight’s Champions League match

In attack, Sergio Aguero (10.4m) could make hay at home to Dinamo Zagreb.

The Manchester City star was rested at the weekend, playing just 24 minutes of the 3-1 win at Everton.

So he should be very fresh to face a Zagreb side that are winless in their last 15 Champions League away matches (D2 L13), losing each of the last 12.

In midfield, Philippe Coutinho (9.0m) has the form to be the star of the show in one of Gameweek 2’s major encounters – Tottenham Hotspur v Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian has scored and assisted in back-to-back Bundesliga games and he’s always enjoyed facing Spurs, scoring three and setting up a further two in 12 appearances against the north Londoners.

At the back, Nacho (5.0m) should be a good value way into the Real Madrid defence.

He’s only in the team because of injuries to key assets on the left-hand side of Los Blancos’ backline, but he was superb in the weekend’s 0-0 draw at Atletico Madrid, both in defence and attack.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are finding some form since their disastrous 3-0 loss at PSG in Gameweek 1, and a home match against Club Brugge looks like a favourable fixture to continue that run.

    How's Maddison as an option?

Very good, wanted to buy him but waiting for injury news. The trick is will he start getting more attacking returns for fpl or Vardy is only "real" option?

I think the Leicester mids might share points with Madders coming out top among them, but they'll be outscored by Pereira/Chilwell in points-per-million and Vardy in actual points (plus captaincy)

Slide Mount + Cantwell/McGinn/Yarmo/CHO into the mix and it becomes a bit tougher to spend 7.1 on Madders. If he's the best fit for your squad, however, it's a no-brainer

Couldn't agree more. Everything you've said is true. Now it just depends how much someone is willing to risk it. Wait and see or buy him to be ahead if he starts delivering.

If only one of them got in shooting positions more often, I'd have been all over him. The nailed guys (Madders and Tielemans) are creators while the non-Vardy shooters in the box rotate like crazy. I had high hopes for Perez as a member of the second group... But here we are 🙁

They can be great assets, time will tell. But for now if I was on WC would only consider Vardy/Pereira (maybe both) and Soy because of that price. Mads/Tielemans just need to start be more concrete

Looks like KDB is taking the Cantwell/McGinn decision out of mt hands for this weekend, just need to decide on Diop vs Tomori now!

Hope you're aware that Fab is out for 2+ months and West Ham would have to play with a worse keeper than Adrian (who I don't consider bad though, just average)

Sadly I am, if Fab was fit I would definitely have played Diop. Leaning towards Tomori now.

I'm a doc, but not sure what you'd like insight on here

The professionals who examined and are treating him said they have no clue. Without giving any details on the groin injury itself, they've effectively masked when he could be back.

WC used last week, could’ve been better could’ve been worse. Plan is to hold transfer for one week and then have 2ft during IB (maybe even -4). Just hope KdB will make it and double Norwich want become an issue already (will monitor closely game against AV).

I would have sterling/Mahrez over salah for the next 4 if I was on wc. In fact Mahrez sterling and kdb triple up would be nice. Taa over vvd if possible. Maybe Mcginn over Yarmolenko.

Keeping KDB is a bit of a risk as thats a lot of money benched. Martial owners were in a similar situation before the last IB and holders have been punished massively.

Literally 0.1 difference because he will guaranteed drop over the IB if he doesnt play against Wolves.

More of a risk to transfer him out for the sake of 1 gw. Cantwell and Lundstram are decent cover for a week. If confirmed out for longer term then will consider Mahrez

we simply don't know when he is back and when he will play a full game
no need to rush it for city squad as they got great replacements

    5. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

      Some context needed here

Those who kept Martial for just one GW didn't make a mistake. It was said to be a minor injury and they actually said he had a chance of playing the next game. See what happened with Rashford, for instance.

I agree there's a fine line between patience and stubbornness, but City has been quite clear with their injury estimations for a while now (except that Mendy bone bruise that bruised my season), so I think we can trust them for some more definitive news before GW9

    6. Bram
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 14 Years

Unless it's longterm I'll certainly not be selling him. 18 days from gw9 nothing yet to suggest he'll miss that (nothing yet to say he'll even miss this gw that I've seen).

My "inspired" move to bring in Aurier last week, like many, hasn't helped but I still have Cantwell can play if KDB misses this with Lunds covering Aurier which again I imagine is common for many.

PS I did sell Martial though but OGS seemed very cagey / none committal about when he'd be back so that was a bit different.

Im on the fence right now. Keeping could make sense but for me its at most 0.1 loss in price and if that means I can get another City asset instead for the Wolves games I think its worth the transfer.
