Should FPL managers own Salah or Mané for upcoming fixtures?

Eight Gameweeks into the 2019/20 season and Sadio Mané (£11.7m) has scored more points than Mohamed Salah (£12.5m).

The Senegalese international has 57 to his name, coming from five goals and two assists.

Meanwhile, his Egyptian colleague, still the most expensive Fantasy asset, has found the net just four times on top of his three assists.

That has made for a total score of 55, two short of his cheaper colleague.

That difference of £0.8m in price between the two players exacerbates the concern Fantasy managers have right now.

According to the official FPL website, Mané is offering a season value of 4.9, compared to Salah’s 4.4.

Thus far, those who spent the best part of an extra £1.0m on the Egyptian international have not got what they paid for compared to those who went with Mané.

With the second international break coming at an ideal time, it means we can assess how the two assets have played so far this season and work out which of them will prove the better option moving forward.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

How do they compare for goal threat this season?

Ideally Vardy, Soyuncu & Madison if u want Leicester triple. I don't think Schmeichel is great value when you can get Soyuncu cheaper.

Cannot agree for sure Perriera 40 points Maddi 34 playing 100 less minutes. Maddi 1 mil more expensive. I am not saying it will continue like this.

    Bottomed:
Early captaincy thoughts? Not going to own the seemily popular Wilson, Vardy and Tammy (c) options.

    A) Raz (cry)
    B) Auba (shu)
    C) Mane (mun)

Currently on Raz with KDB (vc) and Lundy first on bench 😀

I have said my prediction that once we beat Man U and Spurs in those consecutive games, Ole and Poch will get sacked. That way we would have had 2 Man U manager scalps in consecutive seasons 😀

My intention isn’t to be drawn into a debate or call you out but what is ‘absoute nonsense’ was that you were categorically stating it was his last game. I’m an Evertonian not a Manc but just get bored reading sweeping statements in the media and on these forums from people who don’t really understand football. At least they are just trying to sell papers. I won’t call you out on it if he doesn’t get sacked or respond if he does as to be honest I was wrong to say stop for the benefit of everyone else as nobody else cares about our squabble 😀

I get the point, but the risk of picking the wrong one from 3 is too high. I got Auba in for a hit last game week and put the armband on him, looked great for a haul vs BOU, just like these 3 look this week...and he got his first blank. So a bit hit averse for now.

Christina, I know your opinion on Salah, but I wonder if there was a choice between going with either Salah + Mane or Sterling + Mane, which option do people reckon scores more? Put the eggs in 2 baskets or rely on the regular starters and (arguably) the better team in the league at the moment?

"1) Invest your money on midfielders and strikers. Expensive goalkeepers and defenders are a waste.
            2) Get off to a strong start and use your bonuses early - it means you won't lose interest and gets points on the board.
            3) Keep an eye on big teams with good players under performing. "I'm looking at Spurs now, they can't get any worse and have Watford coming up."
            4) Steer away from Manchester City. "You never know who the manager is going to pick".
            5) Trust your eyes and hope for luck."

He will finish somewhere around 1k for sure. Maybe top 500. Or even better, top 100

Having a good start is absolutely true

Oh, by all means he probably will. Not arguing at all that having a good start is important. I've had a terrible start and don't even have hopes of finishing in top 500K. I should maybe look into using the TC and BB chips no longer on DGWs. It never works as well as I want it to...

                    You can't be this sure.

Maybe his TC was a success and the people below him will fail in their TC chip ( remember sane?) .

The chasers might have a failed bb too.

Interesting that GW20 (28 Dec) fixtures repeat so early in reverse in GW24 (21 Jan).

Last weeks fixtures (GW8) repeat in GW19.

So Wolves for example will have played Man City home and away before they have even faced Liverpool at all.

Who’d you take in their prime FPL wise, Alonso or Baines? Just having a look through Baines old stats on Transfermarkt out of curiosity, he had 5G 10A in one season, and another with 1G 9A, you’d be happy with this from a low priced midfielder, throw in clean sheets aswell, but Alonso was a monster

    1. Shatner's Bassoon

Nothing to do with his price.

FPL decide how the system works. Expectation, previous trends, true value, adjusted value, supply and demand, future predictions, external and internal forces, market valuation, and more.

Don’t let it get you down. International break is traditionally slow and very slow first week.

I feel price falls are good way of offering a player at a discount. Kevin was discount led at 9.5, so many jumped on. Additionally chose to keep.

Perriera dark horse with as much clean sheet potential as anyone. If he is top amongst defenders with the tough games played so far and playing like TAA; I would choose him over Maddi who flatters to deceive over the last 46 games.
