The fixture schedules for Premier League sides involved in Europe

Four of the seven Premier League sides involved in European competition sit in the top half-dozen clubs of our Season Ticker over the next four Gameweeks.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves and Manchester City are the four teams in question, while Manchester United only have the visit of Liverpool to come before they too are catapulted up to the top of our Season Ticker.

Many of those clubs may be towards the forefront of Fantasy managers’ thoughts ahead of Gameweek 9, then, although ongoing involvement in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, along with participation in the Carabao Cup, leaves several FPL assets exposed to the risk of rotation.

Already we have seen Nuno Espirito Santo break last season’s habit of maintaining a settled side, with Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Conor Coady (£5.0m), Willy Boly (£5.0m) and Rui Patricio (£5.1m) the only Wolves players to avoid being benched in the first eight Gameweeks of 2019/20.

Raheem Sterling (£12.1m), Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m), Sergio Aguero (£12.2m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) have all warmed the bench at least once this season, too, as Pep Guardiola rotates his squad with frustrating regularity.

For other clubs, the effect has not quite been so pronounced: Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m), Andrew Robertson (£6.9m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) are all ever-presents in the top flight, while Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Roberto Firmino‘s (£9.6m) benchings in Gameweeks 1 and 5 were influenced by their late returns from international duty.

Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have mostly fielded second-string players and academy products in the Europa League, meanwhile.

With the fixture congestion in mind, we thought it was worth a look at the upcoming schedules for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next two months, given that all of these teams are still involved in European competition and all bar Spurs remain in the Carabao Cup.

If any of these clubs progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, they will play twice a week, every week, from now until the turn of 2020 – with the exception of the international breaks.

We have stopped at Gameweek 14 as the TV fixtures for December and beyond have yet to be announced, so there is a lot of rejigging to the Premier League calendar still to factor in.

Below is a club-by-club itinerary, with the fixtures in italics Champions League/Europa League/Carabao Cup ties.

We will look at how the respective clubs’ managers approached team selection in Gameweeks 5-8 in closer detail in a follow-up article tomorrow.

not on Wc, but I have Kun over Sterling.

      Im heading towards this...

      Heaton
      TAA Soy Lundy
      Mane KdB Mount Cantwell
      Auba Tammy Kun

      Kelly Lowton 4.5m

I chose Kun when I wildcarded a few weeks ago and I've had nothing but green arrows.

If on a WC now probably neither as I'd have Auba up front

This. If on WC now, I would not pick either. KDB is the most reliable MCity captain.

Auba or Aguero on a WC?

Leaning Aguero. He will be rested over the IB and raring to go, gets good service and has 3 favourable fixtures next. Not sure about Auba's service and now that Lacazette is back he may be pushed to the wing. Could possibly switch Aguero > Auba after the next 3 fixtures.

    What do you think?

    1. Zinc + Pukki -> Boly + Wilson (free)
    2. Zinc, Pukki, Haller -> Boly, Wilson, Vardy (-4)

If 1, still unsure on if Haller or Pukki comes out/
If 2, still unsure on Vardy or Abraham (have Mount + no Leicester attack tho)

Any thoughts would be much appreciated 🙂

No reason to take the hit imo. Just do two of the transfers. If your certain about getting both Wilson and Vardy, then I would transfer out Haller this week.

Zinc + Haller -> Boly + Wilson. Then Pukki -> Vardy next week

      1. FC Hakkebøf

Burnley way better defensively than Norwich. So Wilson should be your priority first

The thing is tho is that Son -> Salah is defo happening net GW. So if Pukki -> Vardy happened next GW it would be for a hit. I don't think Pukki -> Vardy next GW would make that much sense tbh as Pukki has MNU.

Pope -> Gazzaniga for free? Seems like Lloris will be out of the rest of 2019. Might return to training late december.

    Next 6 games

Burnley: lei, CHE, shu, WHU, wat, CRY,
Spurs: WAT, liv, eve, SHU, whu, BOU

Spurs' form is horrible. But surely they will get back to winning ways sooner rather than later. Better fixtures than Burnley. At 4.4 Gazzaniga just have to outscore similar priced GK's. The move would free up 0.2 (if Pope rises before deadline).

If you seriously have nothing else to change in the team and actually need the 0.2M for something useful, why not? Most of our teams are burning to ashes (Pukki, Son, Digne, MCity defenders, Sterling underwhelming), so we don't have time to fiddle with 4.X GK choices.

Has anyone got an enlightening ideas for this lot? I have 2 FT and 0 ITB.

    Pope
    TAA Otamendi Soyuncu
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount
    Abraham Haller Pukki

    4.0 Cantwell Lundy Kelly

Cantwell, Pukki, Haller probably the only ones I would want to sell.

When Salah hauls vs United and Mane blanks, people will go do the other move. Salah -> Mane super sideways if not on a wildcard.

I wouldnt because Ive had Mané since GW3 and he has outscored Salah since then and confident he will keep matching him at the very least. So one GW where Salah scores more wont change my mind

I'd get rid of Ederson before Otamendi because Otamendi can at least get attacking returns. Also, taking -8 is not necessarily worth it, you could take it slower over 2-3 weeks.

Jimenez is a spicy alternarive to Pukki, both at 7.1M currently. Better team around Jimenez and the fixtures are good. I like your thinking. Europa League rotation is probably the main concern.

Another spicy alternative is to downgrade Sterling to Maddison/DSilva/Martial to upgrade Jimenez to Auba. This would mean KDB differential MCity captain over Sterling/Aguero captaincy.

Norwich has so many injuries it's ridiculous. Try to follow the news how many extra guys recover during IB. It's not Pukki, it's the team around him falling physically apart.
