The fixture schedules for Premier League sides involved in Europe

Four of the seven Premier League sides involved in European competition sit in the top half-dozen clubs of our Season Ticker over the next four Gameweeks.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves and Manchester City are the four teams in question, while Manchester United only have the visit of Liverpool to come before they too are catapulted up to the top of our Season Ticker.

Many of those clubs may be towards the forefront of Fantasy managers’ thoughts ahead of Gameweek 9, then, although ongoing involvement in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, along with participation in the Carabao Cup, leaves several FPL assets exposed to the risk of rotation.

Already we have seen Nuno Espirito Santo break last season’s habit of maintaining a settled side, with Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Conor Coady (£5.0m), Willy Boly (£5.0m) and Rui Patricio (£5.1m) the only Wolves players to avoid being benched in the first eight Gameweeks of 2019/20.

Raheem Sterling (£12.1m), Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m), Sergio Aguero (£12.2m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) have all warmed the bench at least once this season, too, as Pep Guardiola rotates his squad with frustrating regularity.

For other clubs, the effect has not quite been so pronounced: Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m), Andrew Robertson (£6.9m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) are all ever-presents in the top flight, while Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Roberto Firmino‘s (£9.6m) benchings in Gameweeks 1 and 5 were influenced by their late returns from international duty.

Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have mostly fielded second-string players and academy products in the Europa League, meanwhile.

With the fixture congestion in mind, we thought it was worth a look at the upcoming schedules for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next two months, given that all of these teams are still involved in European competition and all bar Spurs remain in the Carabao Cup.

If any of these clubs progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, they will play twice a week, every week, from now until the turn of 2020 – with the exception of the international breaks.

We have stopped at Gameweek 14 as the TV fixtures for December and beyond have yet to be announced, so there is a lot of rejigging to the Premier League calendar still to factor in.

Below is a club-by-club itinerary, with the fixtures in italics Champions League/Europa League/Carabao Cup ties.

We will look at how the respective clubs’ managers approached team selection in Gameweeks 5-8 in closer detail in a follow-up article tomorrow.

    2FTs

Pukki, Salah, Son, Nakamba 》 Auba, Maddison, Mount, Bilva (-8) ?

    Would leave:

    Pope
    TAA Otamendi Söyuncu
    Sterling Bilva Maddison Mount
    Auba Abraham Wilson

    Button / Tomori / Cantwell / Lundstram

    ?

Wouldn't bring Bilva in with this charge over his head..

Looks solid except for Bilva.. do a -4, take a chance on Cantwell instead this GW.
no liverpool attack might also be an issue.

Could just do Salah & Pukki 》 Aguero/Auba & Maddison for free?

        Or

        Son 》 Mount for -4..

        Hmmm. What you think?

That's what I said. Auba, Maddison and Mount are all excellent options for the next 8 -10 GWs. So a -4 hit is very doable in this case.

Another -4(-8 total) for Bilva doesnt seem worth it at the moment. He gets fewer minutes than Mahrez

I wouldn't sell Son for a hit, I don't care what Spurs form has been like, Watford at home is a superb fixture. I'm an owner and keeping this GW unless Poch makes it clear he won't be starting him (unlikely).

Besides the fixtures, What makes Maddison a good FPL asset at the moment ?? Do stats back it up ? His gameplay ?? Last year he only had 7g 7A for around 3000 minutes of gametime.

      Not for me unless...

I think ultimately you would want these guys back in your side...If you feel good about no injuries or rotation with the rest of your squad, go for it, but almost immediately be thinking how to get them back in a few weeks

    Which move? 2.2 itb 1ft.

    a) Pukki to Vardy for free.
    b) Salah+Green to Maddison and Auba for a hit.
    c) Salah+Green+Pukki to Maddison+Vardy+Wilsom for -8.

2.2 a lot on the bench...

Not sure how long you can wait, but I'd almost consider hold, save transfer, and give Pukki one more run (If he blanks then A).

Please let me know of the 4 your opinion - 1ft and 1.1itb:

    Ryan
    VVD-Diop-Tomori (Lund-Pieters)
    Salah-Sterling-KDB-Mount (Cantwell)
    Tammy-Pukki-Haller

    1)Pukki>Wilson
2)Haller>Wilson (with intention of VVD>TAA if no injuries GW10)
3)Hold and do number 2, doing both w/ 2ft's in GW 10 (essentially giving Haller another run
4)Hold and do number 1 with a transfer to spare in GW 10

Think I'm settled (I know its template heavy).

    Pope / McGovern
    TAA / Tomori / Soy / Rico / Lund
    Mane / KdB / Maddison / Mount / Dendoncker
    Aguero / Wilson / Abraham

    0-ITB

Due to lack of cash I'll be hitting the button soon, likely tonight to be safe.

Tomori - I think Kante should help CS

For now, I decided to take the plunge with a -8 which gives me this team:

    0itb
    Heaton*
    VVD*, Soy, Rico/ Lunds
    Mané, Sterling, KDB, Mount
    Vardy, Wilson, Abraham
    (Button) (Lunds/ Rico, Cantwell, Kelly)

Plan is either to play WC later before deadline if needed or to stick with this and save WC.

My only remaining “concerns” are Heaton and VVD (i.e not having TAA) but no cash itb so beyond dropping Sterling on a WC I don’t see a solution for now.

Thoughts? Given I’m so close to a decent WC team is it worth wasting it to save 8pts and make a couple of minor tweaks?

    Thanks 🙂

    Ota & Pukki >> Tomori & C.wilsom (2FT)
    or
Salah, Ota & Pukki >> Mane, Tomori & Vardy (-4)

I have a really similar dilemma:

      A) Pereira & Auba
      B Soy/Tomori & Salah

Really stuck, but edging towards A for both of us

Cant believe I brought in dan james a few weeks back instead of mount.. will prob be biggest regret of the season if mount keeps this up.
Have tammy and CHO..just stick with what I have, or do i need mount?!

Instead of tammy or upgrade CHO? or along with them..
Sterling/salah/kdb/cho.. no room for mount, playing 3 up top

I'm currently going CHO over Mount if it helps (I also have Abraham), but all 3 wouldn't be a bad option with upcoming Chelsea fixtures

Sold him for Dendonker and that's still an improvement, allowed me to do Pukki > Wilson with cash ITB.

        Pope
        TAA Robbo Ota Soy
        Mane KDB Mount
        Aguero Wilson(c) Abraham
        Button Lundstram Geundouzi Dendonker

Seems like city assets could be a differential captain this week. I know Crystal Palace have been solid at home defensively, but it's City.

Aguero, KDB or Sterling (C) for me. Unless I take a reckless hit and do Son + Pukki -> Maddisson + Wilson (C)

They seem to bounce back instantaneously from poor performances this season too, but maybe that has just been the KDB effect

I own Wilson and Aguero and am struggling to decide who to stick the armband on. Wilson has the fixture but Aguero is Aguero.

    Front three tinkering:
    1. Vardy/Aubameyang/Abraham
    2. C. Wilson/ Vardy (or Aubameyang)/Abraham – leaving a bit more itb.

    Which option would you prefer?
