The fixture schedules for Premier League sides involved in Europe

Four of the seven Premier League sides involved in European competition sit in the top half-dozen clubs of our Season Ticker over the next four Gameweeks.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves and Manchester City are the four teams in question, while Manchester United only have the visit of Liverpool to come before they too are catapulted up to the top of our Season Ticker.

Many of those clubs may be towards the forefront of Fantasy managers’ thoughts ahead of Gameweek 9, then, although ongoing involvement in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, along with participation in the Carabao Cup, leaves several FPL assets exposed to the risk of rotation.

Already we have seen Nuno Espirito Santo break last season’s habit of maintaining a settled side, with Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Conor Coady (£5.0m), Willy Boly (£5.0m) and Rui Patricio (£5.1m) the only Wolves players to avoid being benched in the first eight Gameweeks of 2019/20.

Raheem Sterling (£12.1m), Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m), Sergio Aguero (£12.2m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) have all warmed the bench at least once this season, too, as Pep Guardiola rotates his squad with frustrating regularity.

For other clubs, the effect has not quite been so pronounced: Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m), Andrew Robertson (£6.9m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) are all ever-presents in the top flight, while Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Roberto Firmino‘s (£9.6m) benchings in Gameweeks 1 and 5 were influenced by their late returns from international duty.

Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have mostly fielded second-string players and academy products in the Europa League, meanwhile.

With the fixture congestion in mind, we thought it was worth a look at the upcoming schedules for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next two months, given that all of these teams are still involved in European competition and all bar Spurs remain in the Carabao Cup.

If any of these clubs progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, they will play twice a week, every week, from now until the turn of 2020 – with the exception of the international breaks.

We have stopped at Gameweek 14 as the TV fixtures for December and beyond have yet to be announced, so there is a lot of rejigging to the Premier League calendar still to factor in.

Below is a club-by-club itinerary, with the fixtures in italics Champions League/Europa League/Carabao Cup ties.

We will look at how the respective clubs’ managers approached team selection in Gameweeks 5-8 in closer detail in a follow-up article tomorrow.

    With wildcard...

    A) Taa, aguero/auba, c Wilson
    B) chambers (any 4.4), aguero, auba
Got soy, rico, lund, kdb and sterling in both

Thinking is liv don’t have good fixtures in next 3, so in 3 gameweeks bring taa and mane in for cheap defender and sterling/auba

I am biased but Liverpool have 8 wins from 8 games so far. I'd be keeping at least one Liv asset because you'll only want them back

I misread this a little but my point is if on WC I'd want one Liv forward & defender

Liverpool only have two bad fixtures all year, and even then they can clean against city, go A, save a transfer down the line. Wilson has amazing short term fixtures as well.

Not good fixtures next 3 - you can't be serious.
      A shite Man Utd
      Spurs in turmoil
      Villa - not a good fixture ??

        B) mane, sterling
        C) mane, auba/aguero

Got taa and kdb in any

Would these fixture changes make you change this WC team? £0.3

    Gazza/Button

    KDB/ Mane/ Mount/ Madison/ Dend
    Aguero/ Vardy/ Tammy

On WC is it worth taking Mane over Salah if it means I can also get Aubameyang? It gives me 4 premium attackers instead of 3...

Worst case scenario if Salah explodes I get him back in 2 moves by downgrading Auba to Vardy/Lacazette.

Thanks, I have read it. As expected there isn't much to choose between Salah and Mane directly, but if I get Mane the extra cash allows me to get Aubameyang too which surely mitigates the risk of Salah outscoring Mane.

Doubt there will be much in it come the end of the season

Mane looks stronger and stronger which takes away from salah

Pool seem to expose the weakness of each team, left flank, right flank so either mane profits or salah profits

    WILDCARD A:

    Pope (McGovern)
    Alexander-Arnold, PEREIRA, (Lundstram, Rico, Kelly)
    Mane, Sterling, De-Bruyne, Hudson-Odoi, CANTWELL
    AUBAMEYANG, Abraham, Connolly

    WILDCARD B:

    Pope (McGovern)
    Alexander-Arnold, TOMORI, (Lundstram, Rico, Kelly)
    Mane, Sterling, De-Bruyne, Hudson-Odoi, SALAH
    GREENWOOD, Abraham, Connolly

Essentially, it really comes down to:
    A) Pereira & Aubameyang
    B) Tomori & Salah

Lost on last page. I know it’s a bit of a read but appreciate the advice!

I took the plunge with a -8 the other night which gives me this team:

    0itb
    Heaton*
    VVD*, Soy, Rico/ Lunds
    Mané, Sterling, KDB, Mount
    Vardy, Wilson, Abraham
    (Button) (Lunds/ Rico, Cantwell, Kelly)

Plan is either to play WC later before deadline if needed or to stick with this and save WC.

My only remaining “concerns” are Heaton and VVD (i.e not having TAA) but no cash itb so beyond dropping Sterling on a WC I don’t see a solution for now.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

Thoughts on doing Son, Pukki -> Auba, Adama for free? Will give me -

    Pope
    TAA Lundstram Soy
    Mane KDB Mount Adama
    Aguero Auba Abraham

Button Cantwell Rico Pieters (0ft 0.5m itb)

Would rotate Cantwell/Adama and likely upgrade Rico to Dunk the following gw

Gazzaniga at 4.4m, trap or no?

I do not trust Spurs defence or GK after that performance.

Me either, but it would be naive to say we particularly trust any bottom 10 side's defence as is the case with most other 4.5m keepers. Lloris is second for saves I believe so the other budget options shouldn't have that advantage either.

I honestly believe it could be a gem. Surely Spurs will recover sooner or later. Otherwise they will not be in the top 6 let alone the top 8. Hard to imagine. Fixtures are pretty good. At 4.4 he just has to get the same points as Pope, Ryan etc. That should be doable.

Most overpriced player in FPL is.......Lingard (6.5m). Should be 4.5m.

    Hi guys.

My problem is Pukki. If he delivering consistenly, I think I can be top 100K at least.

Should trade or not. How he looks in last two matches??

I traded this wk for Wilson. Seems the Pukki and Norwich bubble has burst. But that's just my opinion. If he can't score at home against villa....

    Hi DZ!

Still struggling on what to do here. I want to get rid of Pukki, but there is no direct replacement I fancy. Other than perhaps King. But if I get King, it will be hard to get in Leicester quickly without taking a hit. Any suggestions?

    Pope
    TAA Soy Tomori
    Sterling KDB Son Mount
    Aguero Abraham Pukki
    _______
    Button; Lundstram Kelly Hayden*

    1 FT 0.0 ITB

    A) Pukki -> King
    B) Pope + Pukki -> Gazzaniga + Jimenez -4 (Lloris most likely out for the rest of 2019)
    C) Aguero + Pukki -> Auba + Wilson -4
    D) Sterling + Pukki -> Auba + Maddisson -4
    E) Son + Pukki -> Wilson + Maddisson -4 (switch Wilson to vardy at some point)
    F) Aguero + Pukki + Son -> Auba + Wilson + Mahrez -8 (okay now I'm just taking it too far)
    G) Save

      C) or Sterling + Pukki -> Mane + Wilson?

Not too hooked on Mane with the upcoming fixtures. Liverpool have had a bit of luck lately. I don't think they will score many goals. After the City game though, I will be all in on Liverpool!
I like C too.. but getting rid of Aguero just seems a bit harsh! Hmmm

    Button, Heaton
Digne, Robertson, van Dijk, Lundstram, Fredericks
De Bruyne, Cantwell, Son. Yarmolenko, Mount
    Aubameyang, Callum Wilson, Pukki

1 FT. Thinking of doing Pukki to King for the next couple of game weeks, but maybe just hold for a week.

McGinn owners what are you planning?
Are you keeping him with Villa’s tough looking fixtures on the horizon
He’s currently my 5th mid so I can bench and play 343 but thinking about ditching if I don’t plan to play him much

Yeh most likely keep but city liv United Chelsea over the next 6 (3 of which are away)
I also don’t have obvious replacement but will probably ditch if I use WC soon

Which move looks the best for a -4 hit?

    A) Pukki + Cantwell > C.Wilson + Maddison
    B) Auba + Cantwell > C.Wilson + KDB

Currently sit 35k overall, 2 FT and 0 ITB. Would you give Kane and Pukki one more week to come good (v Watford, Bournemouth) or make a move before GW 9?
