The fixture schedules for Premier League sides involved in Europe

Four of the seven Premier League sides involved in European competition sit in the top half-dozen clubs of our Season Ticker over the next four Gameweeks.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves and Manchester City are the four teams in question, while Manchester United only have the visit of Liverpool to come before they too are catapulted up to the top of our Season Ticker.

Many of those clubs may be towards the forefront of Fantasy managers’ thoughts ahead of Gameweek 9, then, although ongoing involvement in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, along with participation in the Carabao Cup, leaves several FPL assets exposed to the risk of rotation.

Already we have seen Nuno Espirito Santo break last season’s habit of maintaining a settled side, with Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Conor Coady (£5.0m), Willy Boly (£5.0m) and Rui Patricio (£5.1m) the only Wolves players to avoid being benched in the first eight Gameweeks of 2019/20.

Raheem Sterling (£12.1m), Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m), Sergio Aguero (£12.2m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) have all warmed the bench at least once this season, too, as Pep Guardiola rotates his squad with frustrating regularity.

For other clubs, the effect has not quite been so pronounced: Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m), Andrew Robertson (£6.9m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) are all ever-presents in the top flight, while Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Roberto Firmino‘s (£9.6m) benchings in Gameweeks 1 and 5 were influenced by their late returns from international duty.

Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have mostly fielded second-string players and academy products in the Europa League, meanwhile.

With the fixture congestion in mind, we thought it was worth a look at the upcoming schedules for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next two months, given that all of these teams are still involved in European competition and all bar Spurs remain in the Carabao Cup.

If any of these clubs progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, they will play twice a week, every week, from now until the turn of 2020 – with the exception of the international breaks.

We have stopped at Gameweek 14 as the TV fixtures for December and beyond have yet to be announced, so there is a lot of rejigging to the Premier League calendar still to factor in.

Below is a club-by-club itinerary, with the fixtures in italics Champions League/Europa League/Carabao Cup ties.

We will look at how the respective clubs’ managers approached team selection in Gameweeks 5-8 in closer detail in a follow-up article tomorrow.

    Mane/Mount/Yarmolenko/Sterling/Maddison
    Auba/Tammmy

    Sterling out for KDB ?
and then -4 for Mane to Salah if he recovers ?

Why would you take a hit to swap Mane for Salah? It doesn't make sense - is Mane injured?

Sterling is about a million more than KDB.. i will then have the extra funds to upgrade to Salah

Sterling and Mane V KdB and Salah. Tough one, I slightly prefer the second but it's lineball

Yeah it is tough to call and a little sideways perhaps.

But it definitely does not make sense to a take a hit - just wait a week. Taking a hit means you think Salah will score at least four points more than Mane away at United.

I think you need to downgrade somewhere in the coming weeks and spread the funds. Son out after this week seems the obvious one. I'm not sold on Tielemans either (Vardy or Maddison are the better options, both in general and relative to price). 3 City attack seems a little mad too - I'd try to move a Liverpool attacker in at some point soon.

Good suggestions, Son downgrade will free up funds for Maddison and Vardy. Hmmm

Rp. Thoughts on doing Son, Pukki -> Auba, Adama for free? Will give me -

    Pope
    TAA Lundstram Soy
    Mane KDB Mount Adama
    Aguero Auba Abraham

Button Cantwell Rico Pieters (0ft 0.5m itb)

Would rotate Cantwell/Adama and likely upgrade Rico to Dunk the following gw

    1. FC Hakkebøf
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

I would consider keeping Son + Pukki for this gameweek. Adama could be a bit kneejerky. If I were you, I would spend a FT on Button -> McGovern, Or freeing up cash by doing Cantwell -> 4.4

    2. FC Hakkebøf

    Tammy-Pukki-Haller

1ft and just enough to ditch Pukki for CWilson...hesitant a little even though CWilson is a beast.

Should I look at it more in the light of Pukki>Wilson and then if Pukki punishes me, consider Haller>Pukki the next gameweek (especially on Haller blank)?

Mane was the main reason for green arrows last GW.
Understandable that there's a decent change.
Each about 230K difference in ownership this GW, in for Mane, out for Salah.
In the top 50, 34 owned Mane, 22 Salah.

pva will get more points than city attackers so why would you not play him? Sorry, on a more serious note that is difficult. I think Rico home to Bou is good for cs actually, and he is on set pieces. I think Palace will make it hard for City though and Palace, believe it or not have faster and more pacy players in their midfield/attack than City will have in their defense/central midfield. PVA is one of them and could be great on counters. Then again, City often scores within fist 10 minutes and if they do then your joy is over before it´s even begun.

    Hi all,
    This is my team.

    Ryan
    Trent, Pereira, Pieters
    Sterling, KDB, Mount, Cantwell
    Kun, Abraham, CheelSon.

    Pope, Guendozi, Kelly, Lunny.

    What should I change guys?

Sterling to MaddySon... Mad and crazy enough?

Sterling + Kun + KDB is putting a lot of eggs and budget into a single MCity basket. Downgrade options:

Midfield - Maddison (template), DSilva (large casual ownership, has been great for the price tag), Martial (risky differential)

Forward - Auba (template), Vardy (differential), Haller (great player but tough to compete vs CWilson and Abraham in the same price range) or Jimenez (risky differential)

Don't change anything, just come up with the plan to shift cash around and get in Pool assets for/after Pool-City match.

the could buy back says to me no, because reason is Arsenals fixture are great after BOU´s next two and then you want him back, which means 4 points, and cap can do you some good but it also takes away a cap you would have played if you did´nt do this move.

    Am I G2G for GW9 lads?

    Heaton*
    VVD, Ota, Rico
    Salah*, Stirling, Mount, Cantwell
    Tammy, Vardy, Auba

    Pope, Lunds, Doug Luiz, Kelly

Twitter says that Heaton will be ok for the BHA game so happy to play him over Pope.

Just stuck on the Captain armband.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, leaning towards B myself. Kane will be hard to let go but I am not comfortable with Dendoncker as my 5th mid and Cantwell playing every week. Yarmolenko should help with that.
