Which of Leicester’s FPL assets appeal for their favourable fixture run?

Having been bottom of our Season Ticker for fixture difficulty over the first eight Gameweeks of the season, Leicester City are about to embark on much more favourable run of matches.

Over their next nine games, the Foxes meet only one ‘big six’ team (Arsenal), play two newly promoted clubs and face five of the sides that finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table in 2018/19.

Five of Leicester’s next nine fixtures are at home, too.

As a result, Brendan Rodgers’ side sits top of our Season Ticker between Gameweeks 9 and 17.

Interest from the Fantasy community in Leicester’s assets is hotting up ahead of this appealing sequence of games.

Ricardo Pereira (£6.2m) is currently the most-bought Fantasy Premier League defender of Gameweek 9, while James Maddison (£7.2m) and Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) are the third-most-transferred in players in their respective positions, too.

The Foxes currently sit fourth in the Premier League table despite facing the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United (insert your own jokes here about the fall from graces of some of these once-great sides) in the opening two months of 2019/20, so interest from an FPL perspective is clearly merited based on recent results alone.

What do the underlying statistics say about Leicester assets, though? We delve into the numbers in our latest Members article below.

My only thought really is that I cannot see United scoring or not conceding at least twice. Honestly think a Liverpool defender could be the best (C)

Newcastle have conceded 11 in last 4 away or 8 in last three aways.

Yes, fair observation. Though spurs is one of those flash in the pan things where a team catches another team right in the thick of them being an utter shambles. I think that's less representative if what to expect on the road, especially given they have free scoring Chelsea

    Happy Monday folks

Just looking for some feedback on the below crop

    1FT 1.3m ITB

    Pope Button
    TAA Otamendi Soyuncu Rico Lundstram
    Salah Sterling Mahrez Mount Cantwell
    Pukki Haller Barnes

Unfortunately I did KDB to Mahrez last week so unless KDB drops by 0.1m then i need to free up more funds to get him back? Happy to roll with Mahrez for the time being.

Thoughts on Barnes --> Abraham (c) sound like a good plan?

Can't see it. Vardy doesn't do well in tight spaces where he has to create the space to take a shot.

Might better against teams that don't sit back like Burnley do. Thats why he has always been so good against the "Big 6"

            • 4 Years

Agree, plus Lei has a great criative mid, but they all tend to play through the centre, there is little width and verticality with that set of players, and that does not favour Vardy

            1. Murder On Zidanesfloor
              • 5 Years

If I'm honest, There's a part of this that I don't understand (verticality) and a part of it that I think isn't true because the width comes from their fullbacks.

Vardy strength lies in running behind into space, if teams sit back and defend, he tends to struggle to score.

Leicester´s full backs are not Liverpool´s, Ricardo is a bit more attacking minded but still... Verticality is the ability a team has to strech the game forward really quick, usually using the flanks. Leicester has great criativity in Maddison, Tielemans, Perez but they all have their natural habitat in centre midfield. The only player whose natural hability is to look for and play the line is Barnes and its no coincidence that he always comes in when the team cannot break properly An example of this was the game vs Wolves. Nuno is an expert on shutting down the verticality, just look what they did to City, possible the best "vertical" team in the league, and in that game vs Lei Vardy had ZERO shots on goal. And thats no coincidence either.

well it seems to have changed a bit in pattern this year. vardy has golas vs teams that sit back as you say.
That said, Burnley is a lot better and tighter than people might perceive when they look at fixture ticker, 1-0 or 2-1, even a 0-0. Apart from city and liverpool i would not captain a player against burnley, exception is auba who has a track record vs them.

Salahs injury should heal by Sunday and should be ok for Old Trafford.

Aguero has fitness issues and it is being managed at club level. It’s best he’s not to be considered for internationals right now.

When fully fit, Jesus tends to play in matches away from Etihad anyway. Exception recently was Norwich, but Jesus wasn’t 100% after his previous injury.

But Aguero will play GW10+11 at Etihad, as his training and fitness is being managed well. Don’t own him at your peril. Maybe he’s a don’t buy, don’t sell for now.

See a lot of managers holding off using their WCs to use at a later time? I think after 8 weeks, we have enough data to see who are doing good and who aren't. IMHO, certain things are set:

    1. Cannot have them all
    2. The more you wait, the more player prices go up and therefore less likelihood that you'll be able to afford your desired team
    3. New differentials / bandwagon form every 2-4 weeks so you really can't just do it once and think it's done. The beauty of FPL is that it's so dynamic that you always have to be on the ball!!

Keen to hear what people think, both who have used theirs and who are holding out their WC.

I'm using mine now. 5-6 changes was needed and I think this team can do well for 4-5 months without too many changes.

Some might hold WC with the Christmas period in mind. Things can get messy in December

Liverpool play in the Club World Cup during GW18. I'm using mine to navigate the blank, and set myself up for the winter.

Cheers. Holding out for a few more weeks if possible

Will change when I feel fixtures lineup with some of the players I want. Also won’t activate unless I have minimum 5-6 changes

I am still holding because of not deciding which premium players I should go far. I have Lundstram, Mount and Abraham from start so I guess I can hold for a little while. Plus let pool difficult period passes

If on WC, what do people think about getting Gazzaniga?

I know it’s a transfer waiting to happen somewhere down the line, but the 0.1 saved instead of keeping Ryan would come in handy for getting the team I want

Salah and Barnes to Maddison and Aubameyang for free?

    Gives Me:

    Pope
    TAA/Mings/Otamendi
    Sterling/Mount/KDB/Maddison
    Auba/Pukki/Abraham

    Button/Cantwell/Rico/Lundstram

I'm really torn on this one, on a Wildcard and I've brought in Vardy.
    Question is though:

    A. Vardy and Sterling
    B. Auba and Mahrez

'A' seems safer but 'B' is more explosive albeit more patchy.

    What would you do?

I could and it would give me a front 3 of Vardy, Auba, Tammy, but it means ditching Raz for the funds and ending up with a < 5.4 midfielder and there's nothing in that bracket at all.

Auba is not really explosive. Zero double figure hauls this season so far (if my memory serves...).

      Definitely A for me.

Well, does it really matter what he did in the 70's lol.

The man's goal won them the champions league, I think his past before that is irrelevant.

It's a groin injury, I have kept KDB because I don't wanna lose value but I'm realistic about his return, my prediction is - comes off the bench for a 1 or 4 pointer in GW9, Starts and subbed off around 60 in GW10, and maybe gets more minutes GW11.

Current WC with about 0.5 ITB

    Pope McGovern
    TAA Soyuncu Dunk Lundstram Rico
    Mane ___ Mount Maddison Cantwell
    ___ Abraham Wilson

    A) Auba KDB
    B) Vardy Sterling, and could go Yarmolenko or someone over Maddison

10 and 11 tho if he is back this weekend as suggested should be fine. We don’t know the severity of it. I don’t have him atm but if he doesn’t get the “guaranteed to start” from pep then I won’t get him back as that’s going to be a long rocky road

I've gone for Dunk. More nailed long term, and Brighton seem to be pretty defensively solid especially at home - same can't be said of Chelsea rn. Saves 0.1 as well 🙂

I'd also argue Dunk is more of a GI threat tbh, and probably bonus magnet too
