Scout’s Pro Pundits Squad adds five new signings

We are delighted to add five more leading names to the Fantasy Football Scout Pro Pundits squad.

Andy, Luke Williams, Sam Bonfield, Holly Shand and Tom Freeman have all come on board to provide even more advice for every aspiring Fantasy manager and help this site maintain its position as the leading resource in the FPL community.

Our Pro Pundits team collects together some of the most influential voices and rising stars from across the Fantasy world to share their insights.

Every week these managers will publish updates on their own FPL selections in the form of articles outlining their tactics and the thought processes behind their selections.

The content produced as a result of this new initiative will benefit both those who are Members of our site and those who are not.

Our Members will benefit from the full unedited insight and some enhanced elements but, as part of our ongoing ten-year commitment to support the Fantasy community as a whole, we are sharing a large amount with all FFS visitors for free.

Furthermore, we are also opening up a chance to engage with the Pro Pundits directly via regular Hot Topics on the site plus appearances on popular videos such as the Scoutcast and Breakfast Club.

Last week, we unveiled that Ash (FPL Hints), Az Phillips, Simon March, Zophar and Lateriser12 had joined the team.

Now we are very excited to double our squad size, with five additional signings.

Our latest Pro Pundit Signings:

  • Andy (Let’s Talk FPL)
  • Luke Williams (d1sable)
  • Sam Bonfield (FPL Family)
  • Holly Shand (FPL Community)
  • Tom Freeman (FFS user avfc82)

Andy is the face of Let’s Talk FPL, one of the leading fantasy YouTube channels and has been a big part of the Scoutcast over a number of years. He has two top 10k finishes and an additional three inside the top 20k over nine years.

Luke comes on board with a slightly different brief to the others. Rather than provide us with written articles on his FPL team, he will star in regular Sky Sports Fantasy videos on our YouTube channels. The fact that both he and Az have joined the team means that their podcast FPL Top Guns will be available to listen to on our website too.

One half of the much-loved FPL Family, Sam has served up two top 30k finishes in the last two seasons and is currently inside the 15k worldwide in what is proving to be a rather challenging 2019/20 campaign. She regularly appears on the FPL Show, the Premier League’s YouTube programme FPLFYI and their official podcast.

Holly, the founder of FPL Community, has two top 10k finishes in five FPL seasons, is a regular guest on the FPL Show and recent addition to the Scoutcast line-up.

Finally, Tom comes onto the team to make most of us feel wildly insecure about our overall rank history. A long-time Fantasy Football Scout user, he has finished inside the top 1,000 a staggering five times since 2009.

To find all the latest Pro Pundits articles, use the navigation menu at the top of the site. You can filter by each author or read all of their content in one place depending on which option you select.

Thank you once again to you are readers for the support you have given us over a period of transition in recent years.

It is through your contributions and input that we are able to continue growing the site and maintaining its position at the top of the Fantasy field.

Clean sheet odds pretty irrelevant as after the initial book they are determined by punters 98% of which are clueless.

How did VAR affect your points last week?
My mini league rival had Robbo TAA and Mane with Jimi
The "Hand ball" picked up cost Mane 5 and TAA 3 points for the assist. Points the foul not given which resulted in no clean sheet for Pool cost 8 points for his Pool defense and 3 points in bonuses. Jimi 2 disallowed goals another 8 points. He must be sick as a dog.

So about 4 gameweeks ago I posted as Athletic Nasherbo (can’t use that account for now as wrong email change lol) saying that I was ready to quit this year of FPL.

4 gameweeks later I have gone from an overall rank of 2.7million to 255k. So what I have done differently?

I can’t stress enough that limiting the time you spend watching/reading/listening to FPL helps clear your head whilst you can still make clear and informed judgments regarding transfers, captains and who to bench. By spending all week looking at what other people do you end up considering so many potential options that it becomes extremely difficult to narrow down.

Imagine spending so much time trying to come to the correct decision when you’re making a decision on a game that’s very unpredictable? You get demoralised, just like you would if you’d spent so much time revising for a test/exam which you did bad in. This leads to irrational transfers.

By limiting the time spend you don’t fall into traps that I’ve seen over the last few weeks- KdB out and bringing in Aubameyang and Wilson for the armband based off of one plum fixture. Waste of precious free transfers.

When you reduce your time spent on FPL you realise how precious transfers and the patience that comes with it.

I’m by no means an expert but I just thought I’d like to share my experience. I now get all my team news from BBC Sport and simply watch football without the FPL lens (this is hard to do when you put so much time into FPL in the week).

Some just need to take a step back and start enjoying and watching football again.

Agree so much. I went with H-Odoi and Vardy on my WC as I just thought they'd do well. Didn't think too much about Chelsea triple up, just thought I think H-odoi does well so stuff it.

Did mention Mousset a few teams and bottled that but also brought in Perreira and Tierney who I hope score big soon

Tierney is a great example of being influenced by the community in my opinion. Might get the odd good score but Arsenal players are heavily rotated and particularly defenders useless for cleansheets.

Again wasting a transfer. There is no evidence to suggest he hauls. He could absolutely do so but if he doesn’t you’ll be looking for replacements already.

Nah, I'm happy to hold and wait. Kolas is awful, arsenal paid 40 mil, he will be a regular first teamer. No evidence that H-Odoi would get 9 points but I like to go with gut. Also find fullbacks much more enjoyable, rather have him for 3 weeks and transfer out if not doing well then go with someone else and him do well then get him in when he becomes popular and rises

Agree entirely. Spent huge amount of time on this site last year and got bad result.

Spent much less this year. Bought in Cantwell in GW 2. Patient with Wilson since GW1. Went with CHO (stead of Mount) and Jimmy on WC this week without look at the site. OR at 6.7 k now

p.s. also brought in Tierney and escaped from it by Rico's 8 points on bench...hope he will start next week!

Agree that there is a danger of falling into bandwagons from reading through comments/seeking vindication (remember triple captain Brighton last season)? How much of it is just down to luck, though?

I've been very conservative with transfers this season - I've only taken one -4 and I'm 332,746 OR. Looks bad on paper but there are plenty of names within my cash league, who are 30 places and 40 points behind, yet they've won the league in previous years.

I've made some horrendous captaincy choices which according to anewfpl have cost me around 30 points.

I'm keeping my W/C until November - I know some people's hands have already been forced but (so far) I've seen off bandwagons for players like Haller and Barnes, and other dubious choices like Greenwood, and come away relatively unscathed.

Don't get me wrong I think I want the likes of Mason Mount in my side, but in previous years I'd have ripped the team apart and/or taken a -4 to facilitate it. Other than a big price rise/drop, I'm biding my time and making the one transfer, and not necessarily benefiting or losing from the discussion that goes off through the week.

It seems that you can sieve through bandwagons and play your own game. Others including myself find it way more difficult. I think luck plays a role of course!

This is the season for form not fixtures as of now.

I remember my first year on this site. Finished 8k. Then got way too influenced in the last few seasons and didn’t do as good.

There’s time to seek advice in FPL- festive period, double gameweeks, and blanks. The rest is simply to cure boredom I think.

Lol. I've watched all his games, I know how few chances he gets. I also know that a lot of the poor amount of chances he's had have been down to facing generally tough teams to break down, and Brendan shooting himself in the foot by insisting on playing Maddison out wide which totally imbalances the whole squad. Now it seems he's over playing Maddison wide and the team has improved.

GW10 McGinn to Grealish (Might play him vs Pool)

What do people think to Ings and Grealish rotation week after next?? Switch between 3-5-2 and 3-4-3, great run of fixtures If you rotate then, or is this overthing and over complicated and just stick with Callum Wilson??

    Afternoon,

    I've had Lundstram & Rico from GW1.
Looking at bringing in O'Connell as well for Aurier (gamble wildcard pick).
I've got 3 big hitters up front so 9/10 I'll play 3 at the back - TAA, Digne and one of Rico, Lundstram, Aurier.
Sheff Utd seem pretty solid 9 games in, their fixtures are decent apart from 12, 13 but Rico plays New (A) Wol (H) so he covers that. Also don't really see a problem bringing Lundstram if needed as he's OOP.
Theres value to be had from Sheff Utd defenders.

Am I talking myself into a mistake or does this make sense?

if you'll play 3 at the back and with Lundstram, TAA and Digne, how often will you need O'Connell? I would save the 0.2 and go Jarmaat or save 0.1 with Lascelles or Webster
