FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 10

A dismal Gameweek 9 for many (but not all) Fantasy Premier League managers has left a bad taste in the mouth and given us plenty of issues to debate ahead of the coming weekend.

Manchester City’s players continued to be rotated at Selhurst Park, Teemu Pukki (£7.0m) blanked again and many premium options failed to deliver.

You may have your own Fantasy-related quandary and our Question Time form is now open for your submissions below.

We have put together another panel of managers to help provide some answers, with some familiar Fantasy Football Scout users here to respond to your questions.

WHO’S ON THE PANEL THIS WEEK?

David Munday – Editor of Fantasy Football Scout.

Applebonkers – A seasoned FFS face who boasts three top 10k finishes including an overall rank of 514, despite having a managing strategy he describes as “constantly fighting differential tourettes”. Likes to find a flaw in the seemingly untouchable and a ray of light in the stigma players.

Twisted Saltergater – A valued community member with ten years on FFS and 13 seasons of FPL under his belt, there’s nothing that TS hasn’t seen before.

Pirlø’s Pen – An dedicated and consistent FPL manager who hasn’t finished outside of the top 50k in the last four seasons. Carefully managed his Community team to become the Fantasy Chilli Bowl Champions in 16/17.

I'll probably take a chance on Martial/James. United go on smaller streaks every season when you least expect it, and if you miss out on the first haul then that's them pretty much done as differentials.

I've ended up with mount and CHO coz couldn't bring myself to drop mount. Both can return and both great value. Tammy is just one of most owned players.

We have pretty much the same team, apart from I have Salah instead of Mane and Fredericks and Cantwell instead of Boly/Donkey. I feel good about triple up on Chelsea attack. You confident in aguero cap? I'm currently on him too. If I had Boly I think I'd go for him over Lund next week.

It has and think Pep is beginning to phase Aguero out to give Jesus more time but I wouldn't want to miss out on Aguero at home in either of the next two home EPL games.

Any suggestions what to do with this lot?
    2FT 0.3 ITB

    Ryan Button
    TAA, Soyuncu, Ota, AWB, Lund
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, Mount, Cantwell
    Pukki, Abraham, Greenwood

Cantwell, AWB, Pukki and Greenwood are all players I’d happily be rid of.

    A) Cantwell & Pukki -> CHO & Jota a crazy move?!
    B) AWB -> Rico and use the cash to upgrade Cantwell (to who?)

With the squad they have, you'd think Arsenal would be playing a lot more entertaining football then they have at the moment. Imagine having players like Auba, Laca, Pepe, Oezil and not able to hit a barn door in several "easy looking" games in the league.
      Emery, hands down.

Spurs are shocking, but they've been beset by injuries, player discontent, behind-the-scenes brawls etc. Cant blame Poch as much as others are.

    8. Brosstan
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

Fair play to EMery for trying to bring a load of youngsters in I think, but hes chopping and changing too much, needs to settle on his best team.

      Poch has lost it.

Ole is the worst, dont let the Pool result fool anyone, United will be back to being trash against Norwich

tactically i like Pochettino better as you can understand his logic, that cannot be said about Emery. He is too fixated on the other team and sets up both his tactic and set up after it, and like yesterday shown, he fails at it because you don´t put 3 no-creativity whatsoever in midfield and then try to battle it out with SHU with the likes of Xhaka and Willock..

Way too much money held up in a few players. There's a ton of value everywhere this season so players like Son arent worth it if it means you have to play Cantwell or Connolly. Soy is a very bad pick despite the bandwagon on here.

    Auba - Aguero

    OR

    De Bruyne

There was a post on twitter earlier showing that of the top 20 bookies favourties to score a goal this week only 2 did. I am guessing most teams have at least 6-7 of those players so was a very dull week as no one really got any G+A

      1. Brosstan
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

Just sounds a tad biased that the week is dismal just because premiums did poorly. For managers who havent doubled or tripled up on premiums, which is a perfectly fine strategy, it was probably pretty good. I can hazard a guess what kind of players are in the article writer's team..

Because most of the ‘good picks’ scored 2 points and lots of ‘alternative’ picks scored 6-8 points.

This season seems to be all about whether you get the Rico/Kelly/Lund points or you bench them (I’ve benched c40 points of them so far - I’m very good obviously)

Yeah this is a good point. The main point swings at the moment tend to be between those who get the Rico/Lundstram points and those who have them as 3rd sub.

Why are so many people bringing Mane in? Form isnt great and neither is immediate fixtures (yea Spurs are bad but relatively speaking they arent great right now)

Ssshhhh! He's playing for the team at No. 1, Salah not hitting heights we're used to, let them buy away.

Relatively speaking, Liverpool are a lot better than Spurs atm. Spurs have just drawn to the worst side in the league at home and should have lost. They were also completely outplayed away to Brighton. Liverpool's home record is very good. Mane has scored 3 goals in the last 4 home games he has started.

Not really chasing points. Would've had a goal on Sunday had the ball not brushed off his hand. Looks a better player than Salah this year.

Yeah true. Not worth doing Salah > Mane, IMO.

I'm considering Salah > KDB (have Sterling so doubling up for City's next 2 fixtures). Then looking to get Mane in after the City game.

Thats what I think yes. Salah to Mane is just not the move I would make except Mo gets badly injured or blanks 50% of games. Choose one and he will return for sure, they are beasts.

Looks like Liverpool's best attacking outlet, and has been this entire calendar year.

Passes the eye test much better than Mo too. Mane seems to be much more central, compared to Salah who's spent a lot of the time out on the touchline.

Oh agreed. Salah > Mane (or vice-versa) is too sideways.

But I think you can go without 'Pool attackers for the next few and double up on KDB/Sterling instead. Then bring in Mane/Salah a few weeks down the line.

Could very well do that, i have KDB & Ota for now but may do Auba > Aguero later this week depending on his mins and stuff. Would be hard losing KDB so may just stick with him and Salah anyway.

Seems relatively secure. Lloyd Kelly is competition but Howe does seem to favour Rico atm. A clean sheet on Saturday will have done Rico no harm, and he's providing a decent outlet on the left.

C has the best chance of a clean sheet IMO.
B has the best attacking threat.

Used to be EmeryIn (not and Arsenal Fan). Now I'm shifting to EmeryOut.
Reminds me of when we had Puel here in Southampton. The guy on paper did alright. Finished 8th/9th in the league, reached a cup final. On paper, everything was fine. So why sack him?
Simple, the football was utter crap. We played the blandest form of football I'd seen, especially compared to previous progressive managers like Poch and RonKoe. The guy had so many players suited to an exciting, attacking style like Boufal and Tadic, and yet still decided sideways football was the way to go. Jokes.
Won't attack the man's character, but as a coach he was not the one for us. And I think its the same with Emery. The guy's tactics are just not right for this Arsenal team. When you've got the firepower they have, you'd think they'd be blowing teams apart left-right and center. Somehow that hasn't been the case, has it? The guy will finish top 4, and he may get a decent run in the Europa League, but lets not paper over the growing consensus that the man isn't right for a squad like Arsenal, for a team like Arsenal who have played with Wenger-ball for so long.
