Fantasy Allsvenskan Last Gameweek of the Season

A dramatic gameweek 29 leaves AIK licking their wounds and accepting their part in the title race this season is all played out, while Djurgården, Hammarby and Malmö still have their sights set on the trophy. Djurgården will win it as long as they don’t lose away to Norrköping, while Malmö needs Djurgården to lose while they beat Örebro away. Hammarby, on the other hand, need Djurgården to lose while they beat Häcken but not only that – assuming Malmö also wins their game, they also need to win against Häcken by a margin of one more goal than Malmö wins by! All set up for a highly dramatic finish to Allsvenskan with goals all over the place then (or a torrid affair with everyone limping over the finish line, but let’s hope not). Yours truly will be within the green and white mass at Tele2, praying for a goal-fest and a title for only the second time in the club’s history!

Gameweek 29 review

We have a lot of ground to cover in the preview so we’ll keep the review brisk but GW29 proved to be a big week both for the top-ranked clubs and the bottom dwellers, as Hammarby travelled to Östersund and just barely eked out a win. Forgotten man Imad Khalili (6.4m) scored the first and Nikola Djurdjic (10.7m) the second, assisted by Alexander Kačaniklić (8.7m) and Darijan Bojanic (7.5m) respectively. Khalili starting meant that Vladimir Rodic (8.2m) dropped out, remains to be seen if he is reinstated for the final game at home. Those goals mean that Hammarby also broke the record for most goals scored in Allsvenskan (71 after this) and a short recap video of the season-long onslaught of goals can be found here for those interested.

Malmö faced off against AIK in a do or die game where AIK eventually succumbed to the pressure. It took a while but in the 78th minute Anders Christiansen (9.8m) who had just been on the pitch for five minutes smashed in 1-0. 2-0 came nine minutes later through Arnór Ingvi Traustason (9.0m). AIK are thus out of the race for the title and in a cruel twist of fate also out of the top three, unless they somehow claw back a goal difference of 12/13 goals vs Hammarby/Malmö in the final game. They could however still qualify for Europe if they either win the Swedish cup, or finish fourth and one of the top three clubs win the cup instead.

Djurgården had a comfortable game at home to Örebro which never really looked like finishing with anything other than three points. Mohamed Buya Turay (9.8m) managed to place himself firmly in the center of attention once again as he scored another goal only to be substituted off immediately after, where he spent a while on the bench sulking since he’s aiming for the golden boot and felt disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to go for more.

Finally, here are some gameweek 29 stats, gathered from @poohdini59 on Twitter;

The three most popular captains in the top 1k were:

Muamer Tankovic; Captained by 28.0%, EO 92.8%, scored 4 points.

Marcus Danielsson; Captained by 12.5%, EO 73.3%, scored 8 points.

Nikola Djurdjic; Captained by 11.2%, EO 62.8%, scored 5 points.

Gameweek 30 preview

So here we are, 29 gameweeks later… Norrköping-Djurgården promises to be a modern-day classic in terms of tension, with the hosts having won eight straight games at home with a goal difference of 22-1. Djurgården wins the title as long as they don’t lose this game so expect a tight game, if Norrköping takes the lead however, things could open up. Most defenders in the two teams have attacking threat as well so might as well play them unless you have some really good bench options.

Hammarby entertains Häcken at home with a very clear objective, win and if possible, win big! We all know that Hammarby can score a few and despite struggling all season defensively, there has been some positive signs in that department as well. Like Norrköping, Hammarby have eight straight wins at home (and 12-2-0 on the season), but the goal difference indicates that there are different ways of going about it, as they have 31-9 instead of 22-1. Häcken are no pushovers but given the way to challenging for the title includes scoring one more goal than Malmö, expect Hammarby to go for it in front of the home crowd. Muamer Tankovic (9.5m) might not have fulfilled the role we hoped for away to Östersund but at home, with a competition for the golden boot against Buya Turay (and to a lesser extent Nikola Djudjic and Robin Söder), chances are good he gets something from this game.

Malmö travel to Örebro and they need to win to keep their title hopes alive, preferably by a big margin so they don’t have to bother too much about how it goes in the Hammarby game. Anders Christiansen will miss out on the final game though as he suffered another setback with his calf problem. Arnór Ingvi Traustason needs to try to provide the creative spark in his place.

In the bottom of the league, Kalmar aren’t out of the woods yet since they lost at home to Falkenberg, they now travel to Uppsala to take on Sirius who are safe from relegation. The big news in Kalmar is that underperforming coach Magnus Pehrsson opted to step down ahead of the final game which means that academy chief Jens Nilsson steps in together with U19 coaches Jörgen Petersson and Stefan Larsson – who’s been doing a great job getting Kalmar to play attacking football at youth level. Sirius coach Henrik Rydström is a Kalmar legend who got forced out of the club after last season despite the fans wanting him to stay, and he’s now faced with the prospect of sending his old club down to the second division. The “big” game in the bottom of the table is Falkenberg at home to AFC Eskilstuna, where Eskilstuna are rock bottom on 20 points and Falkenberg are two spots ahead on 22, which currently means a playoff against the team that comes third in the league below. Wedged in between them we have Sundsvall who travel to AIK with a really tough task of getting all three points.

Players to target

It’s definitely differential time so I’ve tried to go for some really low ownership players to target for one final push! Keep in mind they are firmly in the punt-category but with just one week left to go, why not roll the dice?

Alexander Jakobsen returned a solitary assist last week, arguably a bit disappointing after being talked up on here but it was always going to be a two-week gamble. Still owned by just 0.6%, he has every chance of adding to that tally in a hugely important game for Kalmar away to Sirius! Kalmar needs the win to have it all within their own hands and Jakobsen could prosper under new management.

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson (8.8m) has struggled in his first season with AIK, only getting two goals and three assists in 953 minutes played. As a result, he’s owned by just 1.6% and now have one final chance to improve his tally in front of the home fans – against Sundsvall who’s very likely heading out of the league. Sundsvall will be motivated, sure, but AIK will want to put on a show for the faithful fans who turn up despite the title being whisked away by Malmö in GW29.

Are we really going to consider a Hammarby defender? Richard Magyar (5.0m) has played a huge role in Hammarby’s defence starting to get the occasional clean sheet and he’s returned two goals, one assist and four clean sheets since returning to the club this summer. Owned by just 0.6%, he represents a shrewd punt for those looking at a defensive transfer – could he be this week Lauritsen?

Alexander Fransson (8.0m) is the most popular option in this particular list at 5.5% ownership yet those numbers arguably should be higher, given he’s returned five goals and five assists on the season, along with 15 defensive and 2 offensive bonus points. Crucially, he appears to end the season on a high note as his last five GW-point tallies are 6, 4, 7, 3, and 16.

Captaincy thoughts

Muamer Tankovic is at home, going for the golden boot, on penalties, and Hammarby has to win by a large number of goals to have a chance of finishing either second or, as the target obviously has to be, first. Understandably people might want a bit more of a differential for the final week to push up in the league, and Hammarby offers up another alternative with similar prospects – Alexander Kačaniklić. With two goals and one assist in his last three games, he’s a man in form along with striker Nikola Djurdjic who’s got three goals and two assists in the last four games. Djurdjic is two goals behind Tankovic in the race for the golden boot and we might even see a bit of friendly competition between the two, should he start approaching the same tally.

Henok Goitom (10.1m) face a Sundsvall side that will be highly motivated, but even though AIK really only have the fourth place to play for (unless they score an insane amount of goals while Hammarby/Malmö lose really big), I expect a home side that will want to finish the season on a high note. Goitom has the potential to go big as we saw against Falkenberg, and this is a similar level of opposition (but with a better keeper to be fair).

Hope you all have a great final gameweek and regardless of how it ends, I’ve been very blessed this season with such great support from you lot so thanks a million for that! I might do some FPL-articles in the wait for next season but will otherwise try to make the most of this period of time up until March/April when it all kicks off again, hope to see you once more then. I think the first and foremost thing that needs to be said is a huge thank you to Meltens for his work on these articles this season. Continuously top quality and have really helped drive discussion - absolutely phenomenal. Been an honour to work with you on these this season, by which I mean I've had to do very little 🙂

As for the high-flying FFS members in the chase for #1 OR - good luck to Daniel Sebestyen and Jan Inge Nordby! Also hoping to see Henrik Mäkitalo and Simon Eriksson finish in the top 10, been a fantastic season for all 4 of you and hope you all have the finishes you deserve.

Cheers Ted, it's been great fun and I very much appreciate the effort you've put into publishing them on a frequently tight schedule before the deadlines 🙂

Yeah it's really great to see four of the top ten overall representing FFS, and two of them within a realistic shout of a title challenge all the way into the final week, we're all rooting for you to go on an win it!!

I came on to say the same thing. Thanks so much Meltens and everyone else. I'm on course for top 5k in my first season despite missing GW1, which I think is decent, but I couldn't have done it without your help.

Good luck for the final gameweek and see you next year!

This is it! The final gameweek of Fantasy Allsvenskan is upon us and besides an exciting end fantasy-wise, three clubs are still in the running to win the title. Above you have the superb-as-always preview as well as a few differentials to look into for GW 30, but now it's over to you!

How’s the team shaping up for GW30, transfers, captains?
Will the overall winner be someone from the FFS league? I'm definitely hoping so and cheering them on!
How has your season turned out?
And finally, who do you think wins Allsvenskan - Djurgården, Malmö or Hammarby?

Good luck in GW 30 everyone!

Djurgården looks certain to win it, but I'd love an upset in the final round. They would defenitly be worthy winners, although I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Hammarby. They've been playing superb attacking football this season, and I also feel they've been a bit hard done by the referees this year.

Don't think so either though Djurgården should have a good chance of walking away with at least a point, but I sure hope Norrköping give them one hell of a go! 😉

Thanks, Meltens, great help this season! You are the man!

Just noticed I still have my 'Framåt' aka 'All out attack' chip left, so that is activated for GW30.
Haglund - Goitom - Söder, not great but not keen on any hits.
Had originally given up on this game mid-summer, but on a strong comeback now from 7k OR to 917 last 10 GWs.

      Best of luck everyone.

        Cheers Kyrgios! 🙂

Could definitely be a lot worse strikers and fixtures to use the chip on, hopefully Söder starts as well and there isn't some sort of a "goodbye"-start for Lasse Vibe who's leaving after the season: https://www.expressen.se/gt/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/just-nu-stjarnan-lamnar-ifk-goteborg/ but that is a slight risk. Maybe he gets a late sub on instead? Who knows really, just giving you the information so you have time to consider either way.

        Good luck!

First of all, a massive thanks to Meltens and everyone els who's been contributing with thoughts and information here during the season. It has certainly added something to the game, and I hope you've all enjoyed this season as much as I have.

GW29 was another very average GW for my team, and the decision to go for Rodic ahead of Bojanic cost me 8 points and 10 places in the OR. I can't win the local ML, but looks certain to win the Elfsborg fan league so I'm not quite sure what to go for now. Will play it safe to the end, and will use my 1FT on Toivio to Karlsson if he's confirmed in the AIK line-up, and captain will be Tankovic in lack of a better option.

What I'm most intrested in is how people will cope with Norrköping-Djurgården? I got 3 players from each team and feel like I'll have to pick a side and go all-in. Djurgården havn't lost a single game outside of Stockholm this season, while Norrköping have not conceded a single goal at home since the 7th of July(!). With the pressure on Djurgården, and the fact that they have conceded goals away to Sundsvall and Östersund recently, I'm leaning towards Norrköping there. That would mean Pettersson, Lauritsen and Haksabanovic on the pitch and Vaiho, Käck and Witry on the bench.

      Cheers Bob!

Yeah not sure about Rodic, if Khalili plays he seems to get dropped. Maybe he's reinstated at home in a really attacking lineup? A bit of a don't buy don't sell I guess.

A tough choice indeed with Norrköping/Djurgården! I'm leaning towards benching Petterson (not sure, in that case I play Rönning vs Helsingborg away) and Käck - but playing Witry, Krogh Gersson and Haksabanovic. Haven't made a transfer yet so could still change, though as you know, I never bench Witry since GW2 ;/

Looking to have one last punt, will see who makes way!

      1. Bob Sacamano
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 4 months ago

Both Rönning and Pettersson are good options. It's a difficult GW for defensive options, but I'll still back Norrköping after theire defensive performances since the summer. Would love to make a final punt, but I just don't have it in me. Playing it safe has taken me to a top 40 place at the moment, hopefully it can take me a little further. I expect many others to make one final push and perhaps take a few hits, hopefully they wont pay off and it will give me an advantage. Also, it's very tight around place 25-40 and if two players finish on the same score, the least number of transfers made will decide who finishes higher.

    Hi Meltens

Along with everyone else a massive thanks for all your hard work and insightfulness over the season. It's undoubtedly helped me (hopefully) achieve my target of a top 1% finish (currently 304th). And it's by far my favourite article on FFS and one I look forward to each week and also thanks to everyone who contributes their thoughts, again very helpful, so cheers Bob, MT, REA and all the others.

This week I have two free transfers. I'm backing Norrkopping and Djurgardens to cancel each other out with a 0-0 draw so have Petterson and Gerson at the back alongside Witry and Danielsson.

Transfers: Had 2.4m in the bank so exact money to do the following.

Out go midfielder Haksabanovic (backing a 0-0) and Offia up front.

In come Djurdjic up front and Yusuf (will be 3rd on bench).

    Captain will be Goitom.

    Line-up will be:

    Pettersson

    Witry - Danielsson - Gerson

Rodic - Bojanic - Seb Larsson - Traustason

    Goitom (C) - Djurdjic (VC) - Karlsson

First on the bench will be the mighty Hodzic who I also fancy to get a clean sheet. If Eskilstuna go down I hope he signs for someone else in the top flight, been great value.

Good luck everyone and let's hope for a big Hammerby win and fair winds elsewhere for Meltens.

    Cheers

    Johnny

      Thanks Johnny, always the gentleman!

Looking like a great plan and a really nice lineup! 🙂 I also love Hodzic as a fantasy option, hoping he gets snatched up but not too much of a price hike. Think he should attract some attention from the Swedish clubs.

Haha yeah, a big Hammarby win and I'll be happy regardless of what that means in terms of final position! But of course, the title dream is alive until it's dead 😉

      Cheers!

Thanks Johnny, your posts and thought have always been appriciated! The team looks good for this week, and a goal less draw in Norrköping-Djurgården is far from unlikely. Would perhaps concider a different captain since AIK got nothing to play for and are rather goal shy compared to Hammarby. Djurdjic and Bojanic are in great form, and I'd defenitly concider Bojanic if I had him, he seems guaranteed at least 3 bonus points at this stage.

Cheers Bob, I hear you and if it wasn't the last gameweek I'd captain one of my three Hammerby players..

The armband on Goitom is for several reasons; I think most will captain a Hammerby player and not Goitom. He's only owned by 9.5% so a reasonable differential. Goitom's form over the last five games is excellent with 7 goals and 2 assists (43 pts in last five), they are at home against a team with a very slim chance of not getting relegated so Sundsvall may well come out and attack. And I wanted to take a punt on the last captain and Goitom's my 'gut feel'. Plus Goitom is four goals behind the leading goalscorer and we know he can score four in a match, maybe if he gets an early goal or two his team-mates will try and help him win the golden boot. A very long shot I know.

Agree that a Hammerby player would be the sensible, even logical, choice but I'll go with my gut and my very flawed logic!

Good luck Bob, I'll be on here following the games, 7:00 pm kick-offs for me so a good time.

Postscript: I've just had a look at the AIK v Sundsvall record, in their last five meetings there have been a total of three goals scored! Mmmmmh, the drawing board beckons!

Oh my, you're absolutely right! Just came across this https://grapevine.is/news/2019/11/01/kolbeinn-sigthorsson-arrested/ "According to the report, Kolbeinn apparently resisted arrest around 3:00 o’clock on Friday night and subsequently spent the night in jail. The AIK football club executives have not commented substantially, just saying that the matter will be handled internally."

Well he seems like an awful pick then haha, these modern day footballers... 😉 Might still play I guess but where's his mind, and is he still hungover?
Thanks for the info, forza Bajen!

As Norrkoping hates Malmo, is it possible that they won't break themselves to win and possibly play a 0-0 or something like that?

I'll let CPT Crunch who's a bonified Norrköping supporter be the guide but from what I know, it's Sleipner and Åtvidaberg (both far down the league system) that's Norrköpings rivals. Back in the 1940s and 1950s both Malmö and Norrköping were really good, getting five and six titles respectively. Wouldn't really say there's much animosity between the clubs nowadays, other than a lot of clubs disliking Malmö in general 😉
But that's what titles, money, great players and self-confidence (/arrogance) get you really.

Cheers mate! 🙂 Are you Daniel Sebestyen by the way, second OR and first in the FFS league?

I think Göteborg have a good chance in general at home of keeping cleans, however Östersund were really attacking against Hammarby last week so not sure what to make of them as a team without the pressure (on the pitch at least). Cleans could be hard to come by this week as most teams will either really be going for it or have nothing to play for - i.e. a bit more relaxed and loose.

Finding clean sheets in a final GW is usually rather difficult, especially with teams who got nothing to play for. I'd back AIK and Malmö to have the best chance, but apart from them, Göteborg looks decent. Not sure I'd spend a transfer on it though.

As for Norrköping, I expect them to be fully motivated and to give everything to beat Djurgården, although it could be difficult for them to find that extra motivation if Djurgården get the first goal.

At 787 which is meh but my high of the season. 1FT although not sure what I'm doing yet. Tankovic or Goitom captain. 5 DIF/NOR defs to make a decision on. Wouldn't mind dropping Rodic to bring in Djurdjic, but not for a hit.

I have the same situation with Rodic, I don't want to take a hit and see that he starts and braces so I'll just roll the dice.

A late reply this! Ended up with an OR of 1,496 - in contrast to 104 last season. The funny thing is that I spent more time watching Allsvenskan games this season than I did last year…

Will definitely be around next season, trying to improve that OR!

Signing of with another horrific GW, a massive red arrow and my worst rank since GW10. When the auto-subs are made, I'll be lucky to still finish inside the top 50 which was far from the target I set a few weeks ago of a top 20 finish and winning the local ML.

Poor managing and even worse decision making cost me too many points. The decision to go for Rodic over Bojanic in GW29, and captaining Tankovic instead of Kacaniklic cost me cost me 21p in the final two gameweeks, and that's pretty much exactly the 20 places I lost in those two gameweeks. I also went from a heavy attack to a heavy midfield about the same time as Goitom and Djurdjic hit top form.

I hope you've all enjoyed the season, I know I have, and I've learned a lot from this. Most importantly that there is a thing as playing it too safe. Will try to be more punty next year, and spend my chips better.

Still a great finish Bob to be in the top 50, well played.

I should finish around the 300 mark which I'm delighted with. My aim was for a top 1% finish and I've got that. Ended up with 71 pts this week.

Goitom came through for me in the end as captain but my other transfer in Yusuf got 2 goals and his 15 pts are sitting nicely on the bench.

        Can't wait for next season.

Imagine that's frustrating but still a really good rank.
More or less a grey arrow for me on the game week and vs last year - finished at 792 (781 last season)

OR 1,496 this season, after some really bad gameweeks, and constantly having to sort out issues in my team. Far from the OR of 104 last season.

Had a but of a meh final GW myself, ended up on 67 points and a red arrow. Finished at 217 OR which is slightly worse than I had my sights set on but still a good season overall.

Thanks for all the articles Meltens! Great job. I hit 79 pts on the last game week and finished at 2.1K my highest rank of the season. Enjoy your time off and good luck in FPL

Nice, hope to see you again for the next season! Will probably write some FPL stuff in the meantime but not with quite the same frequency 😉 Good luck to you too!

Thanks for the articles throughout the season Meltens - great work!

Ended with 64 points and a OR of 433 in my debut season - Can't argue with that!

I found it very hard since the transfer window, difficult to adjust to all the transfers!

              Thanks RAE!

Very chuffed being the first season I've played, especially considering I had a very average start
