FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 12

Fantasy Premier League managers have one more Gameweek before the final international break of 2019.

With Manchester City and Liverpool meeting each other at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, large portions of the so-called template might cause some problems this week.

So we’ve put together another panel of managers to give you their input ahead of Gameweek 12…

WHO’S ON THE PANEL THIS WEEK?

FlapjackFPL: A Pukki pioneer who was the first to the party by captaining him in Gameweek 2, Flapjack has been having success in FPL for years. Four top 10k finishes in his last seven seasons is an impressive feat, and he could well be on to another this season.

How Now Brown Cow: A long-time FFS poster, HNBC boasts an impressive record that includes all top 100k finishes in the last six seasons, with the latest two in the top 5k. Patience has clearly paid off for this “no risk no hits” manager!

Darth_Krid: A past community tournament organiser, Krid has the FPL credentials to boot. Just before finishing 1,165th, he achieved his best finish of 805th in 2015/16 despite going completely Vardy-less during Leicester’s title triumph – but his current plan of repeating the trick is not quite going to plan!

Should I suffer CWilson one more week for Newcastle, or bring in Jimi and watch Wilson inevitably score....

The big question is if you want a City player or not. Given their next to fixtures I would rather go for a Leicester defender. Currently all of them look appealing. I'm currently even thinking about a Watford defender as they had some clean sheets before Chelsea and easier fixtures on the horizon

    Pope, 4.0
    TAA, Lundstram, Soyuncu, Rico, Tomori
    Mane, KDB, Sterling, Mount, Maddison
    Abraham, Jimenez, Greenwood

    2ft. 0.7m in bank

Sterling -> 4.5 and Greenwood -> Vardy a no brainer right?

I wouldn’t touch Martial. United far too inconsistent. As soon as you think they’ve picked up a head of steam, they invariably go straight back down the toilet again.

    Morning all!

Just looking for some advice. I've started well in ML as sitting in 1st however last week was disappointing and team not looking right now. So just after suggestions on what you'd do with this lot:

    Button Pope
    Rico Soy VVD Lund Tomori
    Salah Sterling KDB Yarmo Mount
    Greenwood Vardy Jiminez

I've got 2FT this week and still got my WC which i had planned to use after the IB. Any advice/thoughts would be amazing.. thanks all.

    1. Arfaish
      • 11 Years

Certainly wouldn't WC that. Only comment I have is that it looks a benching headache in defence each week so id look to Tomori > Kelly (or equivalent) and Jiminez > Tammy if the funds work out

I can see 4/5 imminent changes
Use the 2FT since you’re planning to WC soon
Greenwood to Abraham, Sterling to Tielemans could work in the short term

He really isn't but I agree wolves have not been on it so far this season FPL returns wise. His upcoming fixtures make him a good option.

2G 2A in last 4 matches, good fixtures, nailed on, a focal player in the attack, stats are actually swings and roundabouts vs Auba and Kun (on an average per match basis). Oh and he costs £4.8m less than Kun ....

      What were you saying again?

    4. pingissimus
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 5 months ago

      Ermmm

He's great and now real value. The only reason I'm not getting him is I'm happy to punt on Kane for 2/3 weeks and wait before I redistribute cash into defence and Jim isn't the sort to haul just to tick over very very consistently i unlikely to hurt but always nice to have.

Personally, I'm not convinced Wolves are creating enough chances. Fixtures look good but do they score enough? Three goals in their last three, against Southampton, Newcastle and Arsenal. I did like watching Jota at the weekend tho, thought he was brilliant.

      1. Arfaish
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

Jota is a real live wire for us and now hes back will start scoring. I agree with your initial point though and reflected in my team only having Dendonker for his price and not looking to get more in

Yep, that's a positive, but they've created 87 chances this season. Only Palace, Newcastle and Sheffield United have created fewer. I also think Arsenal is exactly the type of game which suits their style of play, but lets see.

Hmm, he's only 21 and his scoring rate at Dortmund wasn't anything to shout about, but Lampard does seem to be getting the best out of him. Palace at home won't be easy tho, he's then got internationals with USA (I think?) so a lot of travel, then its City, so I think a move for him could wait.

McGinn is a huge regret for me. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. He's so under the radar at 5.8 he's only a touch below the Leicester mids in returns.

Preponderance of away fixtures coming up but he scored away at both Spurs and Arsenal.

Yup im leaning towards one of those two.
Grealish stats look much better over past 4 matches and he seemed to be playing further forward recently.
Im quite optimistic about this price bracket think Trossard will also become an option soon.

Yup even I do after looking at the stats past 4 matches.
And like you mentioned in your HT a couple of weeks ago that he has started playing further forward recently.
Grealish expected to be fit for Wolves right? Would be nice see them play together this week and then make a decision.

Sorry, I'm partly responsible for that!

Alonso and Silva if injured are issues, so I think the moves you suggest are okay as you'll switch formation to a 3-4-3.

Not so keen on Willems tho, think there could be more value in Tomori.

    Looking at this WC...

    Gazza/4.0
    TAA/Robbo/Chilwell/Lund/4.3
    Mane/KDB/Tielemans/Mount/Martial
    Vardy/Tammy/4.3

Only problem is, who do I drop to play Lundstram in his good fixtures?

Don’t need triple Leicester- drop Chilwell and upgrade Tielemans to Maddison.

The only possible justification is that Lund hauls from his favourite position - the bench. Be sure that Cantwell doesn't get minutes.

Am a fixtures guy, so hard to bench Cantwell at home to Watford, and am sure Spurs will score at home. Already benched a 12 pointer from Lundy this season though, so a tough call. Will have to meditate on this one I think.

    Mane Sterling KDB Perez Yarmo

What do you think of a Fantasy 5 game?

Similar to what the UCL are doing in their Fantasy game... where you pick your 5-a-side team and a captain

Would be interesting... but I guess you'd see a lot of the same team and the skill gap is decreased...

    Fun idea though...

Is it too risky to do sterling to salah following this GW to have both mane and salah with KdB as only city player?

Hasn't been hitting the heights and wont captain him for that run. Salah and mane could both be hauling over that period

At current form I wouldnt be doubling up on pool attack for sure. Doubling up on their defensive wings though.... its a shame that its not easy for me to perform that, a lot of surgery .... damn

    Pope (Button)
    Söy, Robertson, Mendy
    Maddison, Sterling, De Bruyne, Mount
    Vardy Jiménez Abraham

    Button - Lundstrum, Dunk Cantwell

What to do with this? 2.4m in the bank.

Could upgrade the keeper or Cantwell, but would rather reinvest in the starting 11. Would like Mane, but can't afford him without sacrificing someone.
