Which FPL players are most involved at set-piece situations?

We take a closer look at set-piece takers in this latest Members’ article.

For those who are unaware, our Set Pieces tab details the expected corner-kick, free-kick and penalty takers for each Premier League side.

Subscribers can also see which players are getting onto the end of dead-ball deliveries, with headed attempts from set plays also chronicled.

The lists are based on a mix of information gathered from this seasonโ€™s matches, last season’s numbers and pre-season friendlies, and are updated after every Gameweek as new information becomes available.

In the piece below, we study the dead-ball specialists and their teams in greater detail.

Tomori -> Robertson is on the cards... How is this team looking?

    Gazza
    TAA Robertson Lundstram
    Mane KDB Son Mount
    Vardy Abraham Jimenez
    ___
    Button; Soy Hayden Kelly

Should I play Mount or Soy btw?

A sheffield united fan to the rescue. Just the man I was looking for.

Honestly mate. I have not seen much of Sheffields games, but Lundstram has been amazing to own so far. Had him since gw1. Do he get into enough scoring positions to warrant playing him over Soy? United has a decent defence and I don't think you can keep a CS in that game.

I watched last match he played. He was really good and dangerous. Just check his stats and underlying stats. Imo he did hit the post and was very close to score.

Only thing that puts me off the CS is no Hendo... We won't let Rash, Martial and James run in behind or so I'd hope but long shots could be a problem. But in terms of Lundstram.... The guy has shocked us all, he's essentially playing the lampard role and is making so many late runs into the box and even finds himself outwide putting balls in. Definately our most threatening midfielder... Hit the post vs spurs with a great effort and could've had 5 vs Burnley

It's a really tough call.. Need to play two of the three (mount, lund and soy) but I have no clue who yet! Could be any of the two really. Good arguments to play either two.

In reality they all get 2 points. In my head Lund gets 12, Soy gets 7 and Mount gets 2.

tough call, but if you reason it to do i bench a midfielder vs a shaky defense, or do i bench a def playing as midfielder or a cb that plays cb. Yuo might lose out 6 points on Soy but it´s not like he´s scoring again. So for me, Mount and Lund ahead of Soy, but that is not to say that i don´t see Leicester CS

    Thoughts? 2FT 1.3 TB

    Hendo
    TAA Perreira Lund Tierney
    KDB Mount Mane Martial
    Abraham Vardy
    (Button, Rico, CHO, Connolly)

Thinking maybe Button to Foster and then a Foster, CHO, Connolly to Button, Tiel, Mousset next week?

Leaves a large benching headache. Also not too sure on bringing Foster in for the 1 gw. May just play no GK?

Not a bad idea tbf. Would get rid of the benching headache also. Do want Mousset though, he's looked on fire and again... Almost scored a great solo goal vs spurs and with the upcoming fixtures he'll do great. V cheap to bench if he starts to drop form though

Pending injury updates, Sterling and Greenwood to Maddison and Jimenez? I'm reluctant to lose Sterling but can't see much else that looks better. I may then bring TAA in next week.

    2 FT and 1.8 ITB

    Pope/Heaton
    VVD/Soyuncu/Lundstram/Rico/Willems
    Sterling/Mane/KDB/Mount/Cantwell
    Vardy/Abraham/Greenwood

It would have to be VVD out - bit sideways? It is something I am considering (maybe for TAA).

        1. FC Hakkebøf
          • 7 Years
          4 years, 4 months ago

It would, but you actually have a decent team for this week anyway. So you can sort the rest out next gameweek and captain Sterling this game week. Transfers are super valueable and the template changes from week to week at the moment.

But it is not the worst to do the transfers you suggested.

Personally I would get in TAA. Play Rico and Soy this week. Captain Sterling and reaccess next week.

How much value do you have racked up in KDB? How much would you loose, if you had to get him back?

I got KDB for a bargain (minimum price). No way I am ever gonna sell him unless he gets injured

I'd still keep. Too much value tied up in him still.

I would do what we talked about above, and then reaccess wether to sell Sterling or KDB next week.

How does the qualification system work? I believe Scotland can still qualify!

There are no play-offs after these qualifying groups for third place. Instead, the 16 countries who won their respective groups in the Nations League have the safety net of at least a play-off place if they fail to make the top two. England and Scotland are among those teams.

On wc and most of my drafts have been similar. Main difference has been Jimenez vs son vs salah (would mean only one of TAA and Robertson).

Also what are your thoughts on differentials? I normally enjoy having one in my team but since all the budget options from Leicester and Chelsea are firing I’m finding it hard to justify any.

Rashford nice finish again last night. Happy to have him in my team. I think he's not far off being a fantastic player. Just needs a bit more consistency in front of goal, but the more I see him the more he looks the real deal, just still a bit raw. Still only 22 which is a bit frightening

Ive been debating whether or not to get rashford for my wc team. 3 of his next 4 look hard on the surface. However, Sheffield will be without Henderson, spurs have been struggling, and city defense has been a mess. Also Man U looks so much better when they have both rashford and martial.

People seem to be a bit hard on him sometimes and forget how he is so young. Very few have been world class at his age

                  Hah.
Currently sticking as I would only want to offload Richarlison immediately after the Norwich game. He's burned me numerous times in the past.

Seems like a waste of two transfers and I have bigger fish to fry if I'm being honest with myself.

            A. KDB + Tomori—>BSilva/Pulisic/ DSilva/Martial + Robertson
            B. Jimenez + Tomori —> Ayew + Robertson

Actually, Kane and Son could be great differentials. I can do Mount for Son but my front 3 will require surgery to change.

I have enough to move Mount or Martial to Son but I am not convinced the move would be good. I have KDB and could do a radical downgrade to Son but he is my safe captaincy call if Mane or Vardy have issues.
                  Totally lost what to do.

Squad value takes a back seat to points; we all know that. Hence, leave transfers to as late as possible.
Anyway, that was the way of thinking.
International breaks and midweek comps can impact decision making but listening to the pressers seems to become a total waste of time.
Guys, tell me your tales of woe or success by transferring early. I cannot remember when we last had such a load of rubbish fed to us in terms of injury.
My obvious mistake was to take a gamble when KDB had an injury. HE INCREASED IN PRICE. Probably hurt me by about 10 points and .3 in TV

For players that are going to be a permanent stay, moving fast is what I try. Eg. Moving fast for Vardy or Tammy to get them in as we knew they are for the long haul. I recently did the same with Jimi as well

For Punts or risky transfers, I don't too much care for price increases.

There is some good reason not to do early transfers beside the injury thing, that is; is your thinking as good during a gameweek or just after than it is after some days thinking? We are different in that regards, me for example, i´m not so sure i do better calls later, but at least you give yourself time to think not only of that transfer you are thinking of but also lending some more thoughts on how that transfers affects your next transfers. Sometimes i found myself not regretting my early transfers as it is, but regretting it from a pricepoint pov for example.
And it could be different circumstances like; do you have a good first sub if any injuries does happen?, 1 or 2ft also plays a part in this (having 2Ft makes you having kind of an insurance transfer if things go wrong), is the move you make for an long term injured player, that kind of thing is things that to me at least plays a part of this early/late transfer debate.
It´s not as clear cut, and also what defines it? Duirng the gameweek? Just after the gameweek ended, or after a midweek with UCL?

If it were clear cut there would be no conversation. I have come to realise having Pulisic and Tielemans and Tielemans will be benched I know the 80% chance of at least 1 rotation/injury will be covered nicely. I have had 2.5 mil sitting in the bank for 3 weeks now and my choice is an upgrade to Son or spread the wealth in defenders. Also on my mind is using the BB when it suits me rather than fiddling with the whole side come DGW time to have a strong bench. I want to use it and forget about it.

About 40% own VVD, 30% TAA and 20% Robbo of the overall players. So are you looking for a relative differential? Or not? Probably will work out roughly the same anyway.

Bring Sterling in for Salah then C, for one week only? No TV will be lost in Salah.

I also have Maddison and Pulisic so injuries are a concern.
