Kane and Sterling impress as Mané subbed for Senegal

The final international break of 2019 is already winding down for some countries.

England played their last Euro 2020 qualifying match with a number of Fantasy Premier League assets impressing.

We’ve got all the latest in this Scout Notes article.

Euro 2020 qualifying

Kosovo 0-4 England

England saw Kosovo off by a 4-0 scoreline on Sunday

Harry Kane (£10.8m) and Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) were both in ruthless form for England as they beat Kosovo 4-0.

The scoreline perhaps flattered the Three Lions who did not dominate the final match of Euro 2020 qualifying as much as Gareth Southgate would have liked.

However, his key individuals displayed a clinical edge at the right times, especially in the closing stages of the encounter.

Leading the 4-3-3 attacking, Kane got himself a goal and an assist, lurking at the back post to make it 2-0 in the 79th minute and setting up substitute Mason Mount (£6.8m) for his first-ever England goal.

Sterling’s strengths in this one, deployed on the right flank of the attack (usually playing on the left for his club), was his creativity.

It was his cross that was deflected into Kane’s path for 2-0 and he played a perfectly weighted through-ball to substitute Marcus Rashford (£8.6m).

The recent resurgence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£6.2m) continued in England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier.

He provided the assist as Harry Winks (£5.3m) waltzed through the Kosovo defence early-on to make it 1-0.

That attacking return came after five goals in his previous six outings for club and country.

Unfortunately, it appears that Jurgen Klopp is keeping the former Arsenal man mostly for competitions outside of the Premier League. Oxlade-Chamberlain last started a league match in Gameweek 5 and has managed just 66 minutes since Gameweek 9 from three substitute appearances.

England were less convincing in defence with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) caught out of position when losing the ball on occasion.

Tyrone Mings (£4.6m) also made several sloppy errors after a less than impressive outing at Wolves in Gameweek 12.

Dean Henderson (£4.7m), Jordan Pickford (£5.5m), John Stones (£5.3m), Danny Rose (£5.4m), James Maddison (£7.5m), Tammy Abraham (£8.0m) and Callum Wilson (£7.8m) were all unused substitutes.

England XI (4-3-3): Pope; Chilwell, Mings, Maguire, Alexander-Arnold (Tomori 84′); Winks, Rice, Oxlade-Chamberlain (Mount 72′); Hudson-Odoi (Rashford 59′), Kane, Sterling.

Luxembourg 0-2 Portugal

Bernardo Silva provided an assist in Portugal’s win over Luxembourg

There was plenty of Premier League presence for Portugal as they beat Luxembourg on Sunday.

Playing in a central midfield role, Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) provided the assist for their first of the night.

He played an excellent chip through ball to Bruno Fernandes who lashed home to make it 1-0.

Diogo Jota (£6.1m), who came on in the 71st minute came close to finding the net himself as he bundled an effort towards goal, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to smash it over the line.

Rui Patrício (£5.2m) and Ricardo Pereira (£6.3m) played 90 minutes while Joao Moutinho (£5.3m) replaced Pizzi in the 62nd minute and Rúben Neves (£5.3m) featured in stoppage time.

Serbia 2-2 Ukraine

West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko (£6.0m) played 90 minutes for Ukraine as they drew 2-2 in Serbia.

Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic (£6.7m) was involved sparingly in the match, coming on for the final 14 minutes.

Albania 0-2 France

Mendy got 75 minutes under his belt against Albania

Just three Premier League players started for France in their 2-0 win over Albania.

Moussa Sissoko (£4.9m) and Olivier Giroud (£6.6m) were the only two that got 90 minutes with the latter hitting the post.

Benjamin Mendy (£5.9m) started the night at left wing-back in a 3-4-1-2 system but was replaced by Lucas Digne (£5.9m) after 75 minutes as he continues his rehabilitation following recent lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Tanguy Ndombèlé (£5.9m), N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m), Matteo Guendouzi (£4.7m) and Kurt Zouma (£4.7m) were all unused substitutes.

Andorra 0-2 Turkey

The ever-increasing ownership of Çağlar Söyüncü (£4.9m) will have been pleased with Turkey head coach Senol Gunes over the weekend.

With the Crescent-Stars having already booked their place at Euro 2020 with a 1-1 draw against Iceland last week, the Leicester centre-back was one of nine players left out of the squad for Sunday’s trip to Andorra.

That should see Söyüncü return to the King Power Stadium fresh and ready for a Gameweek 13 visit to Brighton.

Everton centre-forward Cenk Tosun (£5.7m) ended up missing both of Turkey’s matches through a groin injury.

Moldova 1-2 Iceland

Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.5m) had a mixed outing on Sunday as Iceland beat Moldova 2-0.

Despite scoring in the 65th minute, the Everton midfielder missed yet another penalty later in the match.

Sigurdsson’s record from the spot has been particularly poor recently and this latest miss is his fifth from a possible nine that he has taken for club and country since the 2018 World Cup.

2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Mané played just 45 minutes of Senegal’s win over Eswatini

Sadio Mané (£12.1m) owners need not worry too much about his half-time withdrawal from Senegal’s 4-1 win over Eswatini.

There had been fears over the Liverpool man’s fitness ahead of a Gameweek 13 trip to Crystal Palace.

However, the reason for Mané coming off at half-time was precautionary in nature, the player picking up a yellow card and his international coaches hoping to avoid a suspension in the second period.

Meanwhile, Cheikhou Kouyaté (£4.9m) played 90 minutes for Senegal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) played 90 minutes for Gabon as they beat Angola 2-1, registering an assist for Denis Bouanga.

Alex Iwobi (£5.7m) scored for Nigeria as they had to come from behind to beat Lesotho 4-2.

Southampton’s Moussa Djenepo (£5.2m) found the net for Mali as they won 2-0 while Naby Keïta (£5.8m) played 90 minutes for Guinea as they beat Namibia by the same scoreline.

International Friendlies

Lithuania’s 1-0 win over New Zealand was one of only two international friendlies on Sunday but there was no FPL involvement for either Chris Wood (£6.2m) or Winston Reid (£3.9m).

After their involvement in the 3-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, they were both given the remainder of the international break off.

The other friendly match was between Brazil and Argentina’s respective Under-23s squads, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli (£4.5m) playing the best part of an hour.

Will be playing him over Tielemens in gw18-19 who face liverpool and city.

Is overcompensating in anticipation of benching during Christmas schedule is a mistake ??

I had a full playing bench last season & only required 2nd sub maximum. Seeing a lot of teams with cash normalised along the attacking 8 players (i don't like 6m sitting on bench !)

Also, Lundstram Rico are blessings this season. So i think i can get away with Donkey as my 8tb attacker (2 emergency pointer)

What are your thoughts this ??

Agreed. At least one 4.5m or lower fodder. Lundstram and Rico have made very strong subs and that last slot will very rarely play.

        Yeah.
Also, important point IMO is team structure too. Selling big hitters atm because they aren't firing & spreading the cash too much can cause hits when they start hitting goals 😀
Can be a scramble to sell midpriced Midfielders to get Raz/Mo back when (not if !) They hit top gear.

Lundstram/Soyuncu Rico Donkey it is atm. Will stay same.

If the premium do not quickly fire again ... people won't need that much money so that benching £6.0M-ish is considered viable (some may dislike bench points but some may not bother). The crunching time is when suddenly we need premium players ... "the distributed-fund approach" will potentially need another transfer to burn or take a hit to respond ... which is kind of fine!

    6. bench boost for every gamew…

i think since we are blessed with some very cheap defenders going for a Grealish as fifth mid during christmas is both affordable and it gives you headache only if everyone is fit, but injuries will happen and it potentially saves you a transfer which can work as a sword during that congested fixtureschedule. Let´s just say, Lundstram gets his fifth caution, small knock here or there, out for one game but not more, etc. Then it´s nice to have someone not Dendoncker to fill inn?
Saying that, Jorginho might be my fifth mid if not Grealish

I would downgrade KDB with a view to upgrading the bench - plenty of good mid priced mid options - could switch to 3-5-2 and have a great 1st sub every week

According to David Ornstein, Haaland's father was spotted at Carrington training ground.

Ole has also sent his most trusted scout, Simon Wells, to monitor him. Haaland has adopted Ronaldo's diet and is determined to be the best player in the world.

The interest is definitely real. However, Mino Raiola's demands will likely be ridiculous, and could be the main obstacle.

He and his father's have concerns about going to a big club too soon, as he is only 19.

He wants gametime, so would prefer to move to a middleish tier club first to continue his development. This is according to Ingrid Halstensen, a Norweigen correspondent, who apparently spoke to them.

Temporarily. He would get gametime and a possible platform into the the Champion's League, which he apparently adores. He sits in his car playing the UCL theme loudly to himself every day.

He wouldn't start every week at clubs like City, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid etc.

He brought us Zlatan and Pogba. He obviously favours dealing with United because of the money they're willing to throw his way. Without being in the Champion's League, I fear the only way to attract young talent of this calibre is with the checkbook. But it wouldn't be the same as signing an ageing mercenary, this lad is hungry for success.

United only have Martial who can competently play up front, and even he's not perfect. We once had Berbatov warming the bench while Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez were banging in goals.

              That's a valid argument.
But as i said I'd prefer RW/CM/CAM instead of # 9 this transfer window.
Rashford/Tony can play up top. Don't see James as a RW as he's just like both mentioned earlier. Likes cutting in on his favored right foot, so LW in all honesty. But that's just me

He is a goal poacher, creativity is what United needs. They will get an upgrade on current pen takers-)

When you look at United up front, they´re not stacked with many options and Martial is a crock so he´ll get plenty of gametime. Not sure he´s ready yet and he is a player which relies on counter attack and creativity behind him to function.

It is very likely this week yes... I think Sterling is the best captain option this week. Chelsea LOVES going forward and that will open up plenty of space for the city attackers. I expect Crystal Palace to park the bus.

Chelsea has Kante back now so I expect a tight back 6 with him and Jorginho in front of the defense. They could play safe and try and hit City on the counter, it worked for others so if Lampard is smart he'll follow suit.

      Depends on who you kept?

You need some Liverpool coverage - Firmino and Salah are not the answer. Has to be Mane

You need some MCI coverage - Aguero, Sterling, and KDB are options but none have been good for about a half-dozen fixtures. Aguero has not broken 6 points in 6-weeks, KDB has to go back 6-weeks for the last captain-size haul, and sterling has one haul in 9 weeks. If not for Watford, the MCI boys would be selling for about 0.2 to 0.4 less price.

Hey, thinking of doing De Bruyne, Otamendi > Mane, Soyunchu for free.
Then potentially Sterling > Salah next GW

    Any good?

Also considering trying to get Robbo or a Leicester mid in

    Team:

    Pope (4.0)
    TAA Lund Tomori (Rico) (Ota)
    KDB Sterling Mount Martial (Nakamba)
    Jimi Vardy Abraham

      Quick answer is hell-yes

Otamendi is a dead asset and can't get you cleansheets because he is a terrible defender. Slow, unintelligent, sloppy, and old.

KDB is a baller but seems something is broke in the MCI approach. Maybe without Fernandinho holding in the midfield, the team cannot be fluid?

Nothing is broke in city's approach. They have just lost 3-1 to the European champions and are missing their best centre back. People who are scrambling to go no city will soon be working out how to get city back in.

Everybody is in the Vardy Party this week

Mane is on the road versus the defenders of Selhurst Park. Dem boys are fighters.

Sterling only lately scoring on Kosovo and Bulgaria and bad Italian teams. Not in the EPL

Good watch Jonty. My take is palace will park the bus and make it real hard for liverpool to score

Meanwhile brighton leicester could be very open game as potters is an attacked minded manager and being at home they will push more in attack leaving behind gaps for Vardy to exploit.

Thus Vardy is marginally better captiency shout than Nane

Salah's flag has really screwed up my plans (actually had a plan for once)

    Pope
    VVD Lundstram Rico
    Salah Sterling Maddison Mount
    Vardy Abraham Jimenez

    Button Cantwell Otamendi Kelly
    0.9itb 1ft

Was set on Otamendi to Soyuncu this week and sterling to mane next.

Now feel like I need to do Salah to mane this week (unless it looks like salah will play)?

      Pope Henderson
      TAA Robertson Lundstram Soyuncu Rico
      Mane Pulisic Maddison Martial McGinn
      Jimenez Abraham Vardy

      Headache or Christmas proof?

McGinn obviously being the 8th attacker,
TAA Robertson Lundstram the starting defenders.

Alternative may be Pope and Henderson to Schmeichel and McCarthy(or fodder), then downgrade Soyuncu to Charlie Taylor?

Agree - however we have the fortunate position of have Rico and lunds at 4.0 or as close to it as people got when moving for them so a little cash invested in 1st sub still allows for a great bench
