Kane and Sterling impress as Mané subbed for Senegal

The final international break of 2019 is already winding down for some countries.

England played their last Euro 2020 qualifying match with a number of Fantasy Premier League assets impressing.

We’ve got all the latest in this Scout Notes article.

Euro 2020 qualifying

Kosovo 0-4 England

England saw Kosovo off by a 4-0 scoreline on Sunday

Harry Kane (£10.8m) and Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) were both in ruthless form for England as they beat Kosovo 4-0.

The scoreline perhaps flattered the Three Lions who did not dominate the final match of Euro 2020 qualifying as much as Gareth Southgate would have liked.

However, his key individuals displayed a clinical edge at the right times, especially in the closing stages of the encounter.

Leading the 4-3-3 attacking, Kane got himself a goal and an assist, lurking at the back post to make it 2-0 in the 79th minute and setting up substitute Mason Mount (£6.8m) for his first-ever England goal.

Sterling’s strengths in this one, deployed on the right flank of the attack (usually playing on the left for his club), was his creativity.

It was his cross that was deflected into Kane’s path for 2-0 and he played a perfectly weighted through-ball to substitute Marcus Rashford (£8.6m).

The recent resurgence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£6.2m) continued in England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier.

He provided the assist as Harry Winks (£5.3m) waltzed through the Kosovo defence early-on to make it 1-0.

That attacking return came after five goals in his previous six outings for club and country.

Unfortunately, it appears that Jurgen Klopp is keeping the former Arsenal man mostly for competitions outside of the Premier League. Oxlade-Chamberlain last started a league match in Gameweek 5 and has managed just 66 minutes since Gameweek 9 from three substitute appearances.

England were less convincing in defence with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) caught out of position when losing the ball on occasion.

Tyrone Mings (£4.6m) also made several sloppy errors after a less than impressive outing at Wolves in Gameweek 12.

Dean Henderson (£4.7m), Jordan Pickford (£5.5m), John Stones (£5.3m), Danny Rose (£5.4m), James Maddison (£7.5m), Tammy Abraham (£8.0m) and Callum Wilson (£7.8m) were all unused substitutes.

England XI (4-3-3): Pope; Chilwell, Mings, Maguire, Alexander-Arnold (Tomori 84′); Winks, Rice, Oxlade-Chamberlain (Mount 72′); Hudson-Odoi (Rashford 59′), Kane, Sterling.

Luxembourg 0-2 Portugal

Bernardo Silva provided an assist in Portugal’s win over Luxembourg

There was plenty of Premier League presence for Portugal as they beat Luxembourg on Sunday.

Playing in a central midfield role, Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) provided the assist for their first of the night.

He played an excellent chip through ball to Bruno Fernandes who lashed home to make it 1-0.

Diogo Jota (£6.1m), who came on in the 71st minute came close to finding the net himself as he bundled an effort towards goal, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to smash it over the line.

Rui Patrício (£5.2m) and Ricardo Pereira (£6.3m) played 90 minutes while Joao Moutinho (£5.3m) replaced Pizzi in the 62nd minute and Rúben Neves (£5.3m) featured in stoppage time.

Serbia 2-2 Ukraine

West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko (£6.0m) played 90 minutes for Ukraine as they drew 2-2 in Serbia.

Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic (£6.7m) was involved sparingly in the match, coming on for the final 14 minutes.

Albania 0-2 France

Mendy got 75 minutes under his belt against Albania

Just three Premier League players started for France in their 2-0 win over Albania.

Moussa Sissoko (£4.9m) and Olivier Giroud (£6.6m) were the only two that got 90 minutes with the latter hitting the post.

Benjamin Mendy (£5.9m) started the night at left wing-back in a 3-4-1-2 system but was replaced by Lucas Digne (£5.9m) after 75 minutes as he continues his rehabilitation following recent lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Tanguy Ndombèlé (£5.9m), N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m), Matteo Guendouzi (£4.7m) and Kurt Zouma (£4.7m) were all unused substitutes.

Andorra 0-2 Turkey

The ever-increasing ownership of Çağlar Söyüncü (£4.9m) will have been pleased with Turkey head coach Senol Gunes over the weekend.

With the Crescent-Stars having already booked their place at Euro 2020 with a 1-1 draw against Iceland last week, the Leicester centre-back was one of nine players left out of the squad for Sunday’s trip to Andorra.

That should see Söyüncü return to the King Power Stadium fresh and ready for a Gameweek 13 visit to Brighton.

Everton centre-forward Cenk Tosun (£5.7m) ended up missing both of Turkey’s matches through a groin injury.

Moldova 1-2 Iceland

Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.5m) had a mixed outing on Sunday as Iceland beat Moldova 2-0.

Despite scoring in the 65th minute, the Everton midfielder missed yet another penalty later in the match.

Sigurdsson’s record from the spot has been particularly poor recently and this latest miss is his fifth from a possible nine that he has taken for club and country since the 2018 World Cup.

2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Mané played just 45 minutes of Senegal’s win over Eswatini

Sadio Mané (£12.1m) owners need not worry too much about his half-time withdrawal from Senegal’s 4-1 win over Eswatini.

There had been fears over the Liverpool man’s fitness ahead of a Gameweek 13 trip to Crystal Palace.

However, the reason for Mané coming off at half-time was precautionary in nature, the player picking up a yellow card and his international coaches hoping to avoid a suspension in the second period.

Meanwhile, Cheikhou Kouyaté (£4.9m) played 90 minutes for Senegal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) played 90 minutes for Gabon as they beat Angola 2-1, registering an assist for Denis Bouanga.

Alex Iwobi (£5.7m) scored for Nigeria as they had to come from behind to beat Lesotho 4-2.

Southampton’s Moussa Djenepo (£5.2m) found the net for Mali as they won 2-0 while Naby Keïta (£5.8m) played 90 minutes for Guinea as they beat Namibia by the same scoreline.

International Friendlies

Lithuania’s 1-0 win over New Zealand was one of only two international friendlies on Sunday but there was no FPL involvement for either Chris Wood (£6.2m) or Winston Reid (£3.9m).

After their involvement in the 3-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, they were both given the remainder of the international break off.

The other friendly match was between Brazil and Argentina’s respective Under-23s squads, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli (£4.5m) playing the best part of an hour.

At a little bit of a cross roads with this team, any input welcome-

    Pope
    TAA Lundstram Rico
    Sterling Salah Tielmans Mount
    Abraham Connolly Vardy

Skelt Soyuncu Yarmalenko Diop 2.5M ITB

If no injuries this week doing the Salah to Mane then later-

    1. Simple switch of Yarm to Martial, leaves 0.8 for Diop out
    2. Connolly to Ings ( I know! just a feeling!), Yarm to McGinn, gives one decent sub over busy period, 1.3m itb

1 is so simple but tempted by 2. Any thoughts or other ideas really welcome

If Salah’s confirmed fit I think I’d just keep him - he’s on pens and while Mane has outdone himself recently I would expect Salah to outscore him longer term (especially with pens)

That aside, I prefer option 1. I don’t see Connolly as being an issue at all and Yarm to Martial feels a bigger upgrade - especially when you can move Diop (maybe even to PVA for an interesting punt given Palace’s fixtures - sorry, not sure whether 0.8’s enough or not)

Oh! I didn't mean the people here on FFS, Martial is certainly a great option, apologies. I meant casual/recreational/less serious United fans would ALL get martial and/or Rashford in, and their numbers are higher which cause the rapid price rises, more so than the users of this website and other serious players.

Man Utd are still the third most lucrative club in the world, behind Real Madrid and Barca. In fact these are the only three clubs who rank amongst the top five in all four categories of matchday, broadcasting, commercial and brand revenue. The managers might come and go but the fans aren't leaving anywhere sharpish.

People prefer picking him over Tielemans Maddison or maybe Jimenez are really not wrong, saves them a transfer of two as utds fixtures toughens up. He is a great option for gw 18 however

Two tricky decisions this GW, armand and Mount or not to Mount?

            Cappo:
            A. Sterling
            B. Vardy
            C. Richarlison
            D. Mane

            Bench one:
            1. Mount
            2. Janmaat
            3. James

I think the game at Sheffield will be a 1-0 or 1-1 at best. The City game could be anything from 1-1 to 3-3.

Banking on a FT in mid to buttom tier clashes is risky imo. It could easily go either way. Some might say ''have a look at Sheffield United''. But they aren't exactly are mid to buttom tier team at the moment. They are Burnley 2.0 (the Burnley that qualified for EL that is)

City vs Chelsea could be a high scoring affair. Benching Mount is insane imo. Rather bench James.

When push comes to shove, I always bench the budget defenders in these kind of situations.

Oh and if your playing Lundstram, it makes sense to bench James and play Mount.

If your playing James it makes sense to bench Lundstram and play Mount.

Reasoning for both statements: Surely you expect Mount to have a higher chance of getting attacking returns than Lundstram?

                    The confusion is total 😀

I would cap Vardy vs Brighton who are good home but without both first choice cb, and do concede goals at home.
Bench James, if United score his not the one involved and Chelsea stands a good chance vs that horror defense, Mount on set pieces vs shambolic City you cannot defend them. Is there anytime you play Janmaat it´s now, good home game and plays OOP

Just send you three comments in a row lol. But I like the look of this lineup. Personally I would consider playing James over Lundstram as I don't think either team will keep a CS and that James has a higher chance of grabbing a goal. That being said, I understand that you are afraid to not include Lundstram based on EO

Yes he is. Gunn has been in bad form this season, and the tail end of last season as well. Alex, while not much better, can at least put in a few saves.
When in high confidence, Gunn is the superior player. At the moment its been shot to smitherins. Alex needs to play, we cant let Angus continue to suffer a hit to his mentality every week.

              Unpopular opinion.

Mount is done as an FPL asset. 1 assist in last 4 against (NEW bur wat CPL) is not good enough especially considering chelsea scored 9 goals in that period.

              Anyone beg to differ?

Him being involved in only 1 goal in last 9 chelsea goals doesn't support the statement "he's unlucky"

Emergence of Pulisic has clearly affected his fpl points potential. He's taking fever shots and seems to be the assisting the assister type of player of late

He kept up with Pulisic and Willian for shot attempts but he fired most from outside the box.

Stay wise, Pulisic looks best for goal and Willian is ahead of Mount on potential assist too.

Not sure if it's tactical change or something that affect his game.

So basically he's playing deeper and rarely getting into the box?

                  Doesnt sound promising.

Just a bit more involvements in the middle, not significant deeper from a look on heatmap comparison with early games.

                    GW 1-6
                    Willian (0G 0A), Pulisic (0G 2A), and Mount (3G 0A)

                    GW 7-12
                    Willian (2G 3A), Pulisic (5G 1A), and Mount (1G 2A)

A bit disappointed lately but they might take turn.

                it´s more like a prediction

6m mid playing for Chelsea who scores a lot, chances are that he continues to deliver points, looks decent last games without getting goals or assist

              1. Robertson KDB Mount (bench soy)

              1) reluctant to downgrade Sterling as it could be goalfest in MCI v CHE
              2) just 0.2 ITB ; not enough fund to directly upgrade Mount to Maddison
              3) can do Mount -> Tielemans but not sure if he should take 3rd spot of LEI
              4) have 1 non-playing bench (Hanley) but no clear option in 4.0 - 4.2

With 2 FTs now, what would you suggest as priority to manage please?

              Pope - Button
              TAA - Soyuncu - Tomori - Lund - Hanley
              Mane - Sterling - KDB - Mount - Dendoncker
              Vardy - Abraham - Jimenez

              Pope - Button

team loking great considering you have 2FTs, I'd prob just ship out Hanley and save FT.

Thanks. That's my latest thought too. Not much choice that I can do now with 4.2 though. Any ideas?

                  1) Kelly (4.1) -- not sure if he will start again
                  2) Taylor (4.2)
                  3) Williams (4.0) -- will Ole give him more chance?
                  4) Reid (3.9) -- gain more budget to spend elsewhere

Williams did look good but it's stretch to expect him to be a regular at this stage...keeps you 0.2itb at least and reassess with 2FT next week

Thanks. I think it will be 3 or 4 that I would do.

The only reason I consider Reid is 0.3 ITB will open my choice to do Sterling -> Salah and double LIV attacks.

Thank you. I explored double LIV DF option and see that I might get the same CS from rotating Soy / Tomori / Lund from now to 18, so I'm not sure about the double.

I see 2 expensive punts in that Defense 😮
Hate Arsenal Defenders as they hate CS's.
Would save some cash and get Robbo instead of him when Robbo is fit.

As for this GW, I'd get Mousset to burn FT & bench him.

No point in commenting on the usual suspects so:
Aurier a well priced player who can earn you points. Expect a lot of rotation in wing backs though.
James a fair differential but better coming in from the left. Martial back will stop that happening.
Auba is a strange one. At 11 mil he is expnsive considering his involvement in the game.
Move Lascelles. He is out for 6 weeks plus. Ederson and Pope is overkill on keepers so Ederson must go. Even with a hit move both out and get a 4.5 keeper and double up on Leicester/Sheffield defender.

Driving home in heavy traffic yesterday and though to listen to a couple of podcasts.
The first one was meet the manager with Marc Southerns. The one thing that stuck in my brain was "accept your mistakes" Don't just hold onto a player because 2 weeks previously you took a hit to get him in.
The next podcast was Andy with the 2 Cockney boys.
Andy says he needs Lundstrum but it does not feel right taking a hit when he got Maguire in 2 weeks before. Andy, listen to your buddies.
