Scoutcast crew tackles how to plan for gruelling winter period

The Scoutcast returns tonight in the build-up to Gameweek 13, starting at 20:00 GMT on our YouTube channel.

As the international draws to a close we are looking ahead to the next round of action as well as the upcoming winter schedule.

Between now and the end of the calendar there will be eight Gameweeks so it’s important to get our planning just right.

In episode 308, Joe will be joined by Tom Freeman and Holly Shand.

Between the three of them, they boast a total of 17 finishes inside the top 10k, so we’re expecting some excellent insight.

As well as discussing the frantic festive period, Mason Mount (£6.8m) comes under scrutiny in light of Christian Pulisic’s (£7.4m) recent form and the mid-price Leicester options.

Meanwhile, many Fantasy managers are contemplating how to invest in Liverpool over the coming weeks with the age-old debate about double-defence or double-attack the focus of discussion tonight.

Could quite possibly be set up from GW15 with the below ... Looks v segzi imo.

Would start with a CHO to Mcginn this week possibly as he has the better fixture than mousset

    Hendo
    TAA Perreira Lund
    KDB Mount Mane Son
    Tammy Vardy Mousset
    (Button, Rico, Williams, Mcginn)

Any truth in the rumour David Moyes is in the running for the Spurs job?? Or has his replacement at ManU got it sown up?

I dont think everyone actually votes for "Best captain" anyway. They vote for who they are captaining, definitely don't vote for a player they don't own. For eg, Aguero was probably best captain in some weeks but I never owned him, probably still thought he is the best option but never voted for him.

if thats the case (and it likley is) the Poll is useless and certainly not a 'Best Captain' vote!

I prefer to know who people are actually captaining over who is best captain anyway. Which means it would make sense to just rename it Captain poll or "who is your captain this week" because alomst everyone is voting for their own captain choice anyway.

                      i dont think so.
it says "Best captain for GW13?"at the top of the poll, that guides the majority as opposed to "who will you captain in GW23"

I think ownership bias would be high. Dont think too many would vote for a player they don't own.

thinking about it, Levys plan is clearly to get a good manager in the hopes of persuading some players going out of contract to stay ie. Eriksen

Read that NEW has second lowest possession across Europe this season. Could any football tactician explain why?

They have a lone striker up top (Joelinton) who is excellent in hold up play. In midfield ASM and Almiron are excellent dribblers. Longstaff and Hayden are at least above average ball winners.

earlier this year he said he wants to stay another 5 years at spu*s. I think he might be open to the idea of moving to Arsenal.

And he is the perfect candidate for us, hard to hate the guy since he's so good with the media and usually humble/modest, brings a system of play and most importantly has managed a team at the top level in the premier league and CL, something that can only be said about Jose amongst the available managers.

Why are folks acting like JM is a great coach that will rescue TH?

This a brooding, angry old man that could not make Man Utd work. He seems not to get on well will millenials and you still have Vertgonhen hitting on his mates’ WAGS.

There is a chance that TH play a bit better, but an equal chance that JM only lasts 6 weeks and TH has to call on another geezer- maybe Wenger

He is just 56, good age for a manager. Can manage at the top level for 10-12 more years easily. I think time off from the management and being a pundit could have given him the breather he needed to get back to positive winning ways like we saw at Porto, Inter and Chelsea.

Over the years observing Jose he does seem to have a bit of the “arm around the shoulder” type character

If/When he gets that feeling of warmth/appreciation particularly from the core groups of fans, media, players - he’s close to unstoppable

But if/when he doesn’t.... things don’t go so well

He tends to start well at most clubs, and sometimes that start spirals into something terrifying for opposing teams - but equally he hasn’t ever really created extended periods of sustainable dominance, maybe he’s at the time in his career where that’s going to come though & if he has found a good fit where he’ll have those arms around his shoulder, spurs could be onto a winner

Still got my FT, would you spend it? On what? Is Maddison fit? Not particularly thrilled about having 4 players in the MCI CHE game, or double LEI attack against Ryan

    Ryan
    TAA Soy Rico
    Sterling (c) KDB Maddison Mount
    Vardy Abraham Rashford

    Lundy Dendonker Kelly

Feels like MANC-CHE will be a high scoring game, so 4 attacking players in that game is fine

Team looks good enough to save. Planning to change Mount to Pulisic? Or sticking?

        Thanks for the reply

Mount to Pulisic sounds like a luxury transfer to me, I feel like Pulisic MAY have been through a purple patch, and that in general, Mount is more nailed and will continue ticking over all season long.

Having said that in the form he's shown (Pulisic) - if he carries on I may triple up on Chelsea's good fixtures and go Maddison > Pulisic instead

Look @ the attacks they faced @ Amex.
          Everton Spurs Norwich

Play out from the back, give space in behind, don't go long as they used to be previously.
Will give Vardy space to run in behind. Also, takes a lot of shots (Ryan save points shows that), add that with Dunk ban. I'm all IN

Fair, But dont think they will concede more than 2 goals. I can see a 1-2 win for Lei. Happy to own Vardy and Chilwell for that one and Captain Raz, a huge differential this week, guaranteed to start with Bilva out.

Yeah, Vardy is a close second. I just have a gut feeling with Sterling, and I much prefer a home captain to an away one

If Salah is injured, and Mourinho sees Kane as something like his Drogba figure from the Chelsea days, the attacking centre of the team that everything is geared towards...

Then I’d actually entertain Salah > Kane and triple pool D (maybe Allison + fullbacks to still allow Lundy & a Leicester defender starting)

      All ifs & buts though

Kane at 10.8 with a license to actually play up front looks to have potential & needs monitoring

Poch, Eriksen, Kane to all be on Man Utd’s books come January? Ole moves upstairs to a newly created “vice presential director and chief of global important things” role light of his outstanding service to the club

That's what exactly in my mind too. No need to sack Ole. Just give him some another role 😉

Dont think Kane would want to work with Poch again. Think one of the biggest reasons for their recent dip was Kanes positioning as a deeper False 9 sort of striker, with Sons average position always higher up.

          • 14 Years

That’s possibly very true - proof will be in the pudding over Kane’s next 5-10 games as to how much was Poch actually limiting him

He did get 60 league goals in 2 seasons under Poch very recently, but the role change was quite jarring

With no clear cap options this gw, is it worth it to take a punt and put the armband on Richarlison? Mane, Vardy seem to be the top cap contenders but don't see them getting big hauls tbh.

    Anyone considering Wesley from gw18-25?

During that period he faces (SOT NOR wat bur bha WAT bou) in 7 of the following 8 fixtures

Btw for a fact Only the current top 4 + spurs has scored more goals than Aston Villa.

Really like the creativity behind him with likes of Grealish + McGinn providing plenty of chances

    1. PastaFasul

Wesley is cheap...only returned double digits once (vs. Norwich) averaging 4.0 ppm so far. Maybe with those fixtures his form will improve. Most would go for McGinn...cheaper than Wesley, and a mid, better ppm.

Yh a villa mid would be the priority and better option for sure. but i got a hunch that wesley would be great differential in Christmas period

There's a reason he's cheap. He's a poor enough striker. Poor opposition won't improve him that much. Ings or Mousset look a better bet.

Hi guys, posted yesterday but looking for some more opinions on this week's conundrum. Any thoughts much appreciated as always!

    Bench one

    McGinn (NEW)

    Abraham (mci)

Currently on Chilwell but not sure its the right call
