Scoutcast crew discuss FPL stubbornness and Spurs assets

The Scoutcast crew have a busy evening of Fantasy Premier League discussion ahead of them.

Join Joe, Az and Lee from 20:00 GMT to 21:00 GMT for episode 309 on our YouTube channel.

While Spurs and Manchester City play their latest Champions League matches, our panel of pundits will be focussing on these two teams in particular.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho in north London has the potential to unlock several Fantasy assets while Sergio Aguero’s (£11.9m) injury could see Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) get a run of starts.

Meanwhile, our talking point revolves around the concept of stubbornness in FPL.

How long is too long to wait for a player to become good? At what point do you recognise that the in-form option you don’t own won’t stop scoring?

Tune in shortly to find out!

Got 2 free transfers and 2.6 m in bank. Would you transfer Diop to

A Aurier (make move tonight pre price rise and play over Lundstram )
B Charlie Taylor (and bench). This would give funds for Martial to Son and Mount to Pulisic for -4 if wanted to make these moves
    C Cahill (and bench)
D Robertson (and play over Lundstram) and be left with 0 m in bank

    Pope
    TAA Söyüncü Lundstram
    Mané KDB Mount Martial
    Vardy Abraham Jiménez

    McGovern Rico Cantwell Diop *

Pulisic for me...Willian is a fantastic player and love watching him play but he has flattered to decieve FPL points wise, Pulisic looks to have plenty of goals in him from the eye test.

they were shocking in the first half by all accounts but that win should add more confidence for the weekend now, Son is a top top FPL pick imo (nonowner)

Leicester's form and next 4 fixtures are just too good to ship Tielemans I feel...I'm actually getting him in this week. Could you get him in for somebody else?

Current moves this week are Raz, Lowton, Connolly to Tiele, Soy and Ings. Team will be:

            Pope
            TAA Soy Lund
            Mane KDB Tiele Mount
            Vardy Tammy Ings

            Button Dend Diop Willems

Could get Son instead of Tiele for "Spurs cover" but i'm not feeling the hype.

Well, we’ve had two games now to monitor Mourinho’s Spurs.

    Positives:
+!Alli more advanced in a #10 role. Standing ovation for his performance this evening.
+ Kane looking less sluggish. Seems to need decent delivery from wide (Aurier/Eriksen) to be at his best.
+ Son and Moura started both games on the flanks. Perhaps more tracking back responsibility than under Poch.
+ Aurier plenty of attacking threat.

    Negatives
    - Spurs look awful without Eriksen. Not sure how Mourinho squeezes him in without sacrificing ball winning capabilities at CM.
    - Very vulnerable at the back. Dier looks rusty in the holding mid role and Aurier simply doesn’t want to defend. Foyth at RB might allow Dier to be dropped for Eriksen.
    - Reduced minutes for Moura in both games.

Still early days but gut feel is that Alli might be the best FPL asset. I’m tempted to avoid altogether if Eriksen isn’t starting games. Moura an excellent value option but maybe it’s he that makes way for Eriksen.

Early days under Jose but the best and only options worth considering imo are:
      1. Kane
      1. Son
      2. Aurier (due to kind price, attacking threat and the hope that Jose will tighten them up)
      3. Alli (but not fully convinced his form will translate to enough FPL points)
      4. Moura

Hey mate! I’m not convinced by Son yet, at his price anyway. Is he captainable? Even under Poch with few defensive responsibilities, he was erratic. I think we’re seeing him provide width more than floating around Kane - which is a shame as he’s an average player out wide. If he was 8m, sure, but 9.6m feels too much.

I’d probably spend the extra on Kane. 10.8m looks competitive and he’s getting his mojo back.

It didn’t initially until Sissoko came on for Moura. Eriksen simply slotted in alongside Winks in a 4231.

Sissoko played quite narrow allowing Aurier to get forward. It became a bit of a lob sided 442 but always with Eriksen as a CM.

Want Aurier but Spurs dont have many CS.

Son in awkward price. Dont want to lose KDB. With Mou , maybe u are right, winger maybe have to track back and limit Son's potential.

Wait and see for me. Maybe after 5 games. No need to rush.

Five games takes them to the Chelsea game, the first real tough opposition they face, so that seems enough time to see the whole picture. By which time Jose will be squeezing Levy for every penny he can, for the transfer window. Probably changing the line up again. 🙂

Morning, stick to my slightly odder plan of A or follow the crowd with B?

    Pope
    Soyuncu TAA Lundstram
    Sterling Tielmans Mane Mount
    Vardy Abraham Connolly*
Skelt McGinn Rico Diop 1ft 2.9M ITB

    Plan currently-
    A. Connolly to Ings (1.5M ITB for potential Mount to Pulisic and Diop transfer)
    But seen
    B. Connolly to Jiminez can be done (0.2 currently left)

Liking A with the extra cash left over but B seems more sensible? Any input or other ideas really welcome

Template has served me well and ahead of schedule so far, no hits, team value 105.8, ranking 27K.

Think 2nd part of the season is the time to go for differentials, and using team value to get the most out of the chips for blanks/DGWs.

In the same boat as you. Who to bench jim or lund. The way I see it. Lund has attack threat. CS potential. Jim playing in Europe. So not clear cut. I'm waiting to see what happens in midweek. Then make your decision.

Looking at stats Sheffield have only blanked once away from home. And wolves have only kept one CS at home. So good chance Sheffield will score. Will lund be involved. Jim has 3/3 at home. He has blanked 50% of home matches. That and the team in Europe. Makes you think

Given that Lundy gets 6p for every goal and 4p for clean sheets I don't think you can bench him against anyone but the very best teams. Tough one though, I got similar issues, literally everyone except my 2nd goalie has a good fixture.

All depends on how you see City fairing away. Since you've made your move already, tough for me to think Sterling/KDB > Salah/Mane is worth a (-4).

If it was for free, sure.

Many will prolly argue I have a benching headache. I will argue I have a strong bench for the Christmas period. I will simply just start the players with the most favourable fixture.

What do you think of this team?

    Mane KDB Son Pulisic

    2. Salah’s Sonnet

Incredible team imo mate, nice work. Very similar to what i'd have if i moves Salah + Mount > Son + Pulisic.
Just patiently waiting to see what happens after Pools display tomorrow before deciding, still 50:50 to keep Salah or not when i already have Mane.

      1. FC Hakkebøf

Thanks mate. I appreciate that. I love the bench tbh. I don't have to worry about rotation as all of my defenders have good fixtures coming up. The odd benching of an any XI player could mean I get a CS/attacking return from the bench. What is not to like?

I would do those moves if you can make good use of the cash. If you only have 1 FT I would definetely wait and see. Salah is Salah after all. And I'm still not convinced Pulisic is that much better an option than Mount just yet. I made the Mount to Pulisic transfer because I would have otherwise lost 0.1 SP on the former and 0.1 on the latter. Effectively 0.2 swinf if I decided to move for Pulisic later So I took the chance. Also monitoring Martial and Leicester mids for that spot

Very welcome, i like the bench too, takes a lot of worry out of it knowing you always have a bench such as that to fill in.

Agreed, important to make use of the cash. It is just the 1FT i have at the moment, Salah is certainly capable of the special stuff, but i am quite sold on the Mount to Pulisic move as he look much more attacking, so good business on your end imo.
I would of maybe done it but i didn't lose any sale value on Mount for his drop.

          Team right now is

          Pope
          Soy - TAA - Tomori
          Mount - Mane - KDB - Salah - Tielemans
          Vardy - Abraham

Ahh you already posted. My guess is you don't have enough ITB to do Mount to Pulisic as a straight swap. If that is the case, I would save the FT if I were you. Do the moves next week for free. You already missed the pricechanges. No reason not to wait imo.

On that note, I'm going to bed. Talk to you soon

Was looking at Mount to pulisic. I understand why players have made that move. 0.2 swing. But to me a bit sideways. And does frank have rotation in mind. Are we going to see mins managed. Alzate Brighton 4.5. Worth a look, attacking winger. Looks nailed. I have hay at the moment he's 4.4. So to save cash. Hay at 4.4 or den. Look the best. Tho den is in defence now boly is out. If you want to save more. You have the 4.3. But not playing.
