From FPL to FanTeam – Use your skills to win cash

How would your FPL team have performed on FanTeam, where you compete against roughly 3,000 managers each week?

With only €2, last week’s winner came from playing FPL to Daily Fantasy on FanTeam and won around €400.

We are giving you a free €2 ticket to try the same!

Just register HERE and you can join the Weekly Monster contest, which includes only matches from Gameweek 14. A lot to win and nothing to lose – what are you waiting for?

Here are some tips to make the transition easier. As the scoring rules are almost the same as in FPL, you should have no problems finding your way through it.

What you should forget, be aware of or copy when moving from FPL to FanTeam Weekly Monster.

Copy: Goals, assists and clean sheets

This is very simple. These are three most important things where you get points in FPL and the situation is same in FanTeam.

There’s only one difference, which is that in FanTeam you get eight points when your goalkeeper scores, while in FPL you get just six.

Forget: Correlation is bad

In Daily Fantasy you’re playing only one Gameweek. Correlation is your friend, not your enemy.

One of the main differences between FPL and Daily Fantasy is that in the latter you’re optimising your team only for one round, whereas in FPL you are always looking a few weeks into the future. That certainly makes Daily Fantasy much easier.

In FanTeam’s Weekly Monster there are usually only eight or nine games per tournament, while FPL season consists of 380 games in total.

That’s fewer games to forecast and you are able to base your predictions on information that is up to date and relevant. If you expect one team to score many goals and to keep clean sheet, don’t be afraid to get two or even three players from that team.

If you’re trying to win the tournaments, you should take bold risks and trust your forecasts. If you even out the risk too much, your team ends up in the middle of the table.

Be aware of: Playing 90mins matter

We are all used to the frustration in FPL when one of our players gets subbed off at 59th minute. One minute more would’ve meant one more point.

This applies also in FanTeam, but now you should also get used to the frustration, when your player gets subbed off at 90+3.

FanTeam awards players one point per start, one point per 60 minutes and one point per full game for midfielders and forwards.

This might not sound that important but believe us, this often makes a difference.

If you’re trying to choose between two players, choose always the one that’s more likely to play a full 90 minutes. This is one of the easiest ways to get extra points.

Be aware of: Winning players are the key

FanTeam awards one point to players if their team wins their match while anyone on the field when their side loses is deducted one point.

Let’s say two equally good players play against each other and you’re expecting both of them to get on the score sheet, but you think that the home team is slightly more likely to win the game then you should always choose the one most likely to emerge victorious.

Forget: Bonus points

There are no bonus points in FanTeam which could change how you pick your team.

There may be certain players who specialise in bonus that don’t fare as well in FanTeam.

It might even be a good tactic to avoid this sort of options if you think they offer less value without bonus on top.

Be aware of: You might be playing against true professionals

There are of course lot of professional players in FPL playing with money against each other, but more often than not, it’s just the game of fun between few good friends.

When we move to FanTeam’s Weekly Monster, where high roller games have a buy-in of €200 each week, the situation changes.

Nobody is willing to lose money that easily.

This means every manager is going to use much more time on their teams. There are true professionals who are basically using most of their time just to forecast different scenarios.

They calculate the probabilities and point expectations for different players before they construct few different teams that they see most likely to bring some money for them.

Copy: Have fun

Playing fantasy games, whether it’s FPL or FanTeam, you should only do it because you enjoy it.

This is especially important in FanTeam as there’s more often money involved in the game. Play only with money that you can afford to lose.

Football is a beautiful game and FanTeam Weekly Monsters are nice way to enjoy the game as long as you truly enjoy it.

Liverpool’s home game against Brighton tomorrow, is the first of 10 in just 30 days.

After failing to beat Napoli, The Reds must now go to RB Salzburg in their final Group E match and get a point to ensure progress to the Champions League knockout stage.

More concerning for Klopp, is the injury to Fabinho. An extended period out of the team could be a huge blow.

    Sat 30 Nov – Brighton (h)
    Wed 4 Dec – Everton (h)
    Sat 7 Dec – Bournemouth (a)
Tues 10 Dec – RB Salzburg (a, Champions League)
    Sat 14 Dec – Watford (h)
Tues 17 Dec – Aston Villa (a, Carabou Cup)
Wed 18 Dec – Club World Cup semi-final
Sat 21 Dec – Club World Cup third place play-off / final
    Thu 26 Dec – Leicester (a)
    Sun 29 Dec – Wolves (h)

So, how are you approaching Liverpool’s fixture congestion?

Does it affect your thinking in terms of captaincy?

What are your plans for their blank in Gameweek 18?

… and if Fabinho is out for four to six weeks as has been reported overnight, could a squad player, like Oxlade-Chamberlain emerge as an option?

In terms of captaincy, It has impacted my thinking in going Vardy (C).

Have double Liv defence and I am particularly worried about Robertson and rotation, hope the bench can cut the mustard if it comes to it.

Blank GW18, the ideal scenario is 2 FT's, Robbo -> Villa defence Cantwell -> Grealish, start both and bench TAA and Mane.

I need to upgrade my bench as it's currently Rico Saka Greenwood. Will go with Trent Robbo Salah until gw 18 wildcard, then reassess.

I'm sticking with two, Mane and TAA, and I'm happy with that.
Had planned Salah in to have a differential double attack, but my squad needs work and with the niggly ankle I can't put that much cash on Mo. If Fabinho is out I think that makes it slightly easier to overlook double defence.

I have the C on Mane at the minute, but after result on Wednesday I might move it.
Securing qualification early would have made the next week or two a lot easier to navigate.

I might stick on Kane if I bring him in. You going with Vardy this weekend?

I fell into that trap as well, I think Kane might be a similar one.
Vardy has been so reliable, it might just be a KISS decision.

Agreed. Last clean sheet was back in September, and they haven't kept one at Anfield yet in 2019/20. If that continues, I think the likes of Soyuncu and Lundstram will keep pace with Trent and Robertson, for a lot less.

Yeah, I've played with a double up on wildcard drafts as no doubt could be some huge hauls. I've never been one to double up really (too much stress) so why start now! If anything I think a Soy + Schmeics or Lundy + Hendo double up is more appealing for the money.

Cheers for this - just have two Pool players (TAA and Mané) and don't think I'll add to them. Suspect Mané will miss a game so won't risk captaining him and just leave it on Vardy for a few GWs

It's certainly made me re-think the triple up. I was planning to perma-captain Vardy anyway so that won't change. All that will happen is that I will probably keep KdB rather than move him to Salah. Bench Mane & Robertson in GW18, transfer Mount to Grealish and bench Soyuncu.

      Hey Tom.
I currently own TAA, Robbo and Salah.

I can't see me getting rid of any of them until GW 18, when I may use 2 FT to switch Salah and Robbo out for a week or so. The Fabinho news hurts as he's so instrumental to their play, though saying that, CS's have been few and far between.

Sticking with Trent / Mane / Salah

Doesn't affect captaincy just yet but that may change of course. Kinda have to play it by ear but original plan was Salah permacap for 4 gwks. He'll be my captain this week for sure.

Again things may change due to form / injuries but right now thinking is to bench all three and have good replacements.

        Can't buy Ox but if I could, I wouldn't.

Currently own VVD, TAA and Mane.

Not too concerned about rotation, as our benches are all pretty strong with the likes of Soyuncu and Lundstram and Tomori in many squads.

It has affected my captaincy thoughts though. Mane is in there purely as cover really, as with the sides Liverpool are facing he could easily haul. However I think Liverpool are in energy conservation mode at the moment. Apart from against City, where they had to play with full energy, they haven't scored 3 in a game since GW5. I think they're interested in the bare mimimum at present, which doesn't make for the best captains.

Plans for the blank, are to remove Mane for Son and possibly also VVD for Aurier. From gw 18-24 Spurs have:

CHE, BHA, nor, sou, LIV, wat, NOR

        Whereas pool have:

BLANK, lei, WOL, SHU, tot, MUN, wol

They seem to dovetail very nicely. No one will captain Mane in that run either so the damage if he does haul is minimal.

Taa rest midweek should mean he starts most matches in the PL. I don't think Mane will be rested anytime soon.

The reason I'm avoiding Robbo and Salah are their injuries and 90 mins midweek. Can see them getting a rest in an easy PL fixture which they have plenty upcoming.

      Best option here guys?

      A. Sterling + Tammy > Pulisic + Jesus/Kane (-4)
      B. Tammy > Ings/Jimenez (keep Sterling)
      C. Wildcard and freshen up all over to take advantage of the 3 in 4 home games for a lot of teams

Leaning towards A as feels most exciting/highest upside

      Heaton - 4
TAA - Soy - Lund - Tarkowski (Rico)
Mane - Sterling - KDB - Mount (Saka)
      Vardy - Tammy (Connolly)

Jesus is short term obviously but could do very well and be a great differential. Would then wildcard him out or somehow get to Kane for the Xmas period... or of course could save the future problem and go Kane right away. Just not convinced Spurs immediate fixtures are that good from an attacking perspective. Some good defences to play (statistically)

if tammy is confirmed out im thinking of him and wilson to jesus and ings for -4, tiny bit sick of looking at wilson stinking out the 2 pointers every week
jesus surely has to return some decent points as the only recognised striker now?

Press Conference is at 1:30, hopefully we'll know more after that.

I'm probably doing those moves plus Connolly to Ings for a -4, so I like it. Not sure you need to captain Kane though.

If Tammy isn't injured or only out for 1 game I want to make one of these moves. Thoughts?

Bit lost on what to do this week but I have 2 ft. My team right now

      Pope — Heaton
Taa Lundstram Tomori —- Rico lascelles
Sterling Kdb Mount martial — cantwell
      Rashford Abraham Vardy

If Tammy out more then 1 gw
      A: Sterling + Tammy >> Mane + Jimenez
B: Sterling + Tammy >> Mane + Ings + 1.4m to upgrade Mount or Martial next gw

If Tammy is only out for 1 gw
      C: Sterling + Lascelles >> Mane + Kelly
      D: Sterling + Lascelles >> Son + Robbo
      E: Sterling + Lascelles + Rashford >> Mane + Aurier + Jimmy (-4)

      Thoughts?

      Pope
      TTA Lund Rico Soy
      KDB Mane Mount MArtial
      Vardy (c) Tammy

      Button Otta Guen Maupay

Had 2 FTs, used one to get KDB in (Sterling out)

Thinking of doing 2 more transfers (mainly to get Son in)
