FPL Gameweek 14 review: what we learned from the weekend’s matches

Almost exactly 48 hours separate the completion of Gameweek 14 with the deadline for Gameweek 15, so the quick turnaround means we are unable to bring you individual Scout Notes on all ten Premier League matches that took place this weekend.

You can read about how Liverpool and Manchester City assets got on in their respective fixtures on Saturday by clicking the links below, however.

MATCH REPORT: Liverpool 2-1 Brighton and Hove Albion
MATCH REPORT: Newcastle United 2-2 Manchester City

For the other eight matches, we have produced this cover-all article that addresses some of the main talking points from the Gameweek just gone and delves into the stand-out stats from our Members Area.

    Vardy (c) Mousset

    Button Rico Janmaat (!) Tammy (!) (1FT 1.5m itb)

      B. Aurier? Think Spurs def will settle down eventually or Willems as perma-bench player.

aurier just for attacking returns, if they start keeping cleanies too you're in business

It's hard to read anything other than Tammy won't be even near fit for Wednesday from Lampard's comment

Genuine question, how are you reaching that conclusion? Maybe it's more hopeful from me, but the fact that he'll at least be out training is a very good sign, no?

He said they hope to get him out on the grass over the next couple of days. If he's only hoping to get him out on the grass how can he even be near to playing?

Maybe he meant the other”on the grass”?

Just chilling, smoking up, you know?

Could be he’s fine and just needs to take it easy for a couple before exploding into action again...

This is what he actually said. Nothing about training.

"We will find out more today and tomorrow. He needs to get outside and move a little bit outside over the next two days."

Sorry, maybe I've misinterpreted what Lampard said. But I've taken that as assuming that he WILL be back out and moving, and will be assessed from there.

Difficult one to call. I kept Tammy Hopi g he’s recover quickly. It worked out ok as I’d have transferred in Ings (9 points) and benched Cantwell (8 points). As it was I played Cantwell.

    Pope
    TAA Robertson Lundstram Soyuncu (Kelly)
    Alli Maddison Mane (Cantwell) (Chong)
    Aube Vardy Jimenez

Looks like Aube finally delivering some value... I plan on shipping him out after West Ham away for either Mousset or Rashford.....
Plan to ship in KDB or sterling for GW 18 onward.

yeah maybe. Despite their defensive shortcomings, Arsenal looked very dangerous in attack yesterday (from the first half I watched at least)..

Aub could prove to be a big differential as most people have lost patience with him by now

Stats for both of them are good ... would consider having both. Abraham ownership could kill the rank when he's up to speed. Although Pulisic could follow if he scored points well next few.

Someone tell me this plan is good!

      1FT, 1.2ITB

      Gazza, Ryan

      TAA, Tomori, Aurier, Lunds, Kelly

Mane, KDB, Mount, D. James, Saka

      Jesus, Vardy, Jimenez

      D. James -> Djenepo this GW
Jesus -> Abraham when fit again, likely GW16
Jimenez -> Kane in GW19 when Wolves fixtures swing

Also leaves me decent options in Djenepo and Kelly for TAA and Mane in GW18.

Ings, Mousset, Zaha, Pulisic, Alli, Maddison, Jimenez, Lundstram, Soyuncu,... with so many good and (very) cheap options, it’s almost impossible to avoid benching headaches, isnt it?

Im very close to that team, which I feel is very good - but the benching headaches, my oh my!

      Henderson
      TAA Soy Lundstram Robbo (Guilbert)

      Pretty simple one really;

Pope > Henderson? I only have 1FT and 1.3M in the bank.

      Pope
      VVD, Tomori, Soyoncu, Lund
      Mane, KDB, Alli
      Auba, Vardy, Mousset

      Button, Cantwell, Lindelof, Saka

      Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm tempted to side with Guaita to avoid S.Utd defensive double up.

Auba Home to Brighton after having score 2 goals, not sure I'd be so quick to get rid.

Not captaining Vardy has cost me rank slips of late...do I move the armband to him or keep the squad as is for tomorrow?

      Henderson
      TAA / Lund / Soy
      Pulisi(c) / Mane / Salah / KDB / Madds
      Vardy / Jimenez

Subs: Button / Rico / Janmaat / Greenwood

I'd cpt Vardy. I'm in same boat though, team doing well, captain blanked last 3 Sterling then Mane so I'm sure Vardy will now blank 🙂

cheers I'll switch to vardeh given form and fixtures- I suppose Mane/Salah is enough of a differential to set my team aside from my rivals
