Vardy in landslide majority for Gameweek 15 captaincy among top 10k

The power of Jamie Vardy (£9.9m) continues to rise as he dominates the Gameweek 15 captaincy statistics – especially among the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers.

Ahead of the first midweek Gameweek of the season, a whopping 82.1% of managers at the highest level handed the Leicester City centre-forward the captaincy.

That’s the largest amount of support for a skipper among the top 10k all season while just under 2% of the top 10k have Triple Captained Vardy.

Vardy also won the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll this week and was selected as the best option for the armband both by the Captain Sensible article and our Scout Picks.

After scoring eight goals in six matches, Vardy now faces a Watford side without a manager and short of several key defensive personnel, while many of the other options do not come with such fortuitous circumstances in Gameweek 15.

That is best shown in the backing for Sadio Mané (£12.2m) among the top 10k.

The Liverpool man, preparing to face Everton on Wednesday night, was the second most-captained among the top 10k for Gameweek 15 but was still only backed by 6.6% of them.

That made for a massive gap between him and Vardy, one of 75.5 percentage points.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) completes the top three with a measly 2.4% backing for the Gameweek 15 captaincy at the highest level of FPL.

It will be interesting to see if Vardy can continue to make the armband his own for the foreseeable future with matches against Aston Villa (away) and Norwich (home) coming up in Gameweeks 16 and 17.

It is probably worth pointing out just how much impact a Vardy captaincy could have at lower reaches of the worldwide rankings.

Despite overwhelming support from the top 10k for Gameweek 15, only 31.9% of Fantasy managers overall have handed him the armband for the meeting with Watford.

Vardy continues to show almost complete control over the top 10k in terms of base ownership too.

In Gameweek 14, the Leicester man was in 97.4% of teams at this level, which has now risen to 97.8% for Gameweek 15.

By contrast, a chunk of managers have decided to cash in on Tammy Abraham (£7.9m) amid his injury developments.

Going into Gameweek 14, 52.9% of top 10k managers owned the Chelsea man, making him the second most-popular forward at this level.

However, this figure has dropped to just 40.4% for Gameweek 14.

Meanwhile, Raúl Jiménez (£7.7m) has gone in the opposite direction, rising from third to second in terms of most fashionable top 10k forwards.

Interestingly, Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) has not yet shown up in the top 10k template just yet, his colleague Mason Mount (£6.6m) still inside the top-five (28.8%).

That just goes to show how much of a differential Pulisic could be as Chelsea host Aston Villa on Friday night.

That said, Mount does continue to fall from grace among the top 10k.

In Gameweek 14, he sat in 39.1% of teams at this level but has dropped to just 28.8%.

Travelling in the opposite direction is Son Heung-min (£9.8m), who is benefitting from the Jose Mourinho resurgence.

No Spurs attacker has scored more points than him across the former Manchester United manager’s, which is why his stock continues to rise among the top 10k.

Son sat in 30.9% of squads at that level in Gameweek 14 but is now owned by 38.2% of them.

Meanwhile, the goalkeepers and defenders preferred by the top 10k have stayed the same for Gameweek 15, including their popularity rankings.

As expected, chip usage was generally quite sparing for Gameweek 15 but there were still some interesting lines.

We’ve already mentioned that 1.6% of top 10k managers opted to Triple Captain Vardy.

However, despite fears over midweek rotation, the Bench Boost was actually the most deployed chip.

2.2% of managers in the top 10k have opted to add their substitutes’ scores into their total points tally for Gameweek 15.

That could be considered a brave decision considering that we have just embarked on the first midweek Gameweek of the campaign, of which many were concerned about rotation.

Chelsea really need to bounce back tonight to convince me to stay with their attackers over going for Spurs assets. Otherwise you might say they are losing some form, whilst Spurs are gaining some

Who would you rather if you had to choose only 1

    A) Pusilic
    B )Son
    C) Alli

Same here mate. A guy shared this site yesterday which has high quality highlights (or full match) and doesn't tell you the score before hand

        https://fullmatchsports.co/fullmatch/full-match-epl-2019-2020/

So if you can resist checking the scores you can have the excitement via highlights in the morning. Man C and Burnley highlights are up already.

I like to check the app right away

See a nice big number like 3 or 4 next to my captains team
And then click on the game to see if his name pops up with a football next to it!

Have all eleven but am cheered off I bought in Hardy over Jesus when I binned Kun.

Such an obvious transfer really but I bottled it as Vardy was killing me. I also still have respect for the Burnley lads so that swayed me to desert the Moons altogether. I also sold David too. Gawd!

Funny enough, only Vardy staying quiet and Mane(c) exploding, can now save me from disaster.

I applaude all who got in Jesus and the hoddlers of David. Great play!

    Pope (4.0)
    TAA, Robbo, Lund, Chilwell, Lowton

    Jimi, Ings, Vardy (c)

    1.8 ITB, 2FT

Hi guys, what moves should I be looking to prioritize here?
    a) Keeper change
    b) Spurs attack
    c) Chelsea attack
    d) something else.

Planning to WC around GW 18 / 19

    Thanks!!

I would prioritise the keeper change as Pope for some reason has been sloppy the past two games. I sometimes find a move like that, although not promising spectators returns, will see greater returns over time trickle in.

Spurs attack would be next priority. Their fixtures are mixed and their reinvention seems to be long ball tactics which may prove easy to adjust to for teams.

Would you be looking at saving here or moving on Salah/ KDB?
Salah-> Son or even Alli gives a nice bit of cash to change elsewhere.

    Henderson.
    Robbo, Soyuncu, Lundstram.
    Pulisic, Mane, KDB, Salah, Cantwell.
    Abraham, Vardy.
    Button, A. Smith, Williams, Wickham.
1ft. 0.2m ITB. WC in hand and will prob keep until GW 19/20.

    2FT 0.3 ITB

    Schmikes
    Soy/Stevens/Lund
    Sterling/Salah/Traore/Mcginn
    Vardy/Kane/Tammy

    Ryan/Kelly/Hayden/Ward

Thinking of Sterling + Mcginn > Son & Pulisic leaves 0.7 ITB for next week

Or should I get Ali instead of Son & upgrade better

Same here. Stats aren't too bad and a CF in a Mourinho team usually does well.

Going to be a tough game week, my 3 players yesterday .... Ederson cleanie lost in the last minute , PVA subbed early, injured and missing a cleanie & KdB blanking with City scoring 4 goals ... but hope springs eternal 🙂

    3 players - 7 points 🙁

Was so close to starting Kelly and benched him for Soy last min.. Had a dream Soy scored so let's hope Leicester clean sheet and Soy / Pereira attacking returns.

Does not make sense why someone would be protected for unknown injury.

The towers think that Tammy is already underpriced so therefore they won't let him drop. The same thing happened to KDB earlier this season.

That is true but imo this should be more transparent. I like the way game has been built with not that many illogical parts but this is a bit annoying for planning.

Arguably transparency would lead to greater chaos and surges in the price market..

it’s the rules i believe, when a red flag is removed the player is price protected for a period of time

I am sure others have more knowledge on this though than I

Only if the red goes straight to zero flag. Tammy is not Price protected - according to FPL statistics explanation

Highly owned player + red flag + price protection.

KDB > Son still feels wrong, Kevin worth every penny of 9.5 in the long run surely, already half way towards 200 with 23 GW's left

Morning dzzz, given the volatile price market...will need to make my moves tonight. Suggestions with 1.6m itb

    Heaton -- Pope
Taa Lundy Tomori -- Rico Lascelles
Mane Kdb Pulisic Mount -- Cantwell
    Rashford Vardy Ings

    A: Lascelles + Mount >> Hanley + Alli (-4)
    - I expect Hanley to be fit for gw18 when I need him but there is a good chance he will fall to 3.9 by then

    B: Mount + Rashford >> Alli + Tammy (-4)
    - Got Rashford at 8.5m plus united have decent fixtures the Man City

    C: Mount + Rashford >> Son + Pukki (-4)
    - Same as above about whether it’s right to sell Rashford

How the hell does David Silva register and assort for Rodri’s strike? A poor shot deflected off a defender is not the same as a keeper saving a shot. Another reason why FPL is rubbish this season

It's like that forever i guess.

I remember getting an assist from Pogba via a blocked shot against Palace late in the game (cpl vs MU) & Matic scoring a world class goal.
