Pundits Playoff Matchweek 7 ends as Matchweek 8 begins

And suddenly matchweek 7 came to a close in the Pundits Playoff, the community tournament that pits twelve teams of fifteen FPL players against each other over twenty two weeks of H2H match play.
It is hard to believe, I know, but we are now a third of the way through the league phase, with only fifteen matches left to play.

Here are the results of match week 7, although there is still some points checking still to do so they could change:

pundits-playoff-matchweek-7-ends-as-matchweek-8-begins

Nirvana Scott Talent have suddenly hit a solid patch of form with a 14-1 win over BSC Small Boys (in the park) FC, knocking them off the top spot in the process. Another team also in need of a resurgence are A Whole Lawro B*llocks, who managed a 13-2 win over the “15” Musketeers. The infamous and formidable Unbelievable Jeff FC are back to winning ways, with yet another 15 point whitewash. This time their victims were Blame It On Rio – unlucky chaps.

Recording their sixth win of the tournament, beating Back To Square Owen, and having topped the H2H table of Period 1, The Keane Fifteen now find themselves top of the league in both the Period 2 and Overall H2H leagues, it’s been a fantastic performance so far from them. Slaven’s Ball-itch suffered their second defeat in a row, and again by a very small margin, this time by just 3 points at the time of writing. Their victorious opponents were WhenTheOWENgetsTough, who now find themselves in second place in the Overall H2H league.

Finally, Holly’s Hamsters vs Brazil Nuts. A very, very close affair this one, the Hamsters thought they had won it, until they realised that a Guendouzi no show had allowed the Nuts to bring on another Rico 9-pointer from the bench. SpeedyBoyz and co take home a 12-3 win, with an overall winning margin of just 3 points.

Here is the Period 2 league table as it currently stands, barring any last minute point changes:

Fixtures

Matchweek 8 fixtures are as follows:

Blame it on Rio vs WhenTheOWENgetsTough
Brazil Nuts vs Slaven’s Ball-itch
“15” Musketeers vs Unbelievable Jeff FC
The Keane Fifteen vs Holly’s Hamsters
Nirvana Scott Talent vs A Whole Lawro B*llocks
BSC Small Boys (in the park) FC vs Back to Square Owen

Deadline for submitting line ups is 10:30 am Saturday 7th December.

Live scores will be shown here.

The main page, where you can see the team sheets, past results and tables can be viewed here.

Can the Keane Fifteen keep the top spot, or will the Hamsters vast appendages prove too much for them?
Who will win the derby match from nirvana, between A Whole Lawro B*llocks and Nirvana Scott Talent?
Will the “15” Musketeers manager, KIRAFPL, be able to outwit the impressive Pirlo’s Pen of Unbelievable Jeff FC and dominate the H2H battles?

Thank you for managing to get an update done within this chaotic week!

Was eagerly waiting for it to drop though this morning, even resisted the urge to doctor the results table in our favour 😉

Good luck to all the teams this week!

After a tough set of fixtures it's relief to see them ease up and we won't get much easier than Lawro's bunch of bollocks.

Boris - we won 15-0 - it looks like the scores on the spreadsheet (for our game at least) is still on the points totals as they were on Wednesday night.

I'm at my office xmas party tonight, otherwise I would be happy to offer. Don't worry we'll get them right eventually, I'll leave the googlesheet open until tomorrow morning to give some more time.

Fixture congestion doesn't help does it?

Rumblings of a sacking are about as Back to Square Owen find themselves firmly back at square one with one win in the last 6 games. ‘Tis the season of sackings and some suspect that TSP has landed on the board’s naughty list. “TSP, he’s all alone out there, with 14 other mates. He’s got to adapt to the modern game because footballers these day often have to use their feet. He could have the team top of the league if he won every match.” ~Michael Owen

The Christmas decorations were up on Tuesday as Jesus lorded it over Pope to bring some early sparkle to UJFC; but there was no room in the Inn for the BIOR squad. We were also left to hang out with the Donkeys on Wednesday although, and to be fair, one of them did deliver 11 pts; but UJFC had loadsa Mane so we were stuffed.

It was also a night in the cells for the BIOR Ultras, who were unable to remember the words to Jingle Bells. Rio was also spotted slipping away early, but he’s probably making an early start on planning for our Xmas Party in Siberia.

Our bid for mid-table obscurity continues in GW16 with the visit of WhentheOwenGetsTough, who win the Newspeak award for the most economic use of grammar. Many thought that this would be a convivial gathering between fellow BT Sports pundits, but that was soon discounted, and Rio’s sudden disappearance added to the speculation that mind games were afoot. League rules stipulate that visiting Pundits should be afforded the same treatment and respect as the host Pundit; so we were very happy to clap Owen Hargreaves in irons, attach electrodes to his nether regions, and play Chris Kamara’s Christmas Album on an endless loop. To give him credit, he thought we all did an excellent job.

As for the match, with injuries mounting, nothing in the transfer pot, and fines still to be paid following our recent run-in with Young Boys, Geevious is still looking for that elusive ‘new manager’ bounce. This week’s ruse is play us according to our strengths.

I’ll be stacking shelves in Sainsburys.

Nirvana Scott Talent v Whole Lawro's Bllx

Current situation by my calculations after autosubs, cancelling-outs, etc.

    NST: 13 points + Grealish x 2, Tielemans x 3, Pereira; Ings; Cantwell x 2, Pukki, Henderson, O'Connell; Ryan x 3, Connolly, Jimenez x 2, Doherty, Donkey.
WLB: Heaton, Targett, Trezeguet, Soy x 5, Vardy x 4, Perez; Mousset; Traore; Lacazette.

    3pt H2H: NST = 23 points + Cantwell, Lundstram. WLB = Vardy; Henderson, Mousset.
2pt H2H: NST = 3 points + Soy; Henderson, Mousset; Jimenez. WLB = Dunk; Lacazette.
    1pt H2H: NST = Maddison. WLB = 27 points + Ryan.

Looks like Soy and Vardy's performance will be crucial in the overall match.

Congrats Lawro and co - Vardy haul and some bad luck for us on autosubs following today's no-shows have meant (by my calculations) we are 8 points behind and we have no players left tomorrow.

Unless Lacazette gets 15+ points tomorrow, we have one the H2Hs 5-1, so overall is going to be a 10-5 win for you.

If somebody in your teams is AWOL, let me know. I fear that my team is too expensive compared to my earlier casual rankings though 🙁

Yet, do check my team. Robbo will soon go for Rashford. (Not having Sir Lund and Sterling from the start was big risk and has cost me as well as unlucky early Rashford and Martial in.)

    Would be fun to participate!

The Hamsters are currently beating The Keane Fifteen by 37 points. We have two Lacazettes left, they have a lone Auba.
H2Hs are done and dusted, 4 points to us, 2 to TKF.

Good game chaps, we thought we were done for after Saturday, Vardy completely saved our skin.

That is good for us. Keane dont take a big lead then as we are also swaying towards a loss this week. Will drop to 3rd maybe but not too behind the leaders and 2nd(jeffs). Good game Rios. I blame you guys for our loss. Well played.

Good game lads.. we expected 8 Salah to be enough to win this round. But maddison and vardy combined was way too hot to handle.. also all the kelly points off the bench..

Losing a few period 2 matches but hooefully will be back next round..

    Brazil nuts vs slavin's ball-itch
55 points lead after auto subs
    All h2h won
    15-0 for brazil nuts.
Many factors came to our side, and margins would have been way slimmer.
Well done chaps and hard luck slavinss.
